DeAnthony Arnett to MSU
Per Allen Trieu
Arnett made his choice after visiting East Lansing today and meeting with Mark Dantonio

Fine DeAnthony, be that way... but honestly best of luck to him regardless.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
Michigan doesn't have a scholarship until next semester and told Arnett that he was more than welcome to join the team, but would have to walkon until a scholarship opened up. He apparently did not like that idea. Best of luck to him when they are playing anyone but us.

Nick Saban would've just sent Hagerup for medical review to clear up a scholarship.... EsssssEEEEEEESEEEEEEE FOOTBALLIN'

to "commence meltdown" with an avatar such as yours. It has the opposite affect.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
Well that happened quickly. Certainly would have loved to see him here, but we have a pretty good thing going moving forward.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
Best of luck to him and his father, Go Blue
January 4th, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
glad he's getting to play where he wants.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:48 PM ^
must have had bad grades. only reason he would pick sparty.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:52 PM ^
Michigan's academic standards for athletes are the NCAA minimum, the same as Michigan State's.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:54 PM ^
giving him a legitimate response - his profile was created today. A poor trolling attempt by Sparty, but either way I hope DeAnthony and his father well.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:59 PM ^
Yes, Michigan's are the same as MSUs which is the same as Stanford and NW and ND and every other single school in the NCAA. But each individual school has their own damn admissions board that has to admit the student as well. I really hate it when spartans try and argue that standards are the same at State as they are at UM. They aren't because each school has their own admission board that can do anything they want and require different standards regardless of the NCAA minimum standards.
BTW, this has nothing to do with the thread or it's subject. I just saw the opportunity to rant.

Denards Third Hiesman, you are pathetic. You are a state fan trolling a michigan blog. Get a life.

January 4th, 2012 at 10:18 PM ^
Are you really this fucking stupid or do you just play a moron on Michigan message boards?
January 4th, 2012 at 7:48 PM ^
He is closer to his family in a time of need, and I do wish him well and hopefully his father's condition improves.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:48 PM ^
Rumor has it that we weren't able to offer him a scholarship until next Fall, but he really wants to enroll right now. He couldn't justify paying a semester's tuition here when other schools had an available schollie.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:50 PM ^
that must be why he picked sparty. makes sense.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
Per his letter of intent, I believe he has to spend a whole year at Tenn. I believe he said he is taking online classes through Tenn. Whatever the reason, I don't think this is it.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
The problem is that we couldn't guarantee him a scholarship would be available in the fall.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:49 PM ^
I'm still glad he escaped the clutches of Emperor Dooley

January 4th, 2012 at 7:52 PM ^
Lookin forward to face you!
January 4th, 2012 at 7:53 PM ^
That said, I hope he sucks at football for the remainder of his career. Nothing personal, but yeah.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:54 PM ^
This shouldn't come as a surprise. He already had a relationship with Dantonio and his staff, whereas he barely knew Hoke or anyone at Michigan.
Nonetheless, I'm glad he got his release from Dooley. Best of luck to him.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
Glad it worked out. Told ya Dantonio would take him
January 4th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
At least he got out of Tenn. I still don't understand why we couldn't free up a scholly, but so be it. Hope our DBs are up to the task of state's talented group of WRs. I think Brian mentioned this in his post sugar bowl wrap-up, but we need some game-breakers at WR to make this offense Borges wants to do work. I was kind of hoping Arnett could have filled that role for us.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
wellllllll,,, thats to bad. I had high hopes for him in maize and blue
January 4th, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
Can't be too mad at him for the situation on why he transferred. Best of luck to him except when he plays Michigan
January 4th, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
So what about that whole "Dantonio thinks Arnett is a bad seed" thing someone was posting about the other day?
January 4th, 2012 at 8:06 PM ^
Apparently his sources were as reliable as Ace Williams'
January 4th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
and his adorable guarantees

January 4th, 2012 at 7:57 PM ^
That is too bad that he is a Sparty now, but I am happy for him that he gets to play D1 football on a scholarship while he is close to his family.
January 4th, 2012 at 7:59 PM ^
best of luck to him and best wishes and spirits to his dad.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:01 PM ^
Since Deanthony Arnet lived in (a dorm in) Tennessee, does that count as national recruiting?
January 4th, 2012 at 8:03 PM ^
yes.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^
...and as Darqueze Dennard is from Georgia, that would be interstellar.
January 4th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
Legitimate congratulations on making what may have been the only tasteful joke possible in this situation. Well done, sir.
I'm happy he can be close to his family and play D1 ball. Having said that, I hope he has 10 catches for -100 yards against Michigan.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:03 PM ^
Good luck to him. Glad to see Tennessee did the right thing.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:03 PM ^
Best wishes to the Arnett family. My father also has dealt with heart issues, and I have great sympathy for what they are going through. I'm sure that the extra time spent with his father will be much more important to DeAnthony than anything that will take place on the Tennessee football field . . .

MD was able to visit him because they were not playing in a BCS game.
January 4th, 2012 at 8:06 PM ^
Hopes he has fun dealing with Richardson and Countess
January 4th, 2012 at 8:12 PM ^
On to the next recruit...
January 4th, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
Good for him. They have developed WR pretty well over the years.
