Harbaugh puff interview with BTN
Coach Harbaugh was on BTN earlier today for an interview with Dave Revsine and Dave Wannstedt. The conversation was relaxed and light on substance, but for those who have 15 minutes to kill on an otherwise slow Tuesday, it's available on Youtube. Interview starts at 15:20.

Some highlights and Harbaugh-isms:
- Strong praise for the front seven. Says the dominance isn't quite a "surprise" but identifies that unit/position group as playing even better than expected
- Says the secondary was the unit expected to be the most "in progress" but mostly just because of injuries. Happy with performance, singles out Sabb, Q. Johnson, and Wallace for praise.
- Reaffirms that a national championship is one the "goals" for the team, but artfully dodges saying whether the national championship is the "expectation"
- He gets his haircuts at GreatClips (very on brand)
- Says the gameday experience is "like being in the dentist chair getting a root canal done on you for three hours" in the sense that the focus is usually on the negatives through the game and in the postgame press conference. Said a silver lining of watching the games on TV was getting to hear/appreciate the positives from the commentators
- Rutgers "is an one of those [opponents] that you gotta bring your lunchpail." Sure, Jim

If this is indeed a NC type year.. who is our Iowa? Is it Penn State? Is it the Rut? Who is that team that will make us doubt all things, only to have the boys furiously storm back. By Iowa, I'm referencing the near debacle in 1997!
I wonder if Rutgers is it... though I think the team has been sleep walking and Rutgers, B10, Harbaugh, 12 noon... should get them going. Plus JJ's awful game will have him focused.
But maybe not. .maybe we're down 10-3 after 1... some of the doubt sneaks in.. before we get 2 more possessions for the rest of the game and win 24-10

If it helps, I will be at the Rutger game sitting in the same seats I sat in for the Iowa 1997 game. I have not sat in these seats since that game.
Remember what It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia teaches: every single thing, that every fan does, impacts the game.

Yeah I don’t love where that Maryland game is sandwiched in. I think some games will be even tougher with the target on our backs.
September 19th, 2023 at 8:02 PM ^
Have you watched Maryland this season? They got Gattised.
September 19th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
Does Gattised have one “s” or two? I’m thinking it should be two.
September 19th, 2023 at 8:57 PM ^
Gattis a good question!
September 19th, 2023 at 10:13 PM ^
Maryland is 3-0 with a schedule that’s no worse than ours and Tagovailoa has thrown for 889 yards.

What does Harris need to do for some praise? He was a walk on and hasnt been best as bad as Wallace in some instances.

I've been going to Great Clips for 15 years. I like the russian roulette aspect of finding out which person is going to cut your hair. I had a trainee once that was using a ruler to figure out how much hair to cut. The cut was so bad that someone else had to come over and try to fix it.
September 19th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
Ha I once had a similar experience at Sport Clips. Went in for a fade (1 to a 3 or something like that, nothing too hard). The lady did a 1 on the side, a 3 on top, and absolutely no fading of the two different lengths. Had to have another lady come over and finish it for her.

I took my then 11 year old son to Great Clips and omg, his haircut made him look like a meth addict who cut his own hair with a dull pocket knife he stole from another meth addict.
September 19th, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
Didn't know the reputation of great clips. Took my kid there day before K pictures. He's in fifth grade now and has had like three haircuts since. He did not like that. Looked like a bowl cut.
September 19th, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
I used to go to Great Clips (or similar places) but one time I walked out and one sideburn was about an inch shorter than the other (I don't even have long sideburns).
Since then I started going to an old school barber shop (they call themselves a "Gentleman's Barber Shop"). The kind of place where they put the hot shaving cream on at the end and straight razor your neck, use the hand massager on your neck and shoulders, awesome...
But my favorite barber at this place, because he could cut the fuck out of my hair, was this really old dude with shaky hands. It was always an ass-puckering experience when he would break out the straight razor.

My now 23 year old son (the aforementioned 11 year old) goes to the same woman he went to post Great Clips and she is terrible, too. His hair looks like Prince Valiant but without the bangs, and I know that's not the look he's going for. But he's an adult now so I can't say anything. I think he just can't be bothered with finding someone new.

Sounds like a real struggle.
Buy him a Flowbee and call it a day.
September 19th, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
Flowbee's are not cheap.
September 19th, 2023 at 6:51 PM ^
Then, make sure to have your husband's commitment
I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
September 19th, 2023 at 6:56 PM ^
Which begs the question: At what age is it inappropriate to use Flowbee?
September 20th, 2023 at 11:24 AM ^
I had to google "Flowbee" because I'd never heard of it, and found this:
... tagged with the question "Does Mark Zuckerberg cut his hair with THE FLOWBEE®️?"

