Welcome to Michigan ! Now if I can just figure out how to pronounce his name...
Its Son-Tay
@Samwebb
#Michigan commit #18 Csont'e (pronounced Son-Tay) York was deserving of the WR MVP at Saturday's NFTC in Columbus
I wonder if that's "Sun" or "Sahn". I'm still slightly confused.
I've heard Sahn-tay before but it had more pronounciatin on the initial syllable. See-ahn-tay kinda but quick at the beginning lol...
All your MVP are belong to us
I love how the coaches are so far ahead of the recruiting services on kids like Pipkins, Kugler, and now York. Unranked to Rivals, 3 stars to Scout, but better than any of the WRs at NFTC. :]
This class alone, you can add Conely to the list, as well as Deveon Smith, who was unranked and had no other offers when they offered him. These coaches clearly have the knack for finding talent.
of your statement (which I hope is true) until these guys actually play games at Michigan.
Not to entirely rain on your parade, but wasn't Kugler rated pretty highly from the get-go? Also, Pipkens went from 3 star to 5 star which is a pretty big jump. Doubt Csont'e goes that far. Also, did Jalin Marshall play mainly QB or WR at the NFTC? Because that would be cool if he outplayed him, but if not still cools since he won MVP.
Hello: Csont'e York
Looks like he can take the place of Junior as the jump ball receiver. Welcome to the family Csont'e!!
No kidding. Dude goes up and gets the ball like nobodies business, and he's tall. :]
Hopefully the domino's fall and we land WR #3 as well.
This kid apparently excelled at the NFTC against way above average competition, I'll take it.
This really never gets old.
One the reasons why Denard will be one of my favorites to every play for Michigan.
Congrats, welcome to Michigan Csont'e!
switch the title to hello csonte york
Done!
His recruitment was about to blow up after his performance in Columbus. The coaches got in early and it looks like it is going to pay off.
...really know what they're doing.
That is what sparty gets for slow playing him.
Their recruiting coordinators were out recruiting nationally, this kid lives to close to home.
Their coaches were visiting a top-rated RB prospect on Alpha Centauri, and couldn't get back in time since they, unlike Ohio, don't have two coaching staffs.
aboard Csont'e.
I thought it was International recruiting?
He wasn't on my radar at all, but I kept hearing his name when I was looking at updates of already committed players.
Is the pronunciation, according to Webb. I'm psyched. I think his rankings were about to soar up the charts after the camp this past weekend.
Call him whatever you want, just don't call him late with a scholarship offer.
#MSUrecruitsinternationally
I was THIS CLOSE TO CALLING HIM TODAY
It's not his fault that intergalactic recruiting takes up a ton of time. The round trip to Alpha Perseii 4 isn't short, you know.
Or, he just got a new phone and doesn't know how to use it.
When you're at a brilliant school like MSU and as you know they invented warp speed and Dantonio can do warp 9 and get back to Earth in a jiffy, who needs a new cell phone.
well they come in two's so i'm looking at you Isaac.
I think this now pushes Laquon Treadwell into "best available" territory and much like EJ Levenberry he has a spot for him no matter what. They still need a slot guy like Devon Allen or Stringfellow, so I would have no problem going to 4 WR now.
I don't think we really need a prototypical slot guy necessarily. Norfleet, Hayes and Lewis are all capable of playing in that position. Dileo and Gallon will both be around for the next two seasons as well.
but I think we definitely could use a guy with top-end speed. None of our current players or commits, save maybe Norfleet or Hayes, have the speed to burn people deep. Not that I'm unhappy about the commit, but I think speed is our biggest priority at wideout now.
Not disagreeing with your overall point, but you can remove the maybe from before Norfleet's name. That kid can fly. Same with Drake Johnson.
We really could use some top end speed from our receiving corps, especially with a Quarterback like Morris coming in. If we could get a burner on the field whould can consistently outrun DBs then we could get a lot of deep touchdowns.
Berkely Edwards has speed......
but felt like I'd be stirring up a fight lol. A spot may yet open up for him.
I would like to see us get a WR with a combination of both excellent top end-speed and decent size. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Calvin Johnson-esque player, but someone who is about 6'0 who runs a 4.4 would be great. Nothing against Edwards, he will likely be a good player, however, we already have two gusy on the roster for the next few years who have very similar skillsets as him (shorter, but with great speed).
from me on that one. In a perfect world, Borges could line up Treadwell, Chesson, Darboh, Dukes and York in a 5 receiver look and laugh maniacally while Morris puts on a clinic. I'm just saying we don't know how this is going to shake out. I don't think the door shuts on Edwards until February.
I think he fits that mold perfectly, and outside of Treadwell (who is pretty damn fast), is probably the offeree that fits this mold the best out of the current offers.
Oh my gosh, STOP with the Berkely Edwards talk!
This could be an instance of Hoke getting in on a kid at just the right time before he blows up. I have heard from some MSU people that they have been recruiting him for awhile and expected him to commit upon being offerred. Of course, Dantonio will now not extend an offer and play as if no interest was ever given to the kid.
From his film he looks like he has great ball skills and hands, two of the most important traits for a WR IMO. He does not seem to be particularly dangerous after the catch. I am also a bit worried about where his route running ability is at since his highlight film consists pretty much entirely of fade/go routes, however the same can be said of many high school WRs. This would be an easy fix.
Overall I find Csonte to be an interesting recruit. Hopefully he turns into a steal!
