Dorian Thompson-Robinson Cuts His List Down To UCLA And Michigan
We kind of already knew this but its good news for it to be made official none the less
He will make his committment April 23rd at 7pm PST

I don't think the Harris situation is comparable and I don't think Harris had a particularly different situation at Bama or Michigan in that regard. Both rotate backs and will continue to do so.
QBs don't rotate. They want to be the man and they need to want to be the man to succeed at this level. I guarantee you Wilton Speight isn't going through this week relieved that the pressure is lifting now that Brandon Peters has shown the ability to carry some of the load.
DTR might be ok waiting for a year or two, but he wants to start, and any program that recruits QBs at that level wants guys that want to start. Further, actual on-field experience is something that just can't be simulated in the development of a QB, so more of it would generally be considered a good thing.

Based on that post, it sounds like UCLA. Because everyone knows there are no UCLA football fans to disappoint.

Honestly I must claim the same. I've known plenty of hot women and plenty not so hot that wore UCLA gear because of the colors. I've yet to meet a man that is a fan of UCLA or UCLA football for that matter. That said, I do live in bum fuck Egypt. That also being said, come on down to the good guys DTR. Only women like your team and they aren't all hot.

After this season, UCLA won't have a head coach to disappoint either.
April 16th, 2017 at 10:33 PM ^
but at least they have more fans than staee, at least 3 - 9 thousand!

Always good to have the last visit and Wiltfong's Cystal Ball.
April 16th, 2017 at 10:20 PM ^
The analyst with the first Crystal Ball to a certain school will usually not change until absolutely certain the prospect is going somewhere else because of the potential points for the original pick are much greater than the points gained with switching the pick. I don't know if his crystal ball actually means he thinks he is going to Michigan at this moment because it is about a year old. I would put more stock in it if it were a recent report.

That doesn't really dispute the point...it could very well mean there's nothing concrete either way so I'm going to leave it until I'm certain he's going to UCLA (which is pretty much the point that was being made).
If anything I'd just take it as Michigan is still in it and the visit didn't hurt (i.e. Nico Collins and Georgia). We'll find out soon enough.

Ill catch flak for this but I dont trust Wiltfrongs crystal balls as much as I do guys like Lorenz
Ive gone through all of his predicitions in the past and one thing he does constantly is change his balls hours before the recruit commits. He even has a few preidictions where the site nullified his ball because he literally put it in AFTER the recruit officially committed.
He cares too much about the points. Flips em at the last second way too much
April 17th, 2017 at 12:44 AM ^
I dont think Wiltfong, Lorenz, Bartow play those point games. They are more interested in an actual forecast. The points are for the suckers who know jack shit and cb 2000 kids per season.

That's a line our coaching staff uses. They tell kids to look beyond the next 4 years and make a decision that will beneit them for the next 40 years.
If DTR means what he says, then I feel good about Michigan's chances.
April 16th, 2017 at 10:27 PM ^
Oh man thats huge. He's giving subtle props to Michigan right there and he knows it. Damn UCLA sucks though. Troy Aikman was the last good player they had that actually panned out. Oh and Skip Hicks was cool too. Other than that, they might as well be suckville #2.
April 17th, 2017 at 11:57 AM ^
But UCLA is one of the few s D1 schools that can also claim a 40 year decision on par with Michigan.
April 17th, 2017 at 10:20 AM ^
The thing is Jedd Fisch may not even be there next year if their is a coaching change. If we were competing against usc it might make sense. Is this kid afraid of competition. He may have guys ahead of him at Michigan, but you also have to worry about the guy in the class behind you if you base your decision on the rostor. I think he is good enough to play anywhere and so should he. If you go with what ifs, how about Rosen staying another year and ucla getting someone next year like Daniels. I highly doubt it, but basing your decision on football career your only guarantee is Jim Harbaugh is the best Qb coach in college football. With Peters and McCaffery waiting in the wings I really am not worried about Qb recruiting at this time. I am a defensive guy and would still be whining if we didn't get Aubrey Solomon last year but we did. My guy this year was the "spider" and we got him so am feeling good. That being said, DTR is a great athlete and watched him play some so I think we take him also.LOL.

