"American Gladiators" was admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine growing up. At least here in the Detroit area, it would rerun right after the second airing of that weeks episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", so that's usually when I would catch it.  That Bob McElwee could do that and still referee NFL games was a tribute to his willingness to occasionally goof on a call on television.

I'm not belittling you. I'm pointing out that jokes involving inhumane things are rampant, especially if you watch any comics who are even slightly off-color, such as Louis CK, Daniel Tosh, Dave Attell, Bill Burr, or even late-night talk-show hosts. I wonder why you hold me to a higher standard than is generally expected of just about any non-kids show host.

And thank you. I like all those comedians, and if you find my comment uptight, so be it. I think Magnus is good at football analysis, and enjoy those posts. But just not this attempt at comedy. I'm in the minority--yet he still needs to act a bit prickish with the response. Par.

Yep, Magnus is a dick and youre a prude. It's one thing to think a joke is not all that funny but you implied it was low class/ bad taste which is every bit as dickish as Magnus can be. Thinking a jared from subway or jerry sandusky joke is funny does not mean we think pediphilia is funny..they are just jokes get over yourself. If you didn't laugh than don't upvote it an move on but you posted some bullshit trying to make a point.

The main difference is those are professional comedians telling jokes at places that people paid money to come hear. You're a football coach posting on a football message board and you're not particularly funny. That's why you're held to your own implied imaginary standard. Maybe adults who coach and are around young people shouldn't make jokes about child rape. Save the comedy for the professionals.

Wow. I guess you haven't been around football coaches much, because a joke about Jared Fogle is pretty tame.

I'm done with this thread of conversation, but I'll be interested to see the reactions when other threads inevitably pop up with jokes about Sandusky, OJ Simpson, Ray Rice, etc.