Yea I once went to a Great Clips grand opening because it was a $3 haircut, and I didn't get my money's worth (I actually refuse to call it Great Clips in casual conversation I call it OK At Best Clips).
Ditto Sport Clips, they all suck. I go to the same salon and have (usually) the owner cut it. Just have to make sure they do a lot of guys hair, it's trickier than it seems. It may be be $30-$40 more per cut, but I'm only getting 8-9 cuts per year and I look at my hair every day. No sense getting a shitty haircut to save a few bucks.
September 20th, 2023 at 9:45 AM ^
Honestly, what would be your "money's worth" for a $3 haircut?
September 19th, 2023 at 6:14 PM ^
"The kind of place where they put the hot shaving cream on at the end and straight razor your neck"
I only discovered this a few years ago, but I insist on it now. It's sort of the "happy ending" of haircuts.
Leave it to a JH interview to get us discussing barbers...
Edit: In using the term "happy ending" I mean no allusion to any coach of any team, past or present. Any similarities are coincidental.
September 19th, 2023 at 6:27 PM ^
Agree, I always get that too. Don't actually need the shaving cream, they keep I in that disinfectant liquid, less messy without but great either way!
September 19th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
i could be in barber college. i cut our 5 boys hair for decades. now they are late teens or college, so no more of that, but ho boy, 5 at a time. next!
September 19th, 2023 at 11:23 PM ^
I noticed you didn’t say you cut their hair WELL. Some dad barbers I knew were masters of a buzz and nothing else. Hopefully you did more than make the poor guys look like tiny Marines. :-)
September 20th, 2023 at 6:22 AM ^
i did okay, nothing ever bad or that needed to be redone. that said, short hair for our boys was the norm around here. the twins would ask for a '1' on the sides and a 2 or 3 on top. i could taper fairly well. oldest son now has longish hair (he's in his 20's), but none of the other boys do. as they get older we let those choices be theirs, and of course when they turn 18, we add no input into things like that.
September 20th, 2023 at 11:21 AM ^
Okay?

We practiced on young baboons at the Simian Barber Institute of the Serengeti.

Not sure if that's a relative of yours or of MeanHoe007?
September 20th, 2023 at 1:33 PM ^
:-) now, now, Rob. I wouldn't define Joe as a Hoe; more like a free spirit with boundary issues.

A classic slip of the fat fingers, but once I noticed it I knew it was a keeper!

When I get a haircut I take 27 8x10 glossy color pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one to tell me what each one is. Just so I can make sure it's done right.
Thanks, Arlo.

saw him do that live in sacramento, halloween of '84. fun.
September 20th, 2023 at 8:00 AM ^
Still have nightmares of my dad giving me bowl cuts in the garage. Can't remember how old I was when it stopped, but probably too old.
September 20th, 2023 at 12:15 AM ^
I no longer go to Great Clips because I found a decent barber, but there's one easy trick to getting a good haircut at Great Clips: identify the ugliest woman there and request her. The pretty ones get tips from morons regardless of the quality of cut they provide. The ugly ones can't make any money at it unless they're actually good.
September 20th, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
I'll say a prayer for you.
September 20th, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
I've been going to Great Clips for years and have never had a problem. I assume if I got a terrible haircut, my wife would send me back or something, and she hasn't.
(Of course, one time she told me "nice haircut" after a day where the line was too long so I didn't get one, so maybe her expectations for me are low.)

The root canal comparison is, for me, a good reminder why M games aren't necessarily fun. If you're a longtime invested fan, you just sometimes really sweat those suckers. Michigan fans know that a lot can go wrong.
A lot of people have said this, but it's so true: Winning a noon game and then casually tuning in for the rest of the day is one of the great pleasures of Michigan fandom.
September 20th, 2023 at 9:17 AM ^
The real root canal analogy is being at the stadium and having to sit through 16 four-minute media timeouts.
September 19th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
Free Harbaugh!
September 19th, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Is it 4:20? I'm thinking of a "puff piece" and the timing that goes with it.
Enjoy...

I came for the weed jokes, puff vs fluff piece. You are the only one so far lol
September 19th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Hopefully having him back just gets everything right and on the same page.
September 19th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
He also mentioned Sam Webb and WTKA. I get my haircut at Great Clips in Florida during the winter. It's always an adventure. I usually walk out with one sideburn lower than the other.
September 19th, 2023 at 7:44 PM ^
Jim praised all the media and only called out Sam Webb. Sam had to be loving it.
