Those who leave will be sorry.
December 12th, 2022 at 6:30 PM ^
Wish him all the best. He is looking at being 3rd string next year at either spot if Jenkins returns.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
Sad to see him leave, but he should land well on his feet, had offers from the best of the best, and has years of practice going against our O-Line, will be interesting to see where he lands.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:21 PM ^
Those who stay will be here.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:03 PM ^
Anyone from that class that hasn't played I wouldnt be surprised if they transfer. Dixon, Giudice, Bounds(has he played), Bennett. I wouldnt be surprised if Andrel ANthony transfers. I keep seeing people saying he's our new #1 receiver next year and I just do NOT see it.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:32 PM ^
Don’t speculate on people transferring. And Guidice is injured.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:43 PM ^
The whole don’t speculate on transfers thing has always been dumb. But it’s even dumber in the portal era.
We aren’t reporters. This is a fan blog. The point of which is to discuss, speculate, opine on a Michigan sports and it’s athletes. Who gives a rip?
December 13th, 2022 at 8:54 AM ^
I get your point. The problem with transfers, though, is that it implies dissatisfaction within the program, and rumors often create their own feedback loops. And sure, not everyone is satisfied -- Cade and All seemed to have left in a huff. No one's asking you to play propaganda minister. But speculative bad vibes are gonna make you unpopular. You become the sports blog equivalent of that scandal-sniffing aunt always speaking in hushed tones throughout the Christmas family party. No one cares if she's right or not; everyone just wants her to shut up.
While I wouldn't be surprised if a coach never went to MGoBlog for rumormill to spread on the recruiting trail, it certainly isn't beneath them. Muckraking absolutely is a part of the dirty, dirty business of recruiting, and muckrakers are utterly shameless about how and where they get their filth. Also, shit spreads -- what gets said here, appears elsewhere.
Speculate on who's the starter, speculate on what plays the team's working on, speculate on injury status, speculate on the size of Brian's. . . shoes, that's all whatever. Give recruiters something they can use to go "I've been hearing" to HS kids and, well, it's not against the law or ToS, and probably does no real damage, but you're gonna eat some negs.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:46 PM ^
I have a feeling Andrel had a nagging injury this year and some issues adjusting to blocking responsibilities (which are a much bigger deal at UM than other places not as run oriented).
JJ and the receivers never seemed quite on the same page for most of the season until the OSU game. We did enough to get there between the run game and intermediate passing game in all the other games. Cornelius Johnson and JJ were finally on the same page against OSU and it was just in time.
JJ and Andrel will get back on the same page during bowl practice and this off season. Last year's MSU game was not a fluke...Andrel has talent - they just need to get the timing and connection right.
December 13th, 2022 at 9:07 AM ^
What it looked like to my untrained eye is Anthony and a handful of others outside of Bell have trouble reading coverages and understanding leverage. Put that with a young QB who is learning to make reads on the fly you get the janky sax passing game Michigan had for 11 games. OSU took those things out of the equation by running straight up man on man making those reads easier. There wasn't any window throwing in the OSU bombs it was go beat your man and I will throw it out there. You heard Urban talk about our WR having to get open and their game plan certainly made that easier IMO. Most of the teams we played all season acted like we had no run game two high safeties which eliminated a bunch of opportunities down field for JJ and WR. Up until OSU we had done some good work underneath especially early in the season. OSU certainly didn't have that game plan and JJ and the WR exploited it. Day knew its a double edge sword and cuts both way. He was banking on JJ not being able to hit those over allowing us to bleed him on 15 play drives for TD's. He tried that in the 3rd quarter and Michigan obliged him. I think our passing game takes a huge step next year especially with JJ's ability to improvise.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:43 PM ^
Too bad. 4* DL from 2021 class. I assume he never panned out.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:48 PM ^
He seems talented but was stuck behind a pretty incredible freshman class as well as Benny.
This seems like one of those classic portal moves where a kid doesn’t want to wait until his Senior year to make an impact.
I will be curious to see where he decides to go.
December 12th, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
Can you say...Rutgers?
December 13th, 2022 at 3:22 AM ^
Rrrrrrrrrr...
Rrrrrut....
Nope, can't do it.
More like won't do it. Kid deserves better.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
If I remember correct it was between us and Boston College during his recruitment. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there
December 12th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
Thanks for the link. I see his dad was a stud for Syracuse, maybe he ends up there? Good luck to him, Go Blue!
December 12th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^

What percentage of your posting history is posting an entire fictional depth chart into them?
December 12th, 2022 at 6:11 PM ^
73.6%
December 12th, 2022 at 7:33 PM ^
69% would have been better.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Why would Cj Stokes be a possible transfer. He looked good in the limited time he played this season. Cole Cabana is going to need a few pounds of muscle before he can get many carries as a running back.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:08 PM ^
Pretty sure he's saying "CJ Stokes OR a possible transfer we may pick up".
