Hello: Charles Thomas (2019)
He is a 4* Inside Linebacker orginally from Georgia but attending IMG Acadamy. He is currently visiting and is Michigan's first 2019 football commit.

That IMG pipeline!
Mr.Thomas " aint about no bullshit ". This kid will be lethal after two years at IMG. He looks like a senior and probably will end up 6'2" around 245.
His teammate Zac Smith showed out at the big man camp today. He wants to be a fullback in college, runs an electric 4.69 40, and did a back flip at mid field today. Won 3 of 4 strength competitions at the big man camp. 6'2 225. Not sure if scholly numbers will allow us to give one to a FB in 2019, but he certainly seems like a Harbaugh kid.
There's always room for a young man who actively WANTS to be a fullback and has that kind of athleticism.
The 2019 class will be Michgans highest rated class to date.
I certainly think it will be our class with the highest average rating to date. We will see if numbers allow us to make it the highest rated Michigan class overall. Great momentum to start.
Or can someone else give me a "way too early best guess"? This kid is beast. Can't wait to see who joins him.
Since we took back to back large classes the last two cycles, our next two classes will probably be around 20 each, depending on attrition. You could guess the 2019 class would be in the 21-23 range.
As for a current best guess, it is hard because it's super early. We are in on many of the very best in the class though. MGoFish is generally good at putting together best guess lists. Here's his latest for 2019: http://mgofish.com/first-2019-best-guess-michigan-football-recruiting-c… I don't think he actually has any sources, but he follows things closely so his guesses are always a fun read.
The big names we are in the top group for in 2019 (247 ranking in parentheses) are DE Zach Harrison, OH (3rd overall player), QB JT Daniels, CA (8th), OL Devontae Dobbs, MI (9th), S Brian Williams, TX (12th), DL Chris Hinton, GA (14th), TE Grayson Boomer, OK (18th), RB Noah Cain, TX (23rd), DE Stephen Herron Jr, KY (34th), WR Isaiah Williams, MO (50th), WR Marcus Washington, MO (56th), TE Ryland Goede, GA (65th), DT Jowon Briggs, OH (69th, nice), OT Trevor Keegan, IL (74th), OT Logan Brown, MI (86th), RB Eric Gray, TN (87th), OT Quinn Carrol, MN (100th), CB Julian Barnett, MI (101st, not offered yet), S Litchfield Ajavon, VA (102nd), S Marvin Grant, MI (103rd).
That's 19 of the top 103 players where, if their Signing Day ceremony were today, our hat would be on the table. Of that group I think it's safe to say that we are top 3 school for Daniels, Williams, Hinton (leader), Boomer, Cain, Herron Jr (leader), Williams (leader), Briggs, Keegan (leader), Brown (leader), Gray, Ajavon (leader), Grant (probably leader). We are playing catch up with Dobbs but I think we will get there. I also think that we will eventually offer Julian Barnett and quickly become the favorite. Offer may not come until his upcoming season.
This list leaves out a ton of other Top 250-type kids we are leaders for as well, like Nolan Rumler and Anthony Solomon.
Oh hell yes! Excellent work my man! Get em' Coach!
so crazy. It had 19 commits ( eight 5* and six 4*) maybe our '19 class can do that.
Thanks. Why are we playing catchup for the best in-state prospect since Drew Henson?
Didn't pay him as much attention in the beginning compared to OSU and other schools.
His dad and coach are huge Michigan fans. If we put the full court press on him we should be fine.
A man who actively wants to be a fullback? Sounds like he's going to be Harbaugh's favorite player on the team.
In his interview with Sam Webb, he said he didn't care how cold they said it was up here. He isn't here because of any other IMG recruits. He isn't here because of any other Georgia players on the team. He knew this is where he wanted to do business. I really like this guy.
Sickness. Hope he sticks.
Sickness is bad. This seems good. Me confused
Better?
This is an incredibly good sign getting an early commit from a highly ranked player that hits two important pipelines - Georgia and IMG.
I bet this isn't the last this weekend.
Edit: Good call by Brandon Justice - he CB'd Thomas to UM more than 2 months ago before anyone else was talking about him.
I don't think Brandon was the only one that knew. Michigan has had him in the bag since April.
