Dennis Pitta does Michigan a solid with Chris Clark

Submitted by Bo Schemheckler on

Dennis Pitta, TE for the Baltimore Ravens tweeted this at Chris Clark earlier today

You can't go wrong playing in a TE friendly, pro-style offense with a stud like Jay as your TE coach. Good luck with everything

This is his first tweet since July, I'm not sure if Jay asked him to do this or if he did it himself but i'm liking it.

something like 11 of the last 12 crystal balls picks have been to UCLA and its hard to believe that much activity is pure speculation.  Optimistic side could be that a likely Wheatley plead drove Clark away.... if you're inclined to be optimistic

Meh, UCLA has had some recent success, is in CA, has a nice campus, and Mora is a good recruiter.  That said, Jim Mora and "stability" seem unlikely to coexist for much longer, so I expect him to be moving on soon enough and a couple of these recruits may be stuck wondering what happened.

I know this is different but why should he be tweeting a recruit? He's basically a fan and we say fans shouldn't tweet recruits. Plus if Jay did put him up to it then isn't he acting as agent of the coaching staff and wouldn't that be a no-no? I'm asking because this just seems odd especially since Jay didn't coach TE in Bmore.

about where he wants to go. At this point I don't anyone can say for certain where he goes. Clark clearly likes both UCLA and Michigan. Can't say I blame. Both are outstanding schools with a lot to offer. He's going to be just fine at either school.Plus, these are the two best uniforms in all of college football.

how big of an effect this could have on his decision. Yea, for rational thinking adults, its mostly just Pitta helping out an old pal in Jay Harbaugh, but to an 18 year old kid with a massive ego, its huge. And I say massive ego because Chris Clark is an 18 year old male. Comes with the territory. Not saying it will cause him to commit to UM, but I guarantee you its going to keep UM on the front of his mind the rest of the day.

I remember being torn between 2 schools when I was a high school senior. Ultimately, I opted for Michigan, and it was one of the best decisions I've made in my lifetime. I recall the pressure to decide - but it's nothing like these recruits have to face, with adults wooing and trying to convince them, friends and strangers inquiring about their intentions, etc. I can see how it can be overwhelming

I really hope that these kids enjoy it, though, for the most part. With the exception of those who ultimately excel in pro football and get wooed as a free agent, this type  of situation willl likely not recur.

because why in the world would Dennis Pitta know who Chris Clark is or care about a kid from CT choosing between Michigan and UCLA? Wouldnt surprise me if Jay made a call to a friend since Pitta isn't a Michigan booster

Don't mean to be the negative nancy here but I do not see Chris Clark coming to UM. I think the Mora snake oil and the locale won him over....not who will develop him best.
