Harbaugh said in the press conference that it is an internal matter...

I'm guessing this is not so good. Weren't there rumors that he was in the dog house in spring, then worked his way out? Maybe a return to the dog house? Kind of feel bad for him; on his second program and three head coaches in three years. Lesson? Never trust Lane Kiffin.

It is our business because were fans of the team and that player is part of the team. We spend hundreds of dollars going to games each year. Not a good comment from Harbaugh

In reality it isn't our business. No one is forcing you to pay hundreds of dollars. If the player has a death or illness in his family should it be your business if the player doesn't want it to be? People have real private lives that just because you paid some money to watch them play doesn't give you the right to know everything.

If you think spending hundreds of dollars on games gives you the right to know about internal disciplinary matters, you're going to have a tough time with sports. The most succesful American pro sports franchise of the last 15 years, the Patriots, say less than nothing and many, many teams in college and pro emulate them.

They are under no obligation to tell us anything unless, as a public university, they need to follow the law to release something (e.g., for FOIA). It's literally not our business, as much as we might be interested.

Our business is evaluating the product on the field (e.g., do I think this game is worth my time and money?) and how the players and coaches comport themselves off it (e.g., do I agree with how the team disciplines law-breakers?). If someone has a bad attitude or poor grades or has fumbling problems or something else, we have to realize we're on the outside of the team.

You do not have ownership or a right for any of that.

Don't fucking go to games or donate if you don't want to...that's your choice.

By doing so, you get to watch a fucking football game, not know personal information.

Complete bullshit on your part...that was gross that people actually think this way. That's what's wrong with sports. You think you deserve more than a fucking ticket to watch a game. You don't.

Whaaa? Being a fan does not mean you have unlimited access to the team or the behind the scenes. If a kid has a family matter to attend to, a kid is flunking out of school, a kid as a personal drug abuse problem or something other that's private that keeps him from playing -- that is NONE of your business. All that is your business as a fan is that the kid is not on the depth chart and won't be able to play for Rutgers. Just because you want the TMZ information doesn't mean you should actually get it.

"OK, then." is a little bit of unnecessary butthurt on her part.  Sorry, but if it's an internal matter relating to a student-athlete, it really IS none of her business.

I suggest she find a vial of this, and call me in the morning.  Better yet, DON'T call.  What happens with your anus is none of MY business.

But the media doesn't like not being pampered to, so they tend to throw hissy fits about this stuff. If a coach starts losing, then fans will as well. Comes with the territory. Personally, I have absolutely zero issue with what Harbaugh said.

While I agree, it's not in good form to say that.  I think how you say it makes a difference too.  For example I always get frustrated when Saban starts yelling at reporters who talk about the next NC, etc.  He doesn't want expectations and allowing "outsiders" to get into his players heads and make them lose focus on the present and lose motivation because this year's team is not last years, etc.  I get that.  I also get that some matters should remain internal and that a coach has the right to make that decision.  However, I don't get their lack of understanding that fans and reporters want to know.  If a highly regarded transfer from a high profile school like USC, who is also a kid that was highly sought after by UM in recruiting, is now in danger of not being on the team and/or playing, that is something that fans want to know about, especially considering our questionable running back situation and the fact that our best RB (Johnson) is always injured.  Regardless of whether it's in the best interests of the coach or player, fans want to know and reports have the right to ask.  So, it's OK for a coach not to answer, but they should do so respectfully and understand that we all want to know.  Only if reporters keep asking the same question different ways over and over (which we all know they do), should they get frustrated and say something like "it's none of your business" IMO, but otherwise that kinda sounds ungrateful for the all the interest in the team.

i trust harbaugh alot more than a fan or writer on what is the right way to release information. stop with all the "he owes us because we are fans". you are a fan, stay a fan. let the people that are qualified run the program.

What are you no-ing? My only expectation in the post was that coaches respectfully say no to requests while understanding fans desire to know (assuming the reporter asks in an appropriate way). So, do I assume your no means its OK for coaches to be rude? I did not say fans have the right to know. I did say fans have the right to want to know and reporters the right to ask.

If what I read on Twitter is correct (shrug), then yes.  He literally said that.  Paraphrasing:

They asked "Why is Ty Isaac off the depth chart?"

Harbaugh:  "It's an internal matter"

Reporter:  "How long until he returns?"

Harbaugh:  "I'll keep you posted, or to put it another way, It's none of your business"

...or something like that
