Heisman Trophy Ceremony Open Thread (& Marinovich Project after)

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Is it going to the favorite? Or will all the still voting for Luck votes put him over the top? Will the race be tight, or a Desmond like blowout?

Followed by the next inspired by 30 for 30, The Marinovich Project.

I didn't really see anything from Mattieu this season, so this may be totally off, but my ballot would look something like this:

1. RG3

2. Wisconsin's O-line

3. Luck

4. Richardson

5.Mattieu

But an SEC player is going to win it. I will never bet against an SEC player to win an award, There is no justice in college football.

Not to venture into dangerous territory but regardless of your religious beliefs it's nice to see someone thank God for something meaningful like his family and friends rather than pretending God made you score a touchdown.

Wow surprising the South wasn't more biased for Richardson and if they would have been the award would have went to Luck.

I'm glad that someone from a) not a big name school and b) not the QB/RB for a top 5 team finally won. RGIII dragged Baylor to a 9-3 finish and got the trophy he rightly deserved. This is how I wish the heisman always was

I have absolutely no problem with how this Heisman turned out. I don't know about Richardson being third and in front of Montee Ball, but I'm okay with that I guess. Good to see the voters are thinking something other than just SECSECSECSECSECSECSEC....

...couldn't stop watching the Marinovich Story.  Not oranges to oranges but keep relating this tale to that of young man tate and RR.   It would be very interesting to get Brown's take on this story since USC did not help him stay on track.  Perhaps, he should have opted for the Camper Van lifestyle, played Ultimate, and told his parents to read L'etranger but alas he went to USC and the Raiders.   Don't ride the white horse.

Highly recommended if you missed it.

Yay for RGIII! Maybe this will remove that bad taste from last year's farce. How anyone thinks letting Newton keep his trophy is OK while Reggie Bush can't is beyond me.

Also, you'd think having the first kid would have taught Trent Richardson something about the benefits of condom usage, but I guess not. Just goes to show you the standards that prevail in the SEC - a league that allowed a functionally illiterate Nick Fairley to attend one of its universities.

I don't think his commentary on cam newton's family payments or Trent Richardson's expanding list of progeny before marriage means he is a racist. Nowhere in there did he mention that those problems were a result of race. I would make the same points if Carson Palmer was found to be paid or if Peyton manning had litters of kids outside marriage. I think your insertion of race into an issue where it doesn't matter or wasn't even mentioned probably demonstrates your own racist tendencies and prevents progress of society.

I just loved RGIII's speech.  As much as I loved Woodson as a player, it's always irked me that he never once thanked or mentioned his teammates or coaches during his Heisman speech, and mentioned Michigan exactly once, and only in passing to make another point.  Great to see a kid give a speech like RGIII did tonight.
