The paradox of being a knowledegable michigan football fan - loving michigan football and hating michigan student-fans.
- Before I get started, brief background - I was an all-state high school football player in Michigan, got my B.A. and M.A. from Michigan in education, and am now an out of state high school teacher and football coach.
Here's the thing about Michigan-student fans (which make up the vast majority of posters on this site):
95% of them have never strapped on a helmet. In high school most of them were cross-country runners, band members, quiz-bowl studs, etc. and had little interest in, or knowledge of, football. But, with football being what it is here, they take an interest...and being the smart/confident kids they are...consider themselves to be 'experts' by their sophomore falls. Some actually do manage to develop reasonably informed football opinions, but most don't.
This 'student-fan' is what makes up the majority of the mgoblog community, and also - eventually - the majority of our alumni base. It's a hard thing to deal with. It ruins most of the intelligent conversation that could occur on this board, it turns our coaching searches into absolute chaos, etc. (see cat pictures, internet-nerd-insults, les miles-love, brady hoke-hate, etc.). It sucks, but it is what it is, and you have to deal with it. The solution? Ignore what people on boards like this have to say, search hard for those rare UofM students that actually played football, and get to know some good 'wal-mart's.'

I bet if you tried skimming the board for only things you are interested in and not getting involved in dick-waving contests you can rediscover your MGoLove. That's what I do, and no one is forcing you to read forum posts or comments.
October 16th, 2009 at 6:10 PM ^
Dick-waving contests sound like fun. Where do I sign up?
October 16th, 2009 at 9:33 PM ^
craigslist?

Ruined the "fun" of the site? Who the hell you think made the fun in the first place, D-Bag?
FAIL.

But we were just getting to know one another!
[Edit: At least he booed us. That should make MGoBoard better.]

We don't need you. Your negativity was bringing us all down anyway. Happy trails.
October 16th, 2009 at 3:44 PM ^
But I like you, why don't you like me?

That rolls of the etongue nicely

that actually makes more sense then the current title.

Also could have gone with the Sam's Club Spartans, which fits in with the whole Walmart thing and because Sam's Club wishes it could be Costco.

This seems like an obvious attempt to get negbanged to oblivion just to test how far you can go. I'm +1'ing you for the effort.
October 16th, 2009 at 5:56 PM ^
It seems like posters have been especially reckless in the days leading up to the Delaware State game. I wonder if fans' typical preoccupation with worthier opponents just isn't there this week...leading to all this craziness.
Just an observation.
October 16th, 2009 at 3:46 PM ^
but can't stand the e-message webbernet talking board forum? Outrageous!

Were you the guy in the ski mask that just left a package on my porch? If so, was I supposed to sign for it? You left in a hurry and didn't give me the chance..........

the OP is somewhat confused. This is his second time posting this comment, first as a response in another thread, then he takes the time to make a new post with his topic.
Which is generating comments like mad.
What he perhaps meant to say is that he is jealous of all the people of outrageouly funny sense of humor and sharp perception and intellect he finds on this board as opposed to the massive trolls and maroons he finds on the boards on mlive and espn.
Or perhaps he's just an asshat.

Grey (international and some parts of the U.S.) or gray (some U.S. only – see spelling differences) describes the tints and shades ranging from black to white. These, including white and black, are known as achromatic colors or neutral colors.
I'm not a fan of the asshats here. I just have to live with them. As a result IDK and I don't care how they spell GREY. I like to spell it with an 'e'.
Thanks for the input.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:05 PM ^
As I read my own reply I realize how backward TUOOS and all its fans. Grey appears to be more appropriate than grAy.
That's IF you can trust Wikipedia. I do hold some reservations there, however.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:16 PM ^
Not the "grey" vs "gray"?
October 16th, 2009 at 7:51 PM ^

that they don't care if they refer to M as Blue and Yellow. Or perhaps blue and gold. Ick.

Is Evanl gonna come back next week, armed to the teeth, and start firing indiscriminately at posters on innocous threads?
October 16th, 2009 at 4:01 PM ^
Your post contains several grammatical errors:
Mgoboard sucks bad. I like the blog site but hate the users. You all suck bad. You have ruined the fun of this site. Booooooooooo!

He had a very clear message and even included some repetition to emphasize his point.

However, the author of the piece did not match up with the signature of the work, so that created some confusion on my part.

Therefore, I declare a draw. However, what if it's a she? Girls are kinda sexy when they get mad.

On the other hand, it could be a horse-faced girl. Which is NEVER cool. Example, Rebecca Lobo.

Still a draw.

True love is hard to find, sometimes you think you have true love and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a goddamn magic show ready to double team your girlfriend...

If it sucks at all, it would suck 'badly', which it does not.
You sir are an uninformed, uneducated un...cola I couldn't think of any other "un"s.
Seriously, if you don't like it here, simply and quietly LEAVE!
See the use of the ADVERB end in "ly"!
October 16th, 2009 at 5:00 PM ^
...he means bad as a noun, as in that which is bad. In which case, the sentence is just nonsensical.
Either way, I'm going to miss him.
