Derrick Walton Jr. Named B1G Tournament Most Outstanding Player
He's in full on beast mode right now
Captain America was good, but he has nothing on Captain Michigan.

Walton was the 1st Michigan player with:
1,000+ pts, 500+ rebs, 400+ ast.
We have had some great players walk through our doors. Walton Jr., is now for sure, one of the great ones. Let's go shock the world!
They just did a recount and Nate Mason was named tourney MVP followed by Melo Trimble. Walton came in 3rd....
Zak Irvin with the assist. His D, his ability to get to the rim, and the minutes he logged were huge. The rommies were amazing.
Wilson for the assist. But Irvin too. This whole team has improved but those 3 carried the bulk during the BTT.
He put this team on his back halfway through the season...wow, amazing four dayst
Great way to get through the additional trials and tribulations of the last few days by this team, with Walton out front.
Go Blue!
Agreed - and if M-Den doesn't have those practice jerseys on sale this week, they're missing a great opportunity.
DW second team all big ten
FIRST team all american
I think he would take the championship MVP over the first team all-Big Ten every time. Congrats, young man.
Completely agree with the above thought - Championship MVP + B1G Champs > 1st Team all Conference. There really was no other choice that could have been made after the way DW took over the last few games, especially against Minnesota.
Buzzsaw. What a run.
Will I trade a first team Big Ten PG designation for this?
Yes. Absolutely yes.
after initially naming La La Land the B1G Tournament MVP, which made no sense.
These guys are no longer "Just Shooters" -- interior ball movement the last three games has been magnificent!
leadership, talent, heart, and love for the game and his teammates. Been a joy to watch him this year. Most impressed. Go Blue !
Do they do an all tourney team?
They do - Irvin and three Wisconsin guys round out the top 5 - link
All-Tournament Team
Zak Irvin, Michigan
Derrick Walton, Jr., Michigan
Ethan Happ, Wisconsin
Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin
Bronson Koenig, Wisconsin
Sort of makes sense that it's players from teams which played in the final - most others would have played only a game or two.
I think you can certainly make a case for DJ Wilson being on the list - otherwise don't see too much off about the list.

Yeah Wison over Koenig for sure.
how valuable he was, how passionate and gritty he was all tournament long. One of the epic acts of leadership in the history of Michigan Athletics.
It's funny, we were so obviously lacking an aneurysm of leadership moment and you were just WAITING for someone to take it by the reins. Instead of one moment, we got a totally different kind of epic act of leadership - Walton from pillar to post.
And Zak totally went Batman and Robin with him. Robin SHOWED UP and SHOWED OUT in this tournament.
