Close one, but we pull it out:
Michigan 34, UConn 30
August 15th, 2010 at 3:22 PM ^
30-34 sounds about right.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
michigan wins: 38- 19
August 15th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
No mercy, I says.

Sweep the legs.

Strike hard. Strike first. No mercy.
And then we all break into a montage of "You're the best, around..."

We will definitely be putting UConn in a body bag.
I would predict the final score, but my keyboard doesn't seem to have an "infinity" button.
August 15th, 2010 at 6:46 PM ^
It's right by the Any Key
August 17th, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
You just turn your keyboard 90 degrees and hit the 8 key.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:10 PM ^
I just can't see UCONN's offense putting up more than 30 pts against us.. Their QB's were very inconsistent last year, and I doubt our D allows them to run all over us in the opener.
35-24
August 15th, 2010 at 3:10 PM ^
posted this score on other threads......Michigan 42-UCONN 17....i will stick with it.
For some reason i just dont feel they are as good as we keep hearing.
My son is always telling me i have a "spooky" ability to predict the outcomes of games.
I hope this is one of those times.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
A convincing M win right out of the gate against a respected opponent will make everyone sit up and take notice.
August 15th, 2010 at 4:12 PM ^
I think our defense will score a TD Stonum will take a kick to the house. UConn will have a few long drives due to there running game so I dont think our offense will score that many on there own.
August 17th, 2010 at 12:37 AM ^
" due to their running game"...
(Couldn't help myself)
August 15th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
I'll double it.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
UM: 45, UConn: 24.
I think we are going to put up some big numbers this year offensively AND our defense will improve some. I just think Denard brings us an intangible that can't be defended without making yourself weak in other areas, perhaps linebacker pass coverage. This will allow us to sustain longer drives which in itself makes our defense better.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
Denard 42
UConn 21
Michigan will score 49, but Denard will account for 42 of those. Seriously though. I just don't see UConn having the horses to stay with our offense the entire game.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
MIchigan 35, UConn 17. Michigan's defense shows that it may not be as bad as everybody thinks.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:15 PM ^
38-20
August 15th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
31-20 good guys.

That was the exact score I was going to predict but instead of wasting everyones time with reposting the same score I decided to waste everyones time by typing this reply back to you. I hope everyone enjoyed the 14 seconds they just wasted...

This isn't basketball season :s
August 15th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
I am very mixed on this one. Part of me thinks we blow them out and another part of me believes that it's going to be really close. I dont recall the last season opener that I was this nervous for. I say the final score is 31-24 Michigan. We are gonna be up 31-17 with about five minutes left before, Uconn makes it interesting with a late touchdown. This late touchdown inherently makes me really nervous and I start to really pound the beers the last few minutes of the game until the clock hits 0 and we start out the season 1-0.
In short: 31-24
August 15th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
UM needs to win this game much more than UConn does, and I think it will show. I think our bulked-up front 6 will be able to slow down UConn's running game, but the secondary will give up some big plays. I think our offense will be able to exploit UConn's secondary.

Special Teams comes through in the opener for us ! Hail, Hail ...
August 15th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Who do they play in their first game? Looks like a nail-biter...

when Michigan is refered to as "Big Blue" it bugs the hell out of me.

38-17....I just do not see UCONN beating us! I try to be objective but I definitly see a W for game 1, and I think it will be a considerable Ass Kicking!
August 15th, 2010 at 3:27 PM ^
Michigan, in double OT. This presages how the season is going to go. We'll score lots of points, but give up lots of points. Kicking game will be the difference in the majority of the contests, for good and bad.
August 15th, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
We aren't going to beat them by >14, sorry. So much homerism.
Michigan - 38
UConn - 34
August 15th, 2010 at 3:53 PM ^
why not?
August 15th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
They are better than we give them credit for, it's not like we're playing a bad team. Judging by both of our seasons last year, I wouldn't say that we'll win running away. We aren't going to go from having a terrible defense to an awesome one. It will be high-scoring and it will be close. To be honest, I'm not sure that we'll win, and I'm not sure if we will be able to stop anyone this year.
August 15th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
Judging by our last two seasons, we come to play in the opener.
2 pt loss to the rightful national champ in 08 and a 31-7 throttling of a decent MAC team in 09
August 15th, 2010 at 4:19 PM ^
Come on. Florida was the rightful champ in '08, and you know it. That "decent" MAC team went 5-7 and didn't make a bowl game. I'm judging our last season ('08 is kind of irrelevant now, there's been so much turnover), where we couldn't stop anybody. If Cam Gordon can be a servicable deep safety, if JT Floyd can be a decent second corner, if the linebackers can actually read plays, and if our offense doesn't give the ball away like it did last year, then we will destroy UConn. I just haven't seen anything that indicates much of an improvement there. I'd like to be wrong, but frankly it would be incredible if our defense is competent this year.
August 15th, 2010 at 4:28 PM ^
by how much an improved Offense will do to really help the D.
August 15th, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
I hope so.
August 15th, 2010 at 5:12 PM ^
How can you deny 13-0 Utah a claim to the title after that the way they dismantled Alabama?
August 15th, 2010 at 6:18 PM ^
Florida went 13-0 and beat much better teams. Utah has a claim to a split title, but if I had to give the title to one team, I'd give it to the one who ran the table against a better schedule. Florida also defeated Alabama. Utah was by no means the "rightful" champ.
August 16th, 2010 at 12:25 AM ^
Florida did NOT go 13-0
Florida has never had a perfect season in the history of their program.
Utah was the rightful champ
August 16th, 2010 at 12:29 AM ^
Oh sorry my bad. You are correct. Perks of playing in a BCS conference, I guess.
August 15th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
Why are they better than we give them credit for? Their signature wins last year were against a 6-6 Notre Dame team and a 6-7 South Carolina team. I'm not saying we're world beaters, but I don't see why some people are so high on UConn. Yeah, they lost some close games, so did Michigan.
