Evening / Late Night Games Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

I was frankly shocked that no such thread was currently up as we're typically so conscious of the slate. No matter, a few notable ones:

Florida State / Oklahoma State - currently 10-0 FSU with the first quarter nearly over.

LSU / Wisconsin - this should be an interesting one. I think it is the only SEC / Big Ten game scheduled this season.

Oregon / South Dakota - Prediction? Pain. No, seriously, the line has Oregon winning by an amount yet to be computed.

Usually I don't care to root for B1G teams, but this is the conferences most high profile non-con game of the year and this will go a long way towards the public perception of the league

inexcusable.  That's on the coaching staff.

Les sounded like he had thrown in the towel at the half interview with his first sentence after watching his offense.  Then he sort of caught himself and went rah rah.  I think he knows what a mess he has on offense.

Hawaii just ran a reverse-pass on 4th & short from UW's 9 yard-line, and didn't complete it. Then UW threw a bomb and scored a 91-yard TD. 14-10 UW now.

that their opponents shot themselves in the foot numerous times. Both easily could have lost. Neither looked like the #1 or #2 team in the country.

FSU went on the road and played a real team unlike most every other team not named A&M Bama Georgia and Wisconsin/LSU.  So better to reward someone who crushed nobody coastal carolina 54-14?

Dont think there should be any polls until week 6 but how many of these top 25 played a team with a heartbeat?  I wouldn't punish the ones that did and didn't look great in week 1 when every team has major kinks.  These SEC teams are already playing conference games while most teams will play 3 baby seals and 1 real team before playing a conf game in week 5.  Just apples and oranges at this point.  How would Bama and FSU have done vs App State or whoever Oregon is playing tonight etc.

I also agree that FSU and Bama deserve some credit for power conference opponents but I don't think either team looked nearly as impressive as I was expecting. Both defenses looked suspect and were fortunate not to give up more points. I think that the most impressive victory of the week was Tex A&M rolling @ S Car. Georgia over Clemson was close. I am not saying that these teams are better than Bama or FSU, just that they were more impressive in week 1.

Well, it's a neutral site game, and OSU is rebuilding and expected to finish about 4th or 5th in the Big 12 this year, but i do agree with your overall point, and the ACC is not exactly a powerhouse football league, so OSU just might be the stiffest competition FSU gets in the regular season this year.
