Ala Bill Murray in GroundHog Day, I am saying Denard is a god , not necessarily the God:

What does "I am not saying Denard is a god , not necessarily the God:" even mean?
edit: typo I missed

I edited my comment after you read it...Bill Murray in Groundhog day does not claim to be the God just a god...that's all I am claiming about Denard, for now

haha I got it. It was the end of a VERY long day!
(anybody, anybody?)

How I feel about Denard injury oh noes and 3 MAN RUSH FIRE GERG ANGAR threads:
October 7th, 2010 at 6:11 PM ^
Analyst on ESPNU just said that not enough people have been talking about the risk of Denard not being durable enough.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
I about did a spit take when I heard him say that. So many of these guys don't even listen to themselves speak.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
said the same thing on CFL today.
Did I mention I hate Robert Smith?
October 7th, 2010 at 6:43 PM ^
He always seems just a _little_ too pleased with himself. In that sense, he reminds me of Mark May.
October 7th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
They can have him; we got the better end of the deal.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:51 PM ^
It's been all downhill since "Disintegration", and that was like twenty years ago.
October 7th, 2010 at 7:21 PM ^
Eek. i thought you sed "desegregation." i have to get back to my history homework.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
I would hate Robert Smith more if he didn't go to my high school. He paid for our new weightroom when I was sophomore, so I am obligated to not hate him as much.
Unfortunately my high school alums also include Pepe Pearson, Thaddeus Gibson and Tony Fisher....although luckily Bob Davie was coaching ND and never used Fisher right.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
I saw that too and screamed at the television.
I think what he meant to say was "not enough people have been talking about his mental durability," because that was the only point he brought up that fewer than every analyst has mentioned.

Last year when Michigan State beat Michigan, the Spartans held Denard Robinson to negative-9 rushing yards and zero passing yards. Granted, Robinson wasn't Michigan's quarterback then, did not attempt a pass and carried the ball only three times. But if the Spartans pull that off again, you have to like their chances to win.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
Along those lines, Rodriguez might want to remember that the last defensive player to win the Heisman was Michigan's Charles Woodson. Yes, Rich, I'm suggesting you play Robinson on defense, too. Then your game plan on both sides of the ball can just be: "Whatever. Denard will handle it."
October 7th, 2010 at 10:35 PM ^
As the Heisman front-runner and the only reason ... Rich Rodriguez is still employed, Robinson will remain as the front-runner as long as he keeps beating Michigan's opponents without the help of anyone else on the team.
I get that Page 2 is a joke, but this isn't the first time things like the above come up. The OL is much improved, and the receivers are playing really well this year. If Tate is starting, we're probably 4-1 at this point. The ESPN3 guy (Colorado asshat) said that Michigan would be 0-5 without Denard. We know this is ridiculous, but do they really f'ing believe what they're saying?
October 8th, 2010 at 1:36 AM ^
the veiled shots at RR in this is the first thing I noticed. I have never seen so many people rooting for a guy to fail as with him.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:22 PM ^
I like the chances of pigs flying out of my butt.
Party on Wayne.

October 7th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
That is actually brilliant. Who knew someone at ESPN could be witty?
October 7th, 2010 at 6:44 PM ^
The author is the guy who started the Sportspickle site (kind of like the Onion for sports) and has written for the Onion as well. So he's an accomplished humor writer who also freelances for ESPN, not your typical ESPN hack.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
If Denard finishes 0/0 passing for 0 yards, and has 3 carries for -9 yards... then yes, I like State's chances.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:52 PM ^
These guys are so unfunny it makes me laugh, if that makes sense.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:29 PM ^
And in the OT-he's-not-our-coach-thank-God files:
Les Miles, LSU: Yes, 5-0 Les Miles is on the hot seat. And it's completely deserved after yet another clock management debacle last week against Tennessee. Miles tried to explain the end of the Tennessee game this way: "I understand the responsibility of the way we managed the back end of the game is mine. I can tell you that the issue was trying to use and have utility in an extra down. We used way too much time in substitution." Oh, Les. You're hopeless. You even took too long to say "I have no idea what I'm doing."
Good stuff. Thanks for posting it, qed!
October 7th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
But, Les is a Michigan Man! Unlike Rodriguez, he would UNDERSTAND THE OSU RIVALRY.
/sarcasm
October 7th, 2010 at 6:43 PM ^
...has gonna off the fucking rails with Denard lately. 2-3 articles per day, every day this week. As a huge M fan and alum, even I'M a little sick of reading about him already.
Kinda makes you wonder why they didn't bring gameday to Ann Arbor. I think they've got us lined up for next week if we win.
October 7th, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
Even at that rate, Denard has a long way to go before he reaches Tebow status
October 7th, 2010 at 6:46 PM ^
I am surpised that Trevor Matich didn't write this. He knows how to stop Denard and why he runs fast. He figured something out that 5 DC's have yet to.
October 7th, 2010 at 6:51 PM ^
Stopping Denard is easy. You just TACKLE him, and he can't gain any more yards.
I'm surprised no one has tried that yet. Michigan's first five opponents have been too focused on the "catch him" approach, which has been a tactical error IMHE.
October 7th, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
it is so simple; why hasn't anyone tried it yet?
</snark>
October 7th, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
The best analysis by matich on stopping denard was getting guys downfield, then he did one of his typical stares and awkward pauses.. lol He is such an idiot..
Who would of thought that if defenses get their guys downfield and tackle they could stop denard?
October 7th, 2010 at 7:01 PM ^
The best thing i've read is that msu needs to try to stop denard in the backfield in order to stop him..... The only thing i could think of was, no shit? Isn't that what every team tries to do to any qb or rb?
October 7th, 2010 at 7:30 PM ^
I'd like to see that play modified where DR throws laterally to Tate on the sideline. Then Tate throws to DR in the endzone.

October 7th, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
Hilarious. I was expecting this to be Tom Hanks and something about davinci but this was hilarious. The fact that it was from ESPN makes it even better.
October 7th, 2010 at 10:22 PM ^
amusing, and sometimes downright disrespectful that these talking heads have all the facts and fail to mention Nebraska had a kid in 1997 named Scott Frost who ran the triple option and if I recall was never injured. Did they say back then every other week that someone is gonna hurt him? While I do not remember his playing weight I bet it was no more than 210 if that much and not at all very big, nor the freakish athlete that of Denard. Is it a stretch to say that the Haters are gonna hate no matter what? Wasn't Troy Smith about 5"11 195 ? While he did not run as much Denard he did and took his share of hits. I do not remember him missing any time. So I think the theory that eventually he will get hurt should take a backseat. The play he initially got hurt on will teach him to pick his spots, and I think people should just give it a rest. I never wish for an opponent to get injured and anyone who does is a poor sport along without having any class.

Some funny stuff in there
"QB Bath Slippers: This is an entire offensive package in which Robinson can run any of the plays above. However, in this package he is wearing fuzzy bath slippers to raise the level of difficulty so football is a bit more fun and challenging for him."
