I'd wonder if Harbaugh's opportunities in the NFL are shrinking...or if Harbaugh isn't eliminating suitors. I'd guess Harbaugh is intrigued by another shot at the NFL in the right situation which is probably him being close to GM - I'm sure he would only return to the NFL if he avoided the same situation he ran into in SF.

Why is it so hard for people to accept his preference would be to be back in the nfl but the right offer isn’t there? He tried to go back to the nfl last year and didn’t get any bites and it seems to be happening again.

As long as he performs well for Michigan I don’t really care if he would prefer to be in the nfl with a fair amount of authority.

At what point did I say that? I literally said he probably doesn't have an NFL offer with what he wants right now which is probably to avoid another annoying GM situation like he had in SF. To say whether he prefers Michigan or prefers the NFL is something nobody knows

Correct about the non-existence of an offer.

But I didn't think (and apparently he didn't either) that his phone would be this silent. He had more than one great season (2016 ended badly but that was a great team) and a few good ones after inheriting a complete tire fire, and that is after engineering a turnaround at literally every previous stop including the NFL.

It wasn't ridiculous to think someone might hire a guy with that track record. Didn't happen (yet, at least) but it doesn't seem like the biggest stretch to think it would/should/could have.

Have you not noticed the number of mediocre retreads and generally, by comparison, mediocre coaches that get hired?

Harbaugh has been at the heart of some serious reclamation projects and that's exactly what an NFL franchise w a coaching vacancy would need.

I was so excited when I moved here at the prospect of getting to see Michigan play. Then the first two times they played football here were on Halloween night. I love Michigan, but I love taking my kids trick-or-treating more. All the other sports have been awesome and I’ve taken full advantage of that for basketball, hockey and softball.
And I agree, it’s an awesome place to raise a family.

Hiring a guy like Harbaugh (big time name and hefty contract) has not often been the Raiders way. They like to hire assistant coaches, often from within. The "experienced" guys they have hired, with ta few exceptions, did not have head coach experience at a big time college program or the NFL prior to the Raiders (Kiffin, Callahan, Gruden the first time, Art Shell, Tom Flores, Madden). Promoting Bisaccia or going with an unproven guy seems to fit the ethos more than hiring Harbaugh.

As for the Vikings, Ryan Poles is reported to be the leading GM candidate. He has been with KC for 13 years. He has no apparent ties with Jim Harbaugh and it would be an odd fit to hire Poles then Harbaugh, given the reported preference Harbaugh has to operate in the GM role.

That might have been Al's philosophy but so far Mark has been all about splashy moves.  Hiring Mayock out of nowhere, then Gruden's massive contract, and the move to Vegas to get a stadium and more revenue potential.  All of that sounds like a guy willing to pay and to make splash. Not saying that impacts the ultimate decision but I wouldn't confuse Al's preference for what Mark is doing.

I take zero issue with this being the one and only Harbaugh daily rumor/snowflake thread. God knows dumber crap has been posted here in the past few weeks.

The substance of Bacon's tweet is just more non-news, imo. I give it a full-throated "Fart Noise-Wanking Motion."

whispering ….(I’m hiding in the bushes in front of Harbaugh Manor. I just saw Jim and I have good news and bad news. The good news is he was in a Michigan Snuggie. The bad news is he was playing Madden as the Raiders!!!!)???

These non news updates are starting to feel like planted stories. Where did the Vikings come from? It looks better for Harbaugh in the grand scheme if he is linked to multiple openings instead of just the Raiders (especially if he is using the interest as leverage). I know the report is that he has his offer from Michigan but I still find it weird that there is no numbers being mentioned at all. There are always rumored numbers reported in these situations.

"He's the most known quantity on the market."

That may be the problem.

I used to work with a guy who went to Bemidji State with Trent Baalke. Good friends. He and his wife would fly to SF for games, and now do the same in Jacksonville. They have a very low opinion of Harbaugh because of what they heard from Baalke. I was always defending him. I suspect Jim's reputation took a big hit throughout the NFL due to his time with the Niners. Yes he won a lot of games, but he may also be seen as too much of a headache.

I don't know who Harbaugh is flurting with now.  All I know is that once the outcome is determined, Chris Balas at the Wolverine will claim credit for having previously "pointed his readers" toward that outcome.  Bacon may not have great sources, but his credibility is impeccable when compared to Chris "the king of hedging" Balas.