But I hadn't heard his name much and nobody else CB'd him until today.
at 247's competitors.
Wooo, obvious things are obvious!!!!!!!!!!
Wooo, assholes are assholes!!!!!!!!!!
Is that obvious enough for you?
Sorry bud, couldn't resist.
My response was too strong
Way OT here.. but my twin daughters are in class of 2021; incoming freshman.. an to think this kid is 2 years ahead of them is making me freak a bit.
Meanwhile..yay! Welcome to Michigan!
I'm guessing you have fed them enough beer so that by the time they get to Michigan they will be sick of it? If not that might be a good strategy. I have my first daughter coming in October and I'm already freaking out about her going to college.
My daughter starts middle school this year and it freaks me out to know that in about five or six years, she will seriously be exploring the question of where to go to college. It seems like last week still that we brought her home and now she'll be in 6th grade (my son will be in 6th next year). Time flies.
Starting to seriously think about college options. Awaiting results of first stab at the ACTs. Youngest will be in 8th grade this fall. Time seems to move more quickly once they hit middle school.
Older siblings of my kids friends are making decisions, and even getting recruited. Its a crazy thing--kids getting into college. Not sure if its this way outside of California, but SUPER competitive. My friend's kid is a good soccer player, but probably not D1. Enter senior season, and he realized he's fast--runs a 4:20 mile without trying...all of the sudden, if he could get to 4:15, he's D1 material for a track scholly...
Its crazy navigating it all--but it seems to work out. All about finding the right fit for the kid.
I wasn't planning on feeding them beer.
I will accept tips on teen management.
Sorry I worded that badly. My first daughter is due to be born in October. I have no idea what it's like to raise a teen yet. But the thought of her going off to college scares the shit out of me already.
Yes. Don't freak yet. Absorb every single minute! It flies...as the entire world will tell you and you won't understand--even though you think you do at the time--until you see shit in the rear view mirror.
Mine just finished Middle School. Both girls... Good girls; smart, athletic, compliant--and then there's all the growing up. You can't stop it--only embrace. My kids just returned from a one week trip to the East Coast (DC, Philli, NYC). Huge deal--growth experience. But they're at the age where they're figuring out how to not need me--and they push and pull all at the same time. I'm waiting for the boy thing--that is here, sort of..but I see these kids--the 14 and 15 year olds, and it is way more real because they're here..then these football dudes I follow and root for them to come to Michigan. Sheesh.
Just embrace each phase. Its all good...just looking at these "boys" that are in range of my "little girls"..and I had an "OH SHIT" moment!!
((Saturday night drinking mom done reminiscing))
That's good advice. It definitely does go too fast. Going through all this baby-prepping is reminding me of when my boys were born and I can't believe how quickly time goes by! They are 7 and 5 but their births feel like yesterday.
and the oldest of those is due to leave for college in 64 days. all the kids promised me, without prompting, that they'd never get what they called 'the teen disease'. they have kept that promise, not perfectly, but pretty close.
so my advice is this: tie those heart strings with your kids long before the teen years come. that way when some of the rapid changes occur the bond is strong and healthy and no voices need be raised to impart wisdom or obtain obedience.
My reply to all those people who gave me the "omg daughter" comments was simply to laugh and tell them they hadn't met my daughter.
Soooo....good thing my wife doesn't have twitter and the availability to see his pics. Hate to let her down.
#ummmm...
I think we are supposed to pretend we don't notice.
He's just trying to show off all his measurables.
Seriously....just a sophomore. Kid is all over the field knocking people backwards.
A commitment from Noah Cain would also be quite nice.
I think we're in damn good shape with him after this weekend. Don't expect him to commit for a while, but this visit and adding his teammate will go a long way.
Sounds like a heck of a player - and fills a need (we'll see how much once THIS year's LB class finds positions). Hope he watches Devin Bush this year, Bush is going to LIVE in the backfield this season.
I just hope he makes some tackles while he's back there.

4* (composite top 200). IMG. Georgia.
Yes.
This makes a happy but I can't even get excited about this yet. So far away. That's a long time to be committed. Hope he hates the recruiting process.
until 2019 NSD!
Hope we don't have to read about Drupal next.
GO BLUE!!
