Probably about a half hour ago. Mag 4.0 Near Galesburg, MI
That's what she said.
I felt it for about 5-10 seconds. Mid Michigan area.
Elsie, MI 15 min ago
You guessed it, even more exciting than trash day!
I know of what I what I speak. I grew up in the teeming metropolis of Ovid. Actually, that's a lie, I grew up in the Colony, where nothing has happened, ever. But I identify more with Ovid than Elsie since I went to North and Leonard.
Wow -- I felt it in Chicago -- there was construction going on at the buildigng across the street and I assumed it was that at first.
Between this and Nepal, we better get Harbaugh on the phone and tell him to hold the earth's plates a little more steady
that it was a 4.0
The New Madrid area is special. Earthquakes in Michigan are rare as hell. I'm jealous of all you who felt it -- and I'm sure I speak for all transplanted Michiganders there!
Living in a house built in the 20s two blocks from the train tracks, I would never notice an earthquake. I've become immune to the shakes.
Furniture and shelved items vibrated for about 5-10 seconds here in Romulus per my wife. I was outside, but you could definitely feel the vibration and the patio furniture started to rattle a bit as well. Per the USGS, that was centered south of Galesburg, which explains why the folks on the western side of the state felt it the most.
Anyone else remember the one we had in 1986 or 1987, somewhere in that timeframe? That one was closer to Detroit, I think.
Yup, I remember that one. I was on a house tour and walked into the living room and thought the floor was a little shaky.
This was much bigger. I'm heading to Galesburg to loot.
Never-before seen photo from LSA's back yard:
I remember feeling the '87 quake. The epicenter of that 5.0 happened in southern IL near Lawrenceville on 6/10/87. The old tiger stadium shook from that quake. I also felt the 5.0 Magnitude earthquake in Cleveland OH that much of southern MI felt on 1/1/86. I remember being excited about the Fiesta Bowl when Michigan was about to play NE later that day.
I felt it here in Lansing. I thought it was some sparties throwing couches in the streets to celebrate graduation.
Felt the room rocking for a minute too... thought I was crazy. Guess not!
Everyone felt it in EL. God's way of telling us to fuck off. But I felt nothing, so Im good.
