So who's the #2 at QB? Should've ask sooner but I honestly don't know. Bowman is whom I'm most comfortable with but Davis Warren has a closer game to JJ. Orji hasn't really thrown.
October 14th, 2022 at 7:15 PM ^
Hoping for an Orji in the end zone tomorrow!!!
October 14th, 2022 at 7:26 PM ^
And a happy ending in Ann Arbor with a Michigan win!
October 14th, 2022 at 8:04 PM ^
If there is an Orji, we will win
October 14th, 2022 at 11:40 PM ^
If there is an Orji, then everyone is happy (except PSU).
October 15th, 2022 at 7:09 AM ^
I don't know man - Frames is probably down for an orji.
October 15th, 2022 at 10:40 AM ^
They at least get to watch it
October 15th, 2022 at 8:30 AM ^
Yes, and I also hope Alex scores a touchdown!!!
October 14th, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
I thought Bowman didn’t travel to IN possibly indicating he’s not in the mix at #2.
October 14th, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
I thought he didn't travel because he was injured.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:19 PM ^
There is a 0% chance a healthy Bowman wouldn’t travel.
October 15th, 2022 at 8:06 AM ^
There’s a decent chance of a healthy Orji
October 14th, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Yeah that’s not what that would indicate at all. Even if he’s not #2, he’s still #3 and there’s a 0% chance you travel without your top 3 QBs.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
IIRC Davis Warren came in before Bowman in the Hawaii game.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
Like Cade and JJ, Bowman and Warren each got a crack at third string. Bowman came in during the Colorado State game. Warren came in during the Hawaii game.
If healthy, I'd bet Bowman has the edge. He threw for over 5,000 yards at a 67% completion percentage with 33 TDs (and 17 INTs) at a Big 12 school.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:49 PM ^
Obviously sample size is (extremely) limited but Warren has looked a bit better in my opinion, but I also think they’d give Bowman the nod simply due to his prior experience and he’d get the game manager role.
October 14th, 2022 at 10:10 PM ^
Pfffft. Any of us could have played QB against Hawaii.
October 14th, 2022 at 10:30 PM ^
Bowman came in before Warren in a different cupcake game. I believe the coaches viewed them as equals and let's hope we don't find out who really is next up.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
I believe it’s Davis Warren. But, if it’s just taking a snap here or there any one of those three guys could come in.
October 14th, 2022 at 11:21 PM ^
Warren traveled to IU last weekend and Bowman did not. Appears Warren is #2 until Cade is healthy.
Edit: board wasn't updating for me so I didn't see this had been mentioned already.
October 15th, 2022 at 4:55 AM ^
I dont think there's an order after Cade. They all have such different characteristics and none stands out as a clearly a better QB. It would come down to game situation really. Maybe Bowman if I had to pick one but Orji and Davis Warren both could easily get the snaps if QB mobility is important to the game situation.
October 15th, 2022 at 6:16 AM ^
Bowman didn't travel to Indiana last week
October 14th, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
NHG might as well redshirt at this point
October 14th, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
He already redshirted, but it was during the COVID year, so not sure if it counts.
Either way, it would mean his first game of the year would be in Columbus.
October 14th, 2022 at 9:59 PM ^
It would have to be a medical redshirt, so no more games this year.
October 14th, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
No, he still has his redshirt. Covid year gives him one extra year whether he played that year or not.
October 14th, 2022 at 11:34 PM ^
They changed that rule. You can play 4 games during the year. Doesn't matter when. But if it's going to be a medical redshirt it probably looks better if you only play at end of the year. Or the beginning.
October 15th, 2022 at 12:00 AM ^
In 2018 there was an NCAA medical redshirt rule change. According to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Scott Young, “the NCAA has two requirements for a medical redshirt; the injury must have occurred in the first half of the season, and the athlete must have competed in less than 30 percent of the season. You must provide documentation of the injury, and it must be considered season-ending.”

Thanks for the information. Never new that about the medical redshirt. I don't know why it should matter when you get hurt! But I also know the NCAA. They do grant a lot of waivers that people don't hear about.