December 12th, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
Correct. A potential power back.
Although, with NHG back, I could see Mullings in that spot.
At this point, I kind of anticipate it.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:17 PM ^
Oh. I see. Yes, I would definitely like to see a running back come in from the portal. Some to complement Donovan Edwards.
December 12th, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
The only problem I have is that Jimmy Rolder should really be a special teams ace:
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Please give a warm round of applause for your holder, Jimmy Rolder."
I'm here all week. Tip your servers.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:15 PM ^
Maybe Rolder the holder can team up with Dicker the kicker in the NFL.
December 12th, 2022 at 6:23 PM ^
Kendrick Bell will be getting a shot at QB, not WR. Don't be surprised if he stays in the QB room as the kid has game and our depth is light.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:11 PM ^
I agree. I just forgot to make that change.
Although I think by January 24, he'll be a WR.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:02 PM ^
Kendrick Bell would need a major overhaul on his throwing mechanics. He could never get away with that low sidearm release against D1 linemen. He's also really thin. I see him playing outside.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
Very good breakdown. I'll really keep an eye on whether CJ Stokes and Davis Warren will go into the portal. I would think Kalel Mullings might stay in the backfield as HB.
Alex Orji has the potential to become a good backup QB to JJ.
Let's see what kind of talent/skill Cole Cabana brings to the RB as a true freshman in 2023.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:47 PM ^
Warren leaving would be brutal. You have to have a solid #2 and Orji isn't that...not yet. It would just be a million QB runs.
Cabana could play in the slot some (ala Henning) as well. I think he's a weapon at RB.
I agree on Mullings...I won't do it until we see the CFP, but I think he's going to be the power back, we WON'T take that potential transfer power back...and we'll role with Colson, Barrett, NHG, and Rolder at LB.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:35 PM ^
There is no way both starting guards return. One or both of them bolts for the NFL. They don't have much left to learn at this level and they've won a lot at Michigan. If they win the title, I bet they both go. No question.
December 12th, 2022 at 8:44 PM ^
lol you went from potentially one leaving to "no question" both are gone...all in the same post. 🤣
Zinter yes, Keegan is basically '21 Ryan Hayes...who came back in '22.
Not sure I understand your point for Keegan.
December 12th, 2022 at 11:18 PM ^
You missed the part where I said "If they win the title". That's how they both go. Nothing left to compete for at Michigan after that. The only reason to stay at this point is to win the natty. If Michigan doesn't win, then one may stay, but I highly doubt both stay.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
I like the list. I have been watching Keon Sabb since he seemingly went from a Clemson lock to the good guys. I am hoping that he can start getting some run. I thought he was/will be a star at Safety
December 12th, 2022 at 8:42 PM ^
It's going to be difficult. But I could see a Will Johnson/Gemon Green situation with Sabb/Morant for that backup safety spot behind Paige.
Morant the backup early, and 2/3 into the season, Sabb is that third safety.
Glad he got some run this year. Wasn't always pretty, but an opportunity to get out there and get your feet wet.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:15 PM ^
Morant? You mean Moten?
December 12th, 2022 at 11:55 PM ^
Benny is a starter next year. Somehow. Too good to be on bench.
December 12th, 2022 at 11:57 PM ^

December 13th, 2022 at 9:12 AM ^
Couple things: We get Keegan and Zinter back look out! Hoping for 1
Where is Okie? He said he was coming back no?
If we can find a CB opposite Will Johnson we may have one of the better defenses we have seen in a while. McBurrows was getting some buzz I think.
December 12th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
Not true. Showed a lot of promise. A lot. But we’ve got Jenkins, Graham, Grant and Benny there too. Crowded. So I believe that’s why he left. Surprising.
December 12th, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
Benny busted a move..
December 12th, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
It's like we never even knew you
December 12th, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
George Rooks died in 1935. So this one is not unexpected.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:48 PM ^
Too bad thought he looked good when he got a chance to play, I suppose with Benny in the same class and with mason graham and Kenneth Grant in the class after writing was on the wall. He was a Don Brown anchor and was a close recruitment with Penn st.
December 13th, 2022 at 9:59 AM ^
Seems like he's a victim of our incredible depth on d-line. Can't really complain if 4*'s are having trouble cracking the 2 deep, even with several freshman among the ranks.
Good luck and safe travels young man!
December 12th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
Based on the little I've read in the defense UFRs this seems mildly unfortunate. His career arc looked OK at this early stage. He must not like the idea of playing behind Benny and Graham the next couple of years.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
Surprised he hadn't put on a little more good weight by now... he's listed on the roster at 278. Then again, Jenkins is only a few pounds more.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:52 PM ^
In the portal does not mean 100% gone. Is there a tracker anywhere that has how many players have entered the portal and then stayed?
