SO HYPED!

I think Livers is one of the best values in the draft - a great pick in the middle of the 2nd round.

Add that to Cade Cunningham with the first pick, and Detroit has had an amazing draft... and still get two more picks in the 2nd.

Adding these pieces to their three first rounders last year (two of whom made NBA rookie teams), and the future is looking bright in Detroit.

As soon as I saw Pistons, knowing John Beilein is there...it was an easy prediction that Livers would stay home in Detroit.

He's going to be a solid player for them. I see him coming off the bench and contributing like Camoren Johnson for the Suns.

??THIS GUY?? now intends to see a Pistons game this season for the first time in well over a decade. Great draft for Detroit to get both Cade and Isaiah .

What great news, Go Isaiah! 〽️Go Blue and Go Pistons.

I’m a total fairweather Piston fan.  I’ve hardly paid attention to them the last several years.  This draft has me seriously interested in watching them again.

The Pistons easily had one of the best drafts last year and then had a very good draft this year. They should be very good in 2-3 years and until then they’ll be extremely fun to watch. JB being there should help develop some of the young guys and Casey is one of the absolute best at getting the most out of his young guys. It’s a good core for sure. If Cade lives up to his billing, the Pistons will be in the playoffs in no time .

Jay Bilas actually said that he wasn't a good defender. That made me laugh. I am super excited he is staying in Michigan and has a chance to be a part of helping the Pistons be relevant again.

I will never understand this take.

Amaker wasn't much of floor coach, but he restored the dignity, integrity, and national view of the program after Ed Martin, Tom Goss, and Brian Ellerby utterly destroyed the entire program.  Under Ellerby, the program was no longer a national laughing stock - he (they) degraded it to that sad look of pity you can't even joke about.  Amaker brought it back from that depth.

Understand him for what he was, and what he did for the program, and you can stop living with hate in your heart.

agree 100%

tommy was a good coach and honorable, stable presence at a time when we sorely needed exactly that.  he had some bad luck - one wonders what he might have been able to accomplish if jamal crawford hadn't gotten railroaded out of town...it's hard to recall now, but i seem to recall crawford loving college (correct me if i'm misremembering), too.  two full years of him might have changed amaker's trajectory here.

even so, he was given every opportunity to take the program up a level, and wasn't ever able to do it.  he deserves our thanks for restoring the dignity of the program, but it was time to go.  i haven't heard bilas bitching about it in years and years, though, thankfully.  he was wrong about that for a long, long time.

I think Livers was a very good defender in college but his ability to defend at the NBA level is still up in the air.

Probably doesnt have the foot speed or lateral agility to lock down NBA wings on the perimeter. He'll likely be guarding the 4 and doing it at a size disadvantage.

But if he can knock down 40% of his 3's they'll find minutes for him.

Great pick by the Pistons.  I think Livers was an easy 1st rounder before his injury.

You can never have enough shooters in today’s NBA and Livers is a great one.  He is a bit weak going to the rim, but as a 3 & D guy I expect him to be in the league for a while.

He doesn't even need to move! He can just keep living in South Quad (or wherever he is now)!

Who's the last Wolverine to play for the Pistons? Chris Webber?

lol and now Luka Garza with pick 52. Pistons traded their center Plumlee today in favor of all-rookie center Isaiah Stewart. Garza gives them depth which they need. I love this pick. Garza doesn't have the athleticism, but damn he is skilled. It'll be interesting to see what he can do in the NBA. I think it's a great pick late in the 2nd. Certainly has upside.

Garza could end up being a solid depth piece but i really disagree with the upside take. I actually don't think Garza has -any- upside and is already 100% the player hell end up being.

All of his weaknesses are things that cant really be improved. And skill wise there isnt much i think he can add besides refining what he does well already.

Garza has the potential to be instant offense for the Pistons 2nd team.  Yeah he will always be a defensive liability, but how often can you get one of the most dominant scorers in college basketball with the 52nd pick?

If you think like moneyball, post scoring has become so ignored that it is undervalued now.

We'll see. Garza has dropped over 30 pounds since their last game and has been working his ass off to improve his mobility, which he knows is the knock on him. He was 6'11" and 243 at the combine. I expect a different player but we'll see how much it changes his game. Dropping 30 can't hurt.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Beilein had a hand in this pick.

Either way, congrats to Isaiah! Hope he does well and makes the most of the opportunity.
