[Denard officially runs 4.43 40 at NFL combine]
OP Edit: After all is said and done, Denard officially ran a 4.43. Shoelaces still officially tied. Done.
Initial hand time: First 40 for Denard: 4.34. Shoelaces tied, according to Michael Irvin.
Mod edit: Changed the title. If we're going to have two threads, this one should be reporting actual news. JGB.

Goodwin at 4.27 and Austin at 4.34. This makes Goodwin the fastest ever official?

ran the fastest ever, at 4.25

How is this even possible? They showed the two runs synced up and they were absolutely neck and neck.
I really think the combine official times are shaky as hell. This has happened before.

He also just caught every pass on his first run through the gauntlet drill.

Not sure where they get the original times, but 4.43 will be his official time.

Unofficial times are usually hand-timed, probably someone sitting at one of those tables...

Seems as if he is showing GMs what they had to see. Excited to see his pro day in a more comfortable setting.

There's a lot for scouts and GMs to like about Denard right now.

This group of receivers has had a lot of drops. Denard has done better than most
February 24th, 2013 at 12:49 PM ^
Denard has caught everything so far. Nice catch on the low thrown ball just now.

his senior year. This confirms it. Probably the added weight.

Except that he never ran in the NFL Combine before now. His earlier reported times were not necessarily as accurately recorded.

Denard's 10-yard split is better than any of the other top 10 aside from maybe Austin.

or better, so i wasn't too far off. does he have a chance to run one more, maybe get it all going at the right time and knock a 1/10th of a second off?

pick, but despite my obvious bias toward him as a great michigan man, i am pessimistic about his draft chances.
February 24th, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
The thread title says he ran 4.43. The OP says 4.34. Which is it?
February 24th, 2013 at 1:54 PM ^
ran a 4.34 and a 4.45, which I'm pretty sure is just a few people with stopwatches trying to time the runners. The NFL released their official time of 4.43, which is done by laser and will be the time used by the NFL.

Change your title-It says 4.43 instead of 4.34.
February 24th, 2013 at 1:59 PM ^
Denard's official time was 4.43, which is noted in the edited title.

Imagine if the Pats drafted him!!!!

If you get a chance, you should probably edit the body of the op as well, since having two times listed can be a little confusing.

The biggest question for NFL scouts is getting off the line, getting into and out of routes and then being a reliable receiver. Particularly with the type of throws to maximize Denard's speed.
