I wouldn't say "crazy", we don't know his reasons, but the same lesson can be applied without getting derogatory.  Martin dumped Michigan.  You don't take back someone who left.  They might've learned since then, but then let that growth be applied to someone without a hatchet to bury.

There's no indication he's interested in returning, anyway.  The path to the field is probably even longer than when he first arrived.

No room for him. Plenty of talent at WR. All the best to the young man and hope whatever's causing him to transfer again works out in a way that he's happy with.

WTH??

I mean, transfer once and the case against 'school fit' can be made.  Transfer twice and it appears the problem lies with the common denominator.  Granted, Iowa has some race issues going on, so maybe that's it?  But I kinda expect not.  This looks like he just can't see a path to the field, which is very similar to the problem he had at Michigan.

One could argue he was going to have a tough time beating out the receivers he came in with here.  But we watched Ronnie Bell get more PT than Black or DJP.  So, Imo I believe most think they are doing the work to be the starter and aren't listening to the coaches telling them they have to work harder.  Can't understand why I'm not the starter I'm a better .... than ... who is starting in front of me.  Coach, you aren't blocking and get our rb tackled as soon as he gets to the second level.  Coach, you put 3 balls on the turf today and ... didn't let any hit the ground.  Coach, you keep rounding this route and every time you do it you give the under cut to the corner for a pbu or int.  Being coachable is the biggest issue players have and putting the work in to be better.

Seems like Iowa threw a fade to him against us last year in the end zone. He was open but the throw missed long. Other than that, he was mostly invisible. Hope he finds some MACtion and tears it up.

No thanks. He got buried the first time he was here and now with even more WR talent he would not see the field.

You'd have to think he's one of Iowa's more highly rated WRs.  At UM it made sense as he was behind guys like DPJ, Black, & Collins on the depth chart.  But, it sounds like maybe he's just not a P5 level starting WR if he can't see the field much on two different teams.  Maybe he needs to drop down to a mid major program.

I thought he was a slot and was supposed to be coming into college with college level route running.  At the time he came in, there was room to impact early at slot.  Now with Bell and some other quick kids, I think it'd be hard to find a spot for him.

I think Nico will be number 1 with yards and Bell with targets.  Love to see both over 1000 yards.

Kids! Am I right? Transfer portals, G Leagues, player “unions”! Lack of NCAA leadership & guidance. Bagmen, bloated coaching salaries. All contributing to the eroding of college sports as we know it.

Something is off here. Either he was extremely overrated or his work ethic is not good at all. I understood the move maybe to go back to Iowa, but now its obviously something other than he was homesick.

These are some serious, and damning, allegations about his personal character and how his teammates and coaches view him.  I suspect you have documentation (or evidence of some other nature) that backs up this claim, and that you're willing to share it?  Because if you don't, then you're just another weak, scummy dummass smearing a kid because he's doing something you don't like.

Please - show us the evidence that he is the weak, scummy dummas, rather than you...

I know a kid on the Iowa team. I have been around this board some time.

I would not disparage a kid without plenty of fact. The kid on the team is beyond repute. Two weeks ago Martin was moved to 2nd team workouts. He fell out favor for those very reasons.

They bring back Brandon Smith, Imer Smith Marsette, Tyrone Tracy and Nico Ragany as top 4.  They are loaded at WR    Martin was #6 or #7 and thought he should be # 1-3.  He was not and he acted like it.

I respect your position. But Its the truth.

Sorry Mary, there's no room at the inn.

I don't say that to chastise him. Really, I don't. But our WR depth is pretty darn good, especially when you consider what's coming in this season and next. I just don't think there's any plausible way for him to crack into the depth chart. Much less get into the two-deep. But hey, if Harbaugh decided to bring him back, then by all means he should be welcomed back.

Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

If you transfer back to the school you transferred away from, do you have to sit out a year or can you play straight away?

If they can play right away we can call this the Prodigal Transfer clause.

Wonder he'll apply for another waiver to play immediately. If he does, and he gets it, that's proof the whole waiver things is stupid and broken and should just go away.

Black, DPJ, Hawkins, Martin. . . from that "monster" WR haul whoda thunk Nico Collins was going to be the monster?  I remember he was considered the biggest question mark, a low-floor, high-ceiling risk that we could afford to take because of everyone else around him.  He's the only one left, and the biggest playmaker among them.

Martin was supposed to be a no-brainer:

Very skilled, technical wideout. Excellent route runner with great hands and ability to make catches in traffic. Smart and understands how to get open. Very good athlete with good quickness, leaping ability and body control. Competitive, hard working kid.

What a disappointment that group turned out to be.  All top 100 guys.  DPJ was good not great then turned into a 6th round draft pick, Black started off great then got injured and didn’t play a whole lot supposedly cuz of some attitude problems, and Martin has transferred twice and hardly seen the field.
