Imagine being OSU

Imagine having to orchestrate an NCAA investigation because you are going to get blasted for the third straight year.  Imagine having the best receiver in the country and still snapping pictures of empty seats in the crowd to try to avoid playing your biggest rival or have the game not count.

OSU sucks now.  And all they can do is shadow-run an investigation because they are going to get embarrassed.  And all of their fans support it.  Scared.  Very scared they are.

Well let’s see if they want to play.  Or what they have to say about it.  This was obviously lead by Ryan Day and Greg Schiano.  So what does Ryan Day have to say about it.  Do they want to play Michigan?  Let’s here them say it.  They are going to get their ass kicked, so I wouldn’t blame them if they said no.  It would be a good move for them.

He did say at halftime there were “some other things going on that we have to overcome” or something to that effect. Assumed he was accusing us of being too rough on his players like a little bitch but could be he was talking about this like a little bitch.

So we know it was OSU? This thread sucks. Would be fine with mods deleting this. We’d be calling for heads at OSU if this was the other way around… oh wait we’ve seen that before.

Every stadium has cameras everywhere.

What would have been funny - Stalions put the tix on StubHub real cheap Friday night, some random OSU or PSU fan buys them, that person starts videoing a play* with his phone and security drags him away.  The fan would have definitely been "WTF????"

----

* this play would have been either a punt, an Allar incomplete pass or OSU rushing the ball for 1.9 very tough yards.

Michigan's on their own on this one.  The opposing coaches aren't going to say anything.

You say "Michigan is going to blow PSU out anyway", and that implies this sort of scouting has only marginal (if any) benefits.  But then why do it?

I'm not unsympathetic here - if PSU was in line for a Championship season, I couldn't imagine it being overshadowed because some folks were against-the-rules scouting games like "Minnesota @ Northwestern" (NU played Minnesota the week before PSU).  But at the same time - I'd be mad at the folks who were putting everything at risk for that.  You're better than those teams anyway!

I said this somewhere else a few days ago and some people didn't like it. Maybe it was my tone, so I will try to be calmer.

Yes, it's a marginal advantage, but probably mattered very little and didn't earn a single extra win.

So why do it?

Because people--especially highly competitive people--are nuts and want every single edge they can get, no matter how small. It's an obsession.

I didn't think about it that way --- but it makes sense.  Michael Jordan would be the classic example of this - that dude was insane.

Craziest story I heard on his competitiveness: Pippen was supposedly bigger "down there" than MJ.  Well, MJ couldn't really do anything about that, but he still couldn't lose.  So he propositioned the women Pippen was bedding (including Madonna!), telling those women he would satisfy them better.

This poor fellow thinks Penn State somehow has a chance. He wants to believe Michigan must've had our signs. That's why we couldn't stop them from running right through us.

Penn State's offense is going to die vs Michigan defense, sorry. Just like it did vs OSU.

Elite/Winning people and teams investigate all avenues where possible.  Most R&D money proves something doesn’t work. The Captain was chasing an angle, pursuing a hobby, testing theories for himself.  As a data geek myself, I relish any opportunity to get more data (hopefully at an affordable price and in an ethical way)

I believe Harbaugh didn’t know because the scouting didn’t produce any results.  Harbaugh was never so impressed to say, “How did you know/do that?”

Every stadium has high-res cameras everywhere now.

I remember during the 2010 South Africa World Cup, they had a function that allowed people to zoom in on themselves in the stadium, so they can “snap” a photo of themselves watching the match.

The tech 13 years later probably allows them to see your individual nose hairs now in the stadiums.

Their coach is so soft and fan base so fragile.  The fact that this is what they are grasping onto tells you everything you need to know about that program.
He’s now cried about Clemson, UGA, and UM cheating and stealing signs.

The idea that some super fan and his army buddies with iPhones could topple the billion $ football factory that is OSU is the ultimate 3rd base mentality
