So maybe Jefferson is a silent?

Steve Lorenz had said that he was asked to wait to announce the commitment until Burnett got back to Cali, but Gorney must have leaked it early. He probably committed to the coaches but didn't want it public.

signing day, Harbaugh would be a fool to not have non committable offers out there. I am hoping this means that Jefferson is the reason.

I think Harbaugh has a pretty good idea what is happening on signing day. I hope it's going to be a fun day but Michian will be the school everyone is talking about. There is a lot up in the air.

This is a colossal cluster-fuck of extremely poor communications on the part of several parties.

I hope this isn't a case of a "non-commitable offer"— I don't believe offers should be extended if they're not 100% redeemable, so to speak. If that's not the case here, then either UM offered and Burnett accepted but things got screwed up when it became public prematurely, or no offer was extended but somehow Burnett thought there was.

offer. Call it a conditional offer, if you like. The staff can let recruits know where they stand. It doesn't need to be as black and white as you have an offer or you don't. It's possible to let the players know there is a pecking order rather than it's always first come, first served.

It's possible Burnett didn't want this news out until he got home because he was waiting for a response from the staff. It's possible there was a miscommunication with the staff or with Gorney. Hard for us to tell from here.

I wish there was a subsection for recruiting. It's even wearing me down. I don't care about recruit Twitter, etc. can't wait for this to be over. Don't care about the 5 stars or scrub recruits, but it's all over this website.

I think he means the message board being something like the old Proboards, where you could divide it into sections. If someone didn't want to see any recruiting threads, they just didn't click on that section. TBH I actually prefer that setup to the current one here.

I was being a bit rude to him for no real reason other than I get annoyed with the people who complain about message board posts. If you are that tired of reading stuff on recruiting don't click on the thread, I don't believe they are that obtrusive. I also think there are plenty of non-recruiting threads right now that it is easy to avoid it on the board if you want.

Oh I personally read every recruiting thread. I just like having seperate sections for things like OT posts, especially since I've been having trouble getting to page 2 and higher on the board. I also always liked the ability to see what threads I've posted in and if there's new posta in those threads from my control panel, instead of trying to go back through old threads.

did not  have the time to recruit this cycle, so when you are trying to flip kids late these are the type of things that happen. I'll be happy if we can pick up a couple more on NSD.

Pretty much everybody was below a 4 star and best had their best offers from Minnesota or Purdue in 2011, but let's not let that get in the way of a mgoblog meltdown. we're still waiting for most of our recruits to announce on wednesday. Explain to me why it is such a big deal that we're missing someone from Washington State.

This and the above comment are extremely unfair. Recruiting is the one thing Hoke did right. He scored with high four star recruits and solid four stars almost across the board and recruited exceptionally well. We pulled multiple kids with Alabama and OSU offers and other top power 5 schools, but he wasn't able to coach them up. If Harbaugh recruits as well as Hoke and coaches as well as Harbaugh has in the past, I'll be ecstatic.
