Freshman with most playing time tomorrow

Submitted by shswhit51 on

Happy football eve.  I'm really excited to see what Freshman will make an impact in tomorrow's game.  Any guesses on who will get considerable PT?

I remember a poster on here named BB(i think? I dunno..my memory is going..ask the wife..hehe) and he said he was Myle Sims cousin?  I never heard of Sims, but the guy seemed to really talk highly of him...hope to see some catches out of Mr. Spider Man! heheh...by the way...what happened to MR. BB?  did he leave?

I honestly don't want to see any. We didn't recruit much in the way of ready-for-the-field difference-makers, and we have an experienced team. Bell might get a few snaps at receiver, since the position is a bit thin, and Tru Wilson might get some playing time at RB, but other than that the only area where we'd be likely to see a freshman is if Mayfield is playing tackle. And that's bad.

The chances of us winning by such a large margin that the second string gets playing time are so remote that it's not even worth thinking about.

Probably right, though Hutchinson could rotate in, and I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like VanSumeren getting some spot snaps in particular downs and distances (for example, it wouldn't be crazy for Harbaugh to roll out some weird combinations so exploit, say, VanSumeren in space if he catches ND flat-footed.

Yeah, I think those 2 get some snaps. Christian Turner maybe too.

Mayfield or Muhammad if they end up needing help with the rush ends, which would be bad!

So, Bell & Hutchinson would be actual "best case" scenarios, meaning they're ready to contribute.

Honestly hard to see any freshman getting too much run tomorrow, which is a good thing.  Turner would see some snaps if he were healthy (he's not, it seems), so I'll go with Hutchinson, who's been billed as being in the 2-deep.

Jake Moody for kick offs, BVS at FB in some cases and maybe Ronnie Bell.

Otherwise, it'll be special teams coverage guys. Don't think we will see as many freshman contribute this year, however look for them to get some time in Week 2 and 3 and later in the year against the weaker opponents considering the new redshirt rule.

Aidan Hutchinson will rotate in and has been mentioned by several coaches as being ready.  Not sure how much Gary will come off the field though if its a close game.

hutchinson, barrett, bell and the kicker seem most ready / likely to play.  they like spanellis so seems like hed maybe handle any 6th OL duties rather than mayfield or hayes out there.  they have plenty of sophs and juniors to cover kicks but i could see guys like barrett, van sumeren, mcgrone, etc earning some special team reps (no frosh DB appear to have distanced themselves yet but well see)

Hopefully it's like McGrone or something with 10 kickoff snaps. That won't happen but it will probably be a guy on special teams.

I'd say Hutchinson gets the most non-ST game action but that might only be 5-10 snaps with Paye backing up both spots. I would be surprised if they rest Gary and Chase at the same time given ND will go tempo in that situation to lock them off the field.
