Harbaugh and Al Washington spend Friday with Zach Harrison; Sam Says It's Looking Promising

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on October 29th, 2018 at 8:41 AM

From WTKA this morning: Harbaugh was all over the country on Friday, visiting three prospects in person. He spent the morning with Ohio 5* DE Zach Harrison, and then Al Washington attended Harrison's game that evening. Sam Webb said it's continuing to look very promising, but he doesn't sound close to making a gut call. But Sam said this one continues to trend in our direction, so the Harbaugh visit seems to be a great use of his time that day.

Urbs and another OSU assistant also attended Harrison's game that evening, so the Buckeyes are pushing hard, too.

Harbaugh also visited Eric Gray in person on Friday, helping to keep that commitment solid.

Recruiting is a a crapshoot at times but it is curious this will be a second visit to osu then he is probably going to The Game so that’s a third.   I’d figure it a no brainer to come to AA to see two of his finalists...Maybe OSU isn’t out of the race as previously thought...my guess is if you see offers go out to uncommitted DE this week we have our answer.

This is a good point, though on the other hand, why not make the visit? He already knew he wasn't coming to Michigan for Penn State, and there's nothing wrong with getting more info. I just can't imagine all the smoke with Meyer (scandal + health), Bosa (leaving school instead of rehabbing at OSU), and the general trajectory of the program are helping OSU's case.

I read that Zach Harrison emphasized what it was like to be around Michigan players. He liked being with them. I’m wondering if he’s going to alternate being on both sidelines during the Game, to see how he feels around both teams, to finalize his decision?

No one knows what goes through these young men’s minds.  And Harrison seems to be even more close to the vest.  I know I wouldn’t send my kid to any institution employing urban Meyer for any amount of money in a duffle bag or even a new tractor.  Anyone have insight why he isn’t visiting for the PSU game? Travel restrictions? Timing? If it’s a straight up I’d rather check out oSU-NEB I wouldn’t feel very good about closing

The notion that OSU is out of it is plain silly. With the proximity and how many guys OSU puts in the NFL and Larry Johnson I won’t count them out till he’s on campus and enrolled.  Plenty of top commits take awhile to commit and still go to the obvious contender. DPJ just a couple of years ago took awhile, Will Campbell comes to mind. Going back a ways I really feel like LaVell Blanchard wanted to leave home but ended up staying after waiting late into the late signing period to do so.

He may have the feeling that he wants to branch out and leave Columbus but recruits don’t always do what they want to do. The pressure of family and community is tough, and OSU can show him a real path to success and track record of winning. I don’t think he knows what he’s going to do yet but if when it comes to that time OSU will be the easiest choice.

I have recruited enough to know there is no science to the recruiting business. I have long thought that Michigan was number 2 for Harrison-first to OSU then to PSU. HOWEVER, I believe this has changed and it could not come at a better time in the "race". I think that, today, Michigan has a very good idea of whether or not Harrison is coming to Michigan...and that Washington stayed for the game tells me he is a Wolverine. But as I stated up front-there is no science to the recruiting business. However, beating Penn State may finally be the nail in this coffin...and also, beating OSU would be the straw that broke this camel's back.

I wonder if the biggest loser in the Zach Harrison sweepstakes will end up being George Karlaftis. Brohm ends up elsewhere and Karlaftis loses his spot because Michigan convinces Harrison. I don't believe Michigan has room for both.

Edit: Sounds like Michigan has room for both. I was thinking this year's class had maybe 2-3 spots left, where Michigan definitely has at least one spot reserved for an OL, but I'm forgetting about departures from Hudson and Singleton.
