ESPN: Michigan among two leaders for Danny O'Brien

Submitted by BiSB on

Per ESPN:

"Michigan and Tennessee will definitely be in there for sure," the three-star defensive tackle said Wednesday between events at The Opening at Nike World Headquarters. . .

The hometown Wolverines have obvious appeal for the Flint (Mich.) L.M. Powers standout. There's proximity, a great relationship with Michigan's coaching staff and a memorable visit last month that was highlighted by a long chat with first-year Michigan coach Brady Hoke.

I swear ESPN must have more outlier rankings than Rivals and Scout combined.

Holy crap they have him as the 57th best DT, which is like 35-40 spots lower than anyone else.

rank recruits from the south higher.  It helps boasts  recruiting rankings for SEC schools which helps them because the have the big SEC contract.  Sounds paranoid I know but I swear its true.  Watch CFB live you have to swallow the SEC pill to get through it.

The three-star rating surprises me. Regardless, it would be awesome to have the guy in our class, but hope is not lost by any means if he goes to Tennessee (Pipkins, Shittu).

We need a big old hog to free up all those good looking linebacker recruits. Might not be the pass rusher Pipkins and Shittu are, but I like him.

The rumors are the coaches only want 1 DT, and many are saying they still will take Wormley and Washington if they want to commit. I just feel like it will end differently, with UM signing Wormley and missing out on Washington. This will open up a spot for both O'brien and Pipkens. Now while I really want Washington in this class, I feel that there is an even greater need to solidify our DT position for the future, especially given our current DE haul for next year.

O'brian is a must, and my biggest want for for this recruiting class.  Pipkens and Aziz are top flight but give me this kid first.  Here's why.

Instate:  Check...Flint, we've missed a bunch and it's time to lock up.  The boy is from the great state of MICHIGAN.  We really don't need to see local studs packing their bags.  Nuf' said.

DT:  Check...4 star,  6' 2'' 292...perfect size for burrowing NT, this kid is nasty with a array of lighting quick moves.  Low center of gravity, low pad level will result in nightmares for any center or guard.  He will be well over 300 lbs by his RS Freshman year.  We need 2 nose tackles this year...Pipkens and O'brian thank you very much.

Attitude:  Check...looks like he's front row at the Pantera concert 4 realz.  He just looks like he'd be a handful, ala Chris Hutchinson, J. Horn or Chris Zorich.  Not to mention the fucking mohawk and i'll take your lunch money glares. THIS is the kind of guy i want spilling Buckeye blood for the next 4 years.  3.2 GPA looks sharp.  Danny says he wants to coach after he plays.  I believe him.

UGLY:  Give me Danny, the Michigan Mauler, and be done with it!!!  For crying out loud this kid looks like he wants to ruin picnics.  We don't need a mascot we need Danny roaming the sidelines on Saturday.

All is see is All American....

Fuck ESPN.  This kid is a WARLORD.

My #1 for this year.

Yea,  I'm convinced.  The M O- line (used to) talk always about playing mean.  Like to see the M D-line play that way as well.  Figure they will seeing how President Coach Hoke can't seem to finish a sentence without referencing the "first punch".  I don't think Danny O'Brien needs to be convinced to bring an attitude.
