There's lots of chatter about Gardner being an OSU lock, not just on the Bucknuts boards.
That said, almost by definition, it's tough to have credible sources on silent commits (at least effective ones).

Its speculation at this point that it is gardner but it jim tressel did say he has 4 commits but will be withholding the 4ths name. My boss is a huge buckeye fan and he's all over their blogs and he said the consesus over there is that it is gardner.

Rodriguez said we have 15 recruits for 2010. So we have 13 silent commits, Go make a wish list of the 13 others guys you want, if you want to feel good.
Seriously, after the pandemic of verbal decommitments, you are worried about a guy who isn't even verbally committed.
Also, we don't even know which player, it might be Tressel's nephew. It's pure speculation.
Also, Rich Rod announced he has silent committment from his son for the class of 2016.

comes from. You can't tell me that if TomVH came on here and said X is a silent M commit that you would totally dismiss it out of hand.
And I wouldn't say we are worried - just trying to gather information and have something to talk about. 2010 signing day is a long way away. We need something to do until then.

Regardless of who your sources are, how can he be a silent commit without an OSU offer? I'm not saying he's going to sign with Michigan, but if OSU hasn't even stepped up and given him an offer, how would they accept a commitment from him?
Look, they may offer him tomorrow and he may announce that he's committing on the spot, but until they offer, I remain confused.

maybe osu made a silent offer which was then silently accepted by DG. A year from now he will sign an LOI with osu (silently, of course)and doubters such as yourself will be silenced.

Umm no. He posted a Bio on his facebook page the other. (Key Note:his own bio) and he doesn't even list an offer. So I don't believe this for one second. Homerism may be a factor in this. though.

I don't know, the things I have been reading, which aren't really much I guess, are saying that he's going to take his time. He also doesn't seem head over heels for OSU where he would commit this early, even silently. The bucknuts board seems to have thrown out many likely names. The posters in the know seem not to be throwing out gardners name out right. I kind of doubt its Gardner this quick.
My bet is an Ohio kid that has loved OSU forever and has already expressed major OSU love.

he's a 2010 guy, if we're depending on him to come in and start right away that means we did terribly this coming season. what you should want is for tate/denard to do well this year so that DG becomes more of a luxury rather than a necessity.

all along has been Gardner will be a Buckeye and battle with Pryor and that 2011 kid..Braxton something or w/e his name is..and that we can focus on Christian Green as our "elite" QB for this class with Robert Bolden and Malik Stokes as our "extra" QB for the class. If I'm way off base here, feel free to correct me.

thinks Michigan is HIGH on Green's list. According to BuckeyePlanet, which i find to be an excellent source for recruiting info despite blatant OSU bias (can't blame em for that): "scUM is supposedly going hard after him and the interest is mutual so I thought that this deserved a thread." No responses to that thread yet, so it's not worth linking it. Either way, I'd be perfectly happy with Gardner or Green. It doesn't matter to me if we get the in-state or out-of-state kid. (and i say that because, think about it...did anyone ever say to themselves after a Mike Hart TD run that they wished it was Grady scoring instead? i doubt it)

I still don't understand the in-state obsession, outside of PR reasons. I say go with merit alone. I wouldn't mind never getting another Michigan kid ever, if we are filling up on better talent elsewhere. If the 25 best recruits in the country suddenly become concentrated instate, I'll be all for in-state bias. Our strength is in national recruiting.
And that is great news about Green if true.

i also would be happy with either one but I do think it matters who. Grabbing DG would be a great pickup as far as an in-state recruit standpoint.

that i'd grab Gardner over Green to start with. My theory is this. If you have a need, and you have two equal prospects, you take the in-state kid first, since it's, in theory, easier to get him on board due to distance. Since I think it's likely that Gardner is actually better than Green, you take him first. I'm just saying, I'd be perfectly happy with either one of them, regardless of home state.

and another point I just thought of now - the instate guy is also superior (assuming roughly equal talent) because if we don't get DG, chances are pretty good that he will end up on a team that we play a lot. If we take him then it forces regional schools to settle for a lesser regional talent. Most of our opponents couldn't land a top FL QB, though.

Geez almighty - pay attention to Michigan basketball and hockey. Pay attention to the 2009 Michigan football season. There is no reason to pay attention to 2010 recruits until, say, September 2010.

Chill. People are going to discuss recruiting. It's a big part of what the board is about. As far as I can tell, no one on this thread is wigging out, just trying to see whats going on with a highly-sought after guy. Like it or not, football recruiting is a year-round event.

Speculating on who will be coming to UM in the future is a lot of fun. Especially when we as fans are coming off of watching a 3-9 season from our favorite team. The future looks a lot better than the immediate past.
I have mixed emotions on the QB thing. Like many people, I am waiting for RR to sign someone between 6-4 and 6-6 who can run the 40 in 4.4 and throw the ball eighty yards from his knees.
That being said, either Forcier or Robinson could turn out to be All-American QB's, despite their less-than-desirable height.
I am hoping that happens.

I think it will be hard for us to bring in a top knotch recruit for 2010. Any top knotch recruit is going to want to start soon. I know that they can red-shirt their freshman year but that still leaves 1 year of eligibility riding behind soemone else or in this case 2 someone elses. If a team like UF were to go after him I think he would jump at the chance to go. Tebow will be gone in 2010 and this is obviously a top knotch program. Tex will lose McCoy and OU will lose Bradford for the 2010 season any of these will have an advantage because of the opportunity to come in and start Freshman year. Don't get me wrong I would love to see a 5 star recruit come in for 2010 but I would think it will be easier to bring in another big name QB in 2011 or even 2012. I could be wrong but I don't know

If I had to guess, I wouldn't be surprised at all that Gardner is headed to OSU. I think Bolden is a better prospect, honestly.
