We will know one thing for sure tomorrow. How rusty the SEC bagmen have gotten since NIL. They are all hustling to Dallas as I write this message.

Coaching:

  • Can't say enough about Minter. Now he has a month to come up with some amazing schemes for the playoff.
  • I get that conservative offensive philosophy wins against Iowa, but I would liked to have seen some evidence of creativity to crack their scheme. We will certainly face good defenses in the playoff -- and paired with explosive offenses that will find ways to score on us to boot.

Special Teams:

  • It's great to see the improvement in Turner from the beginning of the season. Kid's got ice water in the veins.
  • Morgan essentially won the game for us. I'd like to see a focus on punt catching to avoid the bounce-and-roll that happened a couple times today.
  • Doman was better than Taylor today. Doman caught a bad break on the bounce-back punt, while TT benefitted from many yards of roll in the game. Doman pinning Iowa deep led directly to a fumble and easy score.

Having Zinter hoist the trophy for the threepeat is perfect Harbaugh.  Given the opportunity to rub it in, or even bask in the schadenfreude, he did what he always does: give credit to the players and coaches who got him there.

Credit where credit is due: the player who pushed Morgan out on the punt return was the first Hawkeye he juked to the ground (#4 Koen Entringer, I think).  He got up off the turf and ran ~90 yards to catch Morgan.

I was surprised Harbaugh didn't go for it on that last 4th and 1. It didn't matter and it was a beautiful field goal, but this is Harbaugh, so I expected him to go for more points regardless.
