First one seed falls. Wichita State beats Gonzaga.

I might be overstating this, but I honestly think there's a better chance for the B1G to get 3 or 4 teams in the Final Four than to get zero.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:31 PM ^
Ohio State and Indiana should cruise there, frankly. Michigan is like a 1 in 3 shot, higher if someone (GOOOOOOOOOPHERS!) can take down Florida for us.
Sparty has a tough road, but I like how they match up with Duke. Louisville I like considerably less, because I think Keith Appling secretly sucks.

Ironically, I would like our chances better against Louisville than against Kansas. Louisville might be the better team, but they are guard-oriented and like to press. And we look rather good against the press.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:50 PM ^
Absolutely. I want to play press teams the rest of the way. Withey's ability to alter shots concerns me considerably more than Louisville's press would.

Beilein vs. Tubby is good for like 15 points.
March 24th, 2013 at 12:35 AM ^
Yeah, we're like 8-1 against Minnesota the last few years. They may be familiar with us, but we know their tendencies even better.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:34 PM ^
I'm liking my chances so far.

I wouldn't "like" the chances. Indiana has Miami/Marquette and Syracuse to deal with. We have Kansas and odds are Florida, Ohio State's road is by far the easiest, and Michigan State has Duke and Louisville.
I would go ahead and assume 2/4 won't make it.
March 24th, 2013 at 12:40 AM ^
Cuse can't score. They survive because their length bothers teams in that 2-3 zone. I don't think Indiana will have this problem, and Oladipo will take away Carter-Williams and probably force even more turnovers than he usually commits.
Miami's tougher, but ultimately not as good as Indiana. Marquette's not very good but has gotten VERY lucky to advance.
March 24th, 2013 at 11:45 AM ^
Albeit, this year's Syracuse is not as strong offensively as some of Syracuse's past teams, they still have guys who, when they are playing well, can put some major points on the scoreboard. And, more importantly, as you mentioned, defensively, Syracuse is a headache to deal with. Indiana has not really faced a zone team quite like Syracuse and I think Indiana will struggle offensively. I am not saying Syracuse will beat Indiana but I would not dismiss Syracuse like you have. If Syracuse gets passed Indiana, they are goin go the Final Fou

An all big ten final four with non-big ten refs would be awesome.

the refs from this wichita game aren't called to the final four then. that was an absolute slugfest game, and the refs just let it go

Ohio's chances looked better before Gonzaga fell. If I were a Buckeye, I would want to meet the Zags in the Elite 8. Pretty favorable matchup. Hell maybe they get the Shockers who have proven they're better Gonzaga and have less to lose.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:30 PM ^
How can this be? How can a team that plays a conference schedule as daunting as Gonzaga get knocked out this early?
March 24th, 2013 at 11:53 AM ^
is why having the NBA guys commentating on college games it just plain stupid... barkley's reason behind why he thinks certain teams from the west are better than others is because he lives in arizona... ernie, greg anthony, kenny smith and barkley collectively have no idea what they are talking about, it a lot like when fox had NFL guys doing the bowl games...
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:34 PM ^
First thought I had when I saw the brackets was who is Gene Smith blowing to get such favorable treatment for the Buckeyes? That bracket was a joke from the start. Gonzaga's the softest #1 seed in recent memory and now Ohio can sleepwalk to the Final 4... Joke.
Sparty on the other hand, as to go through Duke and Louisville...

What happened on that Stockton play? Did the ball get inbounded to him and he didn't realize it, so he just walked out of bounds with it thinking the ball hadn't been imbounded yet? Critical mistake that might have ended up costing the Zags the game, given that it led to that 3-pointer for the Shockers. They never recovered.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:39 PM ^
That is what happened. The fault lies with the guy who passed it to Stockton as he was heading out of bounds. If you are passing it to him it has to be earlier.
March 24th, 2013 at 12:26 AM ^
I have no clue what the "violation" was and I am still trying to figure it out, but I do not believe it is as simple as this.
After the play, Gonzaga tried to make a subsitution afterwards, but the refs disallowed it because no time went off the clock as it was a dead ball violation. If it was as simple as the ball was inbounds to Stockton and he went out of bounds, at least .1 of a second should have been taken off the clock (he clearly had both feet inbounds when he caught the ball) and Gonzaga would have been able to substitute.
Does anyone know the exact ruling? I would love to know.

Quit wasting America's time.
If football had something similar to the tournament, Boise would be exposed as well. But that's another thread.

I was confused but I don't know basketball inbounding rules that well.

What was posted here? I only see EricTheActor's replies.
When comments get pulled, it would be great if a placeholder was added noting such. As it stands now, they just disappear and this leads to confusion.

OSU won't have an easy time with Arizona, who seems a lot better than a 6 seed. On the other hand, getting out of the Big Ten has done teams a world of good.
