wow, you know his coach has confidence in him when he gave him 4 kicks outside the 50 his junior year. I can't say I had that type of confidence with extra points this year. Some of those kicks look like absolute bombs. I love we are finding the final pieces to the puzzle. Our time is coming!!!

Compact leg swing and nice high launch angles. Not going to see many kicks blocked. Plenty of leg to get it into a d1 end zone too.

<br>Those fake punt runs aren't going to work in the B1G though :) but he looks like a man among boys in his highlight reel.

But my favorite part from Scout-

<br>"He is the top field goal kicker in the nation in the Class of 2011".

How about because he's a member of the team. Kickers can develop a relationship with a coach the same way any other player can. I would've thought this year had taught us that we need to take the kicking position seriously and can't take an attitude like this towards it

Unfortunately, Gibbons hasn't panned out.  This may be one of the hardest positions to project as they can longer use the block they use in HS.  I hope everything works out for Matt and he makes them when he gets a chance.  Though I would always prefer 7 over 3.  Go Blue!

I did not lie I typed his name in again and I came up with the same result as you, I have no idea how this fluke has happened but maybe the Michigan God's wanted us to see the truth. Very strange though.  So I just added him and he accpeted within seconds lol.  And added me to his list of nearly 1300 friends.

What happens to Gibbons?  Wouldn't want to see them yank a scholarship from him, but I'm not sure if there's a precedent for that with kickers and whatnot that I'm unaware of.  Feel free to enlighten.

Well hopefully he can get his stuff together and start making kicks when they count.  Coaches have repeatedly stated he does fine in practice but it hasn't translated to games.

This is the first time I've jumped on MGoBlog at 3am and actually learned something new instead of just putting off sleep! His film looks awesome. Smooth, consistent, and there are touchbacks. Not sure what that motion the refs keep making after he kicks fieldgoals is though. It's like they're trying to raise the roof, but lack the energy to continue making the motion after their arms are all the way up. I've never seen it before.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Chris Sailer has a really comprehensive website for kicking prospects.  Here's his write up on Goudis:

Matt is simply an outstanding all around kicker.  He has a huge leg, makes FG's with ease off the ground, and kickoffs with the best of them.  Mentally he is very strong showing great maturity to kick at the next level.  Can also punt.  Has all the tools to dominate the D1 level.

The site ranks him number 2 in the class and has a lot more information.
