Looks like they just requested details per the FOIA

11 Wariors Coverage.

Dave Brandon has responded.  Calls exchanges with fans nonsense and that he doesn't read blogs.

Really good and comprehensive article. I wish they had provided more FOIA details or acknowledged what was already done but I guess that's part of journalism... Independent verification

If there's a better thread for this (as opposed to a new one), please move it.  I didn't want it to get burried or feel like it fit the other threads that were still standing.

11 warriors has put up a write up on it (Even complimented Brian and Ace).  i won't link it here, but doing a google search  of Dave Brandon should bring it up rather easily (as well as other media coverage)

For every one of your criticisms, there were hundreds or more of unvoiced doubts.  Good for you for being courageous.  And mea culpa for those that I had; yet even more proud to be part of an online community that is this remarkable.

But the Afternoon drive time guys on 97.1, The Fan had a segment on it. Gave some back story, mentioned FOIA, Michigan deleting his stuff every 30 days as part of the reason for the cost and MGoBlog actually doing real reporting (an issue they have with sports reporters they mention on a regular basis). Explained, admittedly badly, how they were researched and checked (they are not tech guys.) Read some examples, wondered what Brandon does during the day or more correctly what should he be doing instead of writing these. The one host says this is why he could never be an AD because he would write this kind of crap, but DB should be better than that and have a secretary to handle replies.

everything you do when you are selling a product. The marketing king is sending these emails over and over and he hasn't attempted to deny it. He needs to go tonight.

Question:  How many big embarrassments can one giant ego cause an athletic department in one year?  Answer, apparently, is still to be determined.

If there were FOIA infractions, ESPN seems better equipped ($, connections, personnel resources, name recognition) to get to the bottom of it. So that's good news.

It just boggles the mind that someone with Brandon's salary, with "Director" after their name, would be sending out idiotic emails that make the sender look bad.  Even low level managers working grunt jobs all over the world know not to do this.  How does anyone with the title of Director.. in this day and age.... not know?

At the very least, C Suite and Director level have people already on the payroll who can, and usually do, handle the bulk of all correspondence.  If Brandon didn't delegate this task it's starting to seem very believeable that he would micromanage in other ways.

Both the report and the silence that followed from Brandon's office Tuesday is yet another public relations disaster for a man who was pitched as a whiz in that field when he left his job as Dominos Pizza CEO to become Michigan's athletic director.

I would love to know what Brandon has to add really, if anything - it couldn't be anything which would put this in a context which would diffuse the bigger issues. I can't imagine he'd ever say anything like, "So, I am a bit of a jerk...", but the response to E-mailgate would be an intriguing one if it ever came.

Read the blogs. He would be more snarky than he already is. I have a friend who's wife worked at Vlassis for him. It is common with him to be an ass.

Dave Brandon:

"I'm here to get an award tonight, so I appreciate you showing up, but that's not why I'm here," added Brandon, who alongside a handful of staff members represented the U-M athletic department as recipients of an award recognizing the department for its key roles in tourism and its impact on Ann Arbor's economy.

No, dickhead, you are there to represent the University of Michigan in your (not for long) capacity as Athletic Director.  But please, by all means, keep making it all about you.

If there ever was clear evidence of the fundamental underlying problem, this quote highlights it.