I think most reports from the recruiting sites coming into the visit was that a decision was going to come soon after the Michigan visit as he would have completed visits to his finalists after Michigan.

April 16th, 2017 at 10:28 PM ^
I think it's good news that he's deciding now but it could also be a thing where he was waiting to go to Michigan to confirm that UCLA was the place for him.
April 16th, 2017 at 10:32 PM ^
what a surprise.
April 16th, 2017 at 11:49 PM ^
I think Jourdon Lewis said something like "these recruits don't realize once they commit they are just another guy"... which is true. You are forgotten by the losing fan base quickly and then the fans of the team that did win will forget about you til you start seeing the field.
April 17th, 2017 at 11:24 AM ^
Yeah, it's kind of striking how fast this happens.
You are the savior up until the moment you sign your LOI. Once you're committed, though, you're just another "recruiting win" until you start producing on the field.
It makes sense, though. As a fan you know that your team's chances depend on getting a recruit to buy into your favored school, so you will do anything you can to encourage them to pick your school. Just very different from pro sports.
April 16th, 2017 at 11:53 PM ^
They'll always have Aikman.
And somewhere Cade McNown is sobbing.
April 17th, 2017 at 12:03 AM ^
Sure Peters and Mccaffery are ahead of him but UCLA doesn't develop qbs and they might not even have Mora on signing day because he's been fired.
April 17th, 2017 at 12:27 AM ^
If I were a top QB coming into college, there is no way I wouldn't at least consider Harbaugh to coach me. Dude is a QB whisperer.
April 17th, 2017 at 12:40 AM ^
Yeah, Michigan was not close to hme for me and it was not a "college resort" like UCLA, but it had the best program for me that would further my career goals . . . so I went there.
DTR should be looking at it the same way. Playing for and being developed by Harbaugh versus Mora (if he even survives) is a no brainer.
If you like Westwood and the Beverly Hills area, go be a succesful pro in the NFL. Then you can go there whenever you want and will have some money to spend when you get there.
but I also wouldn't blame him a bit if he looked at the depth chart and chose somewhere else. Having Peters & McCaffrey in the two classes in front of him is tough
Good way to think about it. UCLA could be in dire straits with Mora and he's on a short leash this year, but DTR could also look at the situation and say that one Rosen leaves, that job is his. It probably is.
If he comes here, he is working with the greatest QB coach on the planet, but he will be competing against two very talented QBs in the classes right ahead of him. So he risks holding a clipboard for a long time.
Best of luck to him with whatever he chooses.
I think he likes Michigan, but the starting UCLA QB job looks wide open in 2018. Pretty safe assumption that Josh Rosen will enter the NFL Draft in 2018, and the depth chart behind him is pretty barren. None of those guys were good enough to get on the field last year when Rosen was hurt.
One thing I would be worried about if I were him is the UCLA OL has gotten Rosen killed the last 2 years.
If Rosen plays next year the way he played this past year, he's not going anywhere. While I'm sure some of this is on their former OC, Rosen still looked awful last year. There were even points where he was benched.
So much for being The Rosen One.
April 17th, 2017 at 10:13 AM ^
Even if Rosen doesn't go pro, that leaves DTR in line after one year of riding the bench. That's not bad, unless there's some good prospect on the UCLA bench we're not thinking of right now.
And redshirt freshmen QBs have some chance for success, as we've seen elsewhere.
April 17th, 2017 at 10:57 AM ^
Hate to 'well actually' anyone on a Monday morning, but Rosen was most definitely not benched at any point last year, unless getting knocked out by injury qualifies as being benched.
More subjectively, I would say that Rosen looked fine last year. His o-line was terrible.
April 17th, 2017 at 11:14 AM ^
If having to compete against only sucky QBs is his main consideration, he should go to Alabama.
April 17th, 2017 at 10:10 AM ^
UCLA has shown it will start a Freshman QB. Michigan hasn't under Harbguah. It's not a knock on Michigan or Harbaugh but just a plain fact that might prove to be the deciding factor for the young QB.
