Happy No Talking About Ugly Argumentative Stuff Friday Thread
Hi guys, I'm not sure what's been happening the last couple of weeks, so let's not talk about it.
Here's a picture of a
and a video of Trey Burke in the first comment.

I put my house on the market last week and I'm under contract already. $25k over asking. Beers on me!

I have a business associate in the Denver-area who is frustrated because his house has been on the market for 2 weeks.
Maybe more importantly, congrats on your contract, although given the low inventory and high demand in Denver (epic 100-year floods notwithstanding), I'm not surprised.

LoHi. I bought when the neighborhood was a bit sketchy and now it's Hipsterville.
My agent suggested I offer it a bit low, $5,000 less than comps, and a bidding war would take place. It did. I got 4 bids the day after being listed. The second highest bid had cash (yeah, cash, I couldn't believe it) so I countered to the highest bid price. They took it.

Hipsterville indeed.
I can get you, or anyone else, a sweet deal on a house in Lafayette -- mountain views galore.

Happy to be moving on a by week. Timing is everything.

Was it AA2Denver's house?
You paid $25K too much.

I have a saturday filled with PeeWee Hockey and 7th grade volleyball. I will try to watch Minny vs Iowa just to see how they both look in Big10 play.
September 27th, 2013 at 12:17 PM ^
Minny == Minnesota, sorry thought that didn't need an explanation.

Yeah this thread is much better than the garbage that was occuring earlier in the week. I just don't get why we can't all get along and discuss football, in a civil manner and when in disagreement (even as severe as it may be at times). Whahhh me, I know. Go Blue. Go Friday. Go Weekend. Go Beer.
How funny is it going to be after we don't play this weekend we rise in the rankings, after two weeks of winning and falling.

what happened this week?
September 27th, 2013 at 11:47 AM ^
FA is back?! So we're gonna get an M baseball preview now, right?
September 27th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
Your M baseball preview: they probably won't be very good. I haven't seen a game in 3 years, so I'm basing this very loosely on last year's performance. That said, I think they make it to Omaha this year. Omaha being the B1G tourney. Not the CWS.
I saw that WLA was back, so I had to see what the bourgeois agenda is with the occult masks.

Paternal leave??? Really???
September 27th, 2013 at 12:44 PM ^
I'm happy to defend jhender85, who I've had spirited debate with in the past. Why the triple question marks -- this is a non-argumentative thread??? Besides, paternity/paternal leave is a great thing on so many levels.
Spread the love, man!
September 27th, 2013 at 12:50 PM ^
I wasn't arguing...my Triple ? is for dis-belief. I have never actually heard of this. My assumption is that he is joking.
September 27th, 2013 at 2:04 PM ^
Interresting...but 11% isn't all that "common" but heck that is good for you and your wife.
I am still sitting at my keyboard stunned...I haven't had a vacation in more than a decade.
September 27th, 2013 at 2:33 PM ^
... and based on my own multiple paternity experiences, it's the opposite of a vacation. It's rewarding, but sure ain't easy, unless your idea of a vacation is crying, burping, spitting up, diaper changing, etc.
September 27th, 2013 at 2:44 PM ^
I know what you are saying, I have had kids of my own. It would have been really nice to have the "break" you are allowed...heck my wife only got 4 wks...and that was a lot...I know it isn't easy...but enjoy it now...all too soon they will want the keys to your car.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parental_leave
The US is increasingly unusual among developed countries for providing so little time off for both mothers and fathers. Not only do most developed countries require several weeks of paid time off, many of the world's best economies also allow a year or more of unpaid leave for either parent.

Wow, great seats at the Final Four.

My office is closing early today for a team outing to Arlington Racetrack, a horse track outside of Chicago. So, basically I'm getting paid to leave the office early and go drink and gamble. Can't beat that!
Have a great weekend all!

Much as I'd love to comply with your title, EECS 281 projects are both ugly and argumentative, and I'll be talking about it all weekend. With my computer. Which hates me.
September 27th, 2013 at 12:23 PM ^
Nothing new for me this weekend. Just more studying for upcoming exams. Happy it's Friday, though!
Interested to see Ohio State take on Wisconsin and Iowa play Minnesota.

Finishing a big report today that has been weeks in process. Leaving work, on a beautiful day, to start a backyard deck project. Happy, Happly, Joy, Joy.

Just received word from the Athletic Department that their estimated show rate for all of Crisler last year was 80%, which means that the non-student show rate would be 89%, which is obviously way too high, which means they were (as suspected) lying about the show rates, which means I can now go about my day in peace with the mystery solved.
No argumentative responses please, as this is a no-argument thread.

I recently finished a piece on my WD experience and thought the board might be interested in it. It is a bit lengthy and nowhere as good as the original, but some might find it mildly amusing on a Friday during bye week. Thoughts?

Our football team is undefeated and our basketball team is going to be awesome again this year. Hooray.