Not sure why it's not in the report but I strained my thumb playing basketball
I wont need it to operate the remote for the Michigan game, but I may be limited for the all the other great games in the afternoon. I'll play hurt and my beer arm is still 100%

I feel like All is done for the year (Balas report, he didn't say All by name but it had to have been All, Keegan or Zinter and the two OL are back healthy), but they keep listing him as gamesmanship.
Interesting that Cade is OUT (and not doubtful). I heard he's aiming to come back after the BYE against MSU.
October 14th, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
Hasn't All been practicing with limited contact? I find it hard to believe that anyone who is still practicing in any capacity would be done for year (especially a guy who is headed to the NFL).
My guess is that he's back for MSU.
October 14th, 2022 at 7:53 PM ^
Maybe he has a broken wrist/finger/hand and he can practice with a club on for conditioning, but has no chance of playing in a game? Just throwing out a guess.
October 15th, 2022 at 12:24 AM ^
All's situation has seemed weird to me. To start with, it surprised me he came back this year, since he really should have been on the NFL's radar screen after some of the stuff he did last year. I would have guessed his injury last year also would have give him some impetus to start getting paid NFL money. But that didn't happen.
Then there's this rumor that some mysterious player has a season-ending injury, and some Internet detectives decided, without any substantive confirmation, that it must be All. Last I heard, Harbaugh refuses to say anything about All's injury or status. All just isn't playing. I'd guess it's just gamesmanship, but ever since Dylan McCaffery's adventure, I've worked under the assumption that some of these guys are missing games for other reasons that are, well, none of my business. It's annoying as a fan, but it really is none of my business.
October 14th, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
I would be surprised if Jones is back this year. If what happened to him, happened to me, I would still be on the ground.
October 14th, 2022 at 11:42 PM ^
Sounded like high ankle sprain. So 4-6 weeks. But offensive lineman can be tougher than the average Joe.
October 15th, 2022 at 9:44 AM ^
Granted treatment has changed in the last 20 plus years I remember when I had a high ankle sprain in my fourth game my senior year and it literally took me a good year to feel right again
October 14th, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
Did we ever hear what happened to NHG? I thought I remember reading that they were holding him out of the UConn (?) game as a precaution, but he could have played if needed. And yet a month later he's still out. Would love to get him back; our LB play seems like our biggest weakness right now.
I've sadly already mentally penciled in All as done for the year based on the rumors we heard, although I guess if he did somehow come back before the end of the year that would be a pleasant surprise. And not super surprised if Jones doesn't play this week with the way he was rolled up on. Hopefully we can get by PSU and have NHG, Jones and Cade back by MSU...

Soft tissue/hamstring. Notorious for lingering pain
October 14th, 2022 at 10:39 PM ^
Man I hate hearing about those in sports. I feel like hamstring injuries take months to completely go away. During a season a player could be out for weeks then suddenly feel pain-free, play through it, then reaggravate it and be out for another month. So frustrating.
October 14th, 2022 at 9:52 PM ^
Should we just assume NHG is done for the year at this point?
October 14th, 2022 at 10:01 PM ^
Yeah, I'm wondering if NHG was the guy rumored to be out for the year, rather than All...
October 14th, 2022 at 10:03 PM ^
Nah, obvious plan is obvious. Hold out NHG all year. Create the only weak point in your defense, convincing your opponents to plan to exploit it. Do just enough to win all year. Then, hours before kickoff vs OSU in Columbus, unveil your fully weaponized NHG in all his glory, unleashing hell against Ryan Day’s Buckeyes as an entire season of planning for the Michigan game blows up in their faces. OSU loses 42-27 again, Ryan Day is fired, OSU fails to step in shit with their new coaches, leading to an unending string of 8+ loss seasons until the heat death of the Earth as the sun swallows our planet destroying all life as we know it, a death so savage and complete that it might as well be someone trying to tackle Blake Corum.

The fact that both of those threads about Cade’s injury were deleted by the mods tells us everything we need to know about their veracity (note: 100% true).
October 15th, 2022 at 12:14 AM ^
Was hoping Cade would be back. Please stay healthy JJ.
