is it bad to cheer against Harbaugh in San Fran for him to miss the playoffs?

Who else is cheering for SF to tank this season and miss the playoffs to have Jim Harbaugh available earlier then January? Where will Jim end up? Stays in SF, comes to Michigan, Oakland, NY Jets or Giants? Here is an article I just came across http://nypost.com/2014/11/22/fiery-49ers-coach-harbaugh-no-slam-dunk-ch…

Considering multiple sources BEFORE the season said it was Super Bowl or fired for Harbaugh...I call bullshit.

He can make the playoffs. If the man wants to come to Michigan, he'll come to Michigan...making the playoffs would just delay everything assuming he coaches SF to the end.

I'm a Niners and Michigan fan. It's like I actually hope both lose enough so that the Niners' coach can become Michigan's coach. But I think the window is closed on thisversion of SF winning a title and I believe Hoke's Michigan will never even play in the B1G championship game.

He's not going back to SF no matter what so JH will be looking for a job. And maybe he doesn't want to be another nomadic pro coach clashing with Pro athletes and front offices all across the country.

So, I want him at UM coming off a SB win.

That is worth waiting for...it would be an epic coup and would be something none of UM's rivals could come close to matching.

No way they fire a coach that makes the Super Bowl. If the Niners make the playoffs they have as good of chance of making the super bowl as any team. Even if they fire him a long playoff run could make th me UM brass get antsy and hire someone who has less drama attached.

From all indications it looks like Harbaugh is gone regardless..and it may not be a firing. He seems to be just as fed up with them as they are with him. I mean he's already taken them to the game, nearly won it and yet no extension is even being mentioned.

As for the UM brass...of course you'd have to think they'd have already worked something out with JH behind the scenes. Of course there's a risk..but a risk worth taking when considering the other options (except maybe the other JH).

Again...give me the ultimate winner as coach and go from there (NEVER choose losing over winning..ever)...its time for UM to make some positive national noise...and start to throw off all of the negative baggage.

Ever since he said,"Of course, we're going to win."and backed it up by going out and beating Ohio State, I've rooted for him, and he has held a special place for me. He is probably my favorite Michigan QB of all-time, but whatever is best for the program. We really need change

That Harbaugh doesn't make it to the end of the season in SF? If they are eliminated Greg Roman could finish off the last couple of games and Harbaugh would be free to look elsewhere.

The Niners have been playing a very ugly brand of football most of this year.  Losing late, and inexplicably, and the team has a sputtering offense propped up by a defense that can dominate.  This feels to me like late-Carr era football.

Having said that, Harbaugh is done here regardless of what happens the rest of the season.  The only thing I can think of that may move the needle re Harbaugh to Michign is if logical landing places (Chicago, Oakland, NY, Miami) either become dumpster fires, or stay out of the coaching market.

I believe the situation is far too fluid to say he's "definitely" staying or going, but yeah, I do think SF making the playoffs wouldn't do Michigan's chances any favors, so yes I root against them.

If that is the case and he leaves the San Francisco area for any place but Michigan this blog will have a collective melt down. No way should he ever be offered the job again IMO if he turns it down this time. We truly need him now even if it's a five year stint and he goes back to the NFL like Carrol. I know that Carro initially wasn't successful so he was forced back to college but I truly think college is the best place for him and if he came back he could maybe even give Saban a run for his money.

College is just as prestigious as the pros in some cases Michigan being one of them and if he were to bring Michigan back he'd be a legend and people would want to do all kinds of sponsorships and deals with him. In some ways it would be like Lebron returning to Cleveland. I have no illusions that there would be challenges and this is not a done deal but in so many ways this makes sense for both parties. He is one of the few candidates that has Michigan connections and can connect to a younger generation of fans due to his success at Stanford and the 49ers.

We are about to become huge Seahawks fans since they play San Franciso twice to end the year. Should Seatle win both of those games it would be hard for San Francisco to overcome that. Arizona looks like it has an insurmountable lead to control the NFC West but Seattle put the smack down on them although at home where they play great as opposed to away where they don't. Arizona lost that quarterback unless he's able to come back so the race there is very interesting. It's too bad San Francisco was able to win the last three weeks because they played bad teams who had a chance to win. This Thursday game against the Seahawks may be huge and interesting for me to watch.

I don't think SF making the playoffs precludes us from getting him but it makes the timing difficult. Please Hackett get him to Michigan and you will be considered one of the great athletic directors and this could make up for almost any blonde you make while you lead the organization.

competition. Neither UM or any  other NCAA can offer him the level of competition and the chance to win the Super Bowl. For a hyper-competitive person like Harbaugh the drive to get that ring is awfully powerful. I doubt that UM can overcome that.

UM's only shot is if Harbaugh is sick of the NFL and instead focuses on becoming the best college football coach there ever was.

I don't want a coach who failed in the NFL. He could go 10-6 and still miss the playoffs.

I'm not rooting for Harbaugh to lose. I'm just rooting for him to come to Michigan.
