Easy debate in my opinion. Of course it was. Commence debate.

Best as in thrilling - then no (see ND games - you can pick the year). if you mean best played game against a quality opponent then absolutely - of course there was that game against Delware State /s

I mean, I guess it depends on how you define 'best'.  '08 Wisconsin was a win that seemed very unlikely against a quality opponent when we were obviously a very bad team.  So, in terms of odds stacked against us, I think '08 is a better win.   But I'll  definitely agree that this win was one that put us back on the map.  There is no doubt that this team and coaching staff have finally gelled. (sp?)  Borges knows how to best use Denard while still executing an offense that he's comfortable with.  Mattison has this defense playing like he's been coaching them for the last four years.  Confidence it back in the locker room, on the field, and in the stands.

That win seemed big at the time since Wisconsin was ranked so high. Then Wisconsin ended up finishing the season 7-6, 3-5 in the Big10, and one of their wins was in OT against Cal Poly. Today's win against Nebraska was much bigger. The competition was better and it was a thoroughly dominating performance.

Agreed.  Today's win was a more impressive win over a better team.  But, this win was also one I was confident in us getting and in all reality, it really was never in doubt.  I never felt like Nebraska was able to get any momentum.  The '08 Wisconsin game was a win that we had no business getting.  We were down by 19 or something at halftime. We had Steven Threet at QB.  He pulled it down and ran for, like, 65 yards or something at one point.  I remember thinking, 'This is like watching John Navarre run the Spread 'n Shred?!'.  It was completely ridiculous that we pulled that game out.  '08 was the best WTF?! win in recent history today was the best Yessir we're for real win, though.

A win next week would obviously trump this victory considering we have not won against those jerks since 2003.

This was the highest quality win since ND in 2006. Our offense was unexpectedly awesome in the 2007 Florida game, but we still won the game by less than a touchdown. This game, we put together a complete game; offense, defense, and special teams all contributed. I wasn't following football in 2006 but it seems obvious to me that a 47-21 win against a top-5 team would be better than this win against Nebraska.

"2008 Capital One bowl" can't be in the running because that team and those coaches lost to Appalachian St., which will forever be the worst loss a major college program has had.

Not to take away what any Michigan team has done (God knows I love these players more than I love my famils/girlfriend/etc) but this team is performing beyond or equal to the wildest expectations anyone had. This win was huge. IME, Nebraska was our most dangerous game this season, after OSU, and we fucking handled them.

2008 Capital One Bowl was first of all part of the Lloyd erra.

But more importantly, we handled the defending national champions, and moreover, we did so against the spread-iest of the spread teams in all the CFB land. Given Michigan's history of being tormented by dual-threat QBs and spread options, outscoring Tebow's Gators in what was basically a home game for them was incredibly sweet.

Moreover, watching Lloyd toss the entire DeBord playbook in the trash and run shotgun-spread for 4 quarters and shellack Florida's secondary into Bolivian was a thing of pure beauty.

2nd best win I've seen at U of M since being a student in 2006, excepting our '06 murder of #2 Notre Dame with Heisman frontrunner Brady Quinn.

Still remember the Michigan Daily headline on Monday...

"HEISMAN-HANDLED!"

While it was on the last second play of Henne to Manningham so it wasn't a dominating win like yesterday, PSU finished 11-1, beating Florida State in the Orange Bowl in 3OT.

Actually, the win against PSU in 2007 was pretty good to.  They finished 9-4 that season and we did it with Mallett at QB.

This was a great win, but there have been a couple of "best" wins between Carr and this game, just that they were false-positives about better things to come.  If UM beats OSU next week, then yes, this is a monster game and a sign the team is back.  If not, then it is still a big win but it won't necessarily be the momentum-changer most want it to be.  I mean, this is a Nebraska team that was worked over pretty badly by NW, Wiscy, and struggled to beat teams like Washington and OSU.  Next week, though, 10 wins = momentum shift.

then I would agree but if you are talking great games I would put this game with our recent victories against Notre Lame. I probably feel this way because we don't have the longstanding rivalry against Nebraska and it's obvious they were overrated IMO. Great victory nonetheless and the team dominated them for sure ... now beat Ohio!

Gonna agree with gorgeous Borges and say in terms of overall domination, best win since we destroyed ND in '06. I was at the game and was simply amazed at how the defense in particular was playing lights out. I usually get worried when Michigan plays a mobile quarterback but by the second quarter I was hoping Martinez would run just so I could watch Martin play with him like a chew toy. All around great game

that actually means something since....

Notre Dame 2006. That game set off the whole idea of a national championship run that year as it was a thorough drubbing of what would end up a Top-15 team or so.

MSU 2007 was a great finish. Wisconsin 08'. Any of the Notre Dame games over the last three years. Illinois last year. Florida in the Capitol One bowl felt fantastic, but everyone seems to think that that was a Florida national championship team when it wasn't and given our expectations of that season it was hard to be too excited other than to see Lloyd to go out the right way.

But for sheer domination over a good, ranked opponent...this was the best since Notre Dame in 2006

Gibbons from 40+ sealed it for me.

it was a great win....but...

all three ND victories were great wins.

beating wisco was a great win when we had that comeback.

but, yeah, this was up there...hard to slice it that thin

Or has Borges known all along that we can run from the shotgun, but that we need a lot of work under center.  He played a lot of under center thus far not to show his hand and hopefully get game experience for our guys, now is breaking out what we know is our strength for our big games at the end of the year.

1. '11 win over Nebraska (welcome to the B1G, Huskers)

2. '11 win over ND (under the lights)

3. '11 win over Illinois (defense is BACK!)

4. '10 win over ND (Denard being Denard)

5. '11 win over Minnesota (total domination)

That is my rankings...in order. However, all of these will take a backseat at about 3:45 next Saturday.
