He's exciting. You never know what he'll do next.

Innovative, fresh, an elite coach who was also an elite player.

And he's ours.

We, as a fan base, need to send Jed York a fruit basket every Christmas forever. Like, we need to start a trust to buy Jed York a fruit basket every year for the rest of his life and flowers for his grave every year after his death. I'll calculate the service cost and set the actuarial assumptions, and we're good to go.

Harbaugh might as well be a millenial himself. He travels all over the world. He's constantly posting to social media. He fucks. And he loves MDMA -- Michigan Defense, Michigan Attack.

fascinating, that tilt is coming, when the elite recruits pivot towards us over Alabama... its coming....

Harbaugh's appeal is a bonus for recruiting and we're blessed to have it. That's obvious. But I wish publications would stop comparing him to Saban in every aspect at every single opportunity. I guess they get butt hurt if Saban doesn't have 100% of the spotlight so they have to remind us, like we didn't already know, of the national championships.

Yeah, Harbaugh has all the personality in the world and Saban doesn't have any. Saban also has a ton of Bama boosters to throw wads of cash at players/recruits...and sometimes those players post pictures of themselves online with said cash and predictably nothing happens but I digress. There's no denying he's still a phenomenal coach and he's never going to be hurting for some of the best players in the country. So this article isn't really telling us anything we didn't know.

It is not a bad thing to be associated with Saban but from a different perspective one could say it's a slap in the face.  No one can coach like Harbaugh.  Those of us in the maize and blue nation understand that.  Give Harbaugh Alabama's talent last year and their average margin of victory is 30 points and give Saban our guys last year and he goes 6-6.  Truth.

"I guess they get butt hurt if Saban doesn't have 100% of the spotlight so they have to remind us, like we didn't already know, of the national championships. "

They could just as easily add, "Jim Harbaugh is the only SUCCESSFUL head coach to leave the NFL to return to the college game. " And he did it in a classy manner. He could have walked when fired with two games to go but in typical Harbaugh fashion said, "I am going to finish what WE started."

Genuine and pragmatic coach out there among other things.  It's the first two qualities that I think really make him stand out.  Everything he says he means and everything he says or does is thought out and has a direct purpose.  He gets it.  The enthusiasm no one else can match in everything he does is the cherry on top.  I'm so happy he's our guy and his impact on football is priceless.

Harbaugh's appeal to young people is partly rooted in his complete and utter disregard for a system that is governed for and by a hypocritical ruling elite. He openly challenges "their" way of doing business and as a result young people love him.  To them, he is college football's gadfly.

Sports fans between the ages 18-34 are aware of Harbaugh??? That seems low. How can you be a sports fan and not aware of Harbaugh? Maybe this is a fully/partially aware thing...

".. he'll still have five fewer national championships than Saban"

Not true.  Harbaugh already has 2 national championships from his time at SDSU.

Nope. UCSD, to my knowledge, has never had a football team. It's part of the UC system and was founded in the 60s.

San Diego State is part of the Cal State system and has had a team since 1921. The're in the Mountain West.

Harbaugh coached the University of San Diego Toreros from 2004-2006, and are in the Pioneer League of the FCS. They do not offer scholarships, so they have to recruit like hell.

the Millenials surveyed are past the age of being recruitable since they're 18-34.

It's Gen Z that we care about, but he seems to be doing pretty well with them!

What I was going to say.  I'm 29 and can't imagine calling current high schoolers Millenials.  I thought the whole point of Millenials was they were the generation that grew up at the turn of the Millenium... Not born after it.

Plus, American society changed dramatically around 2010 (social media/smart phone ubiquity).  It seems like the generation that grew up with smart phones in their hands in elementary school should get a new generation nickname.
