Feeling better about the Lions trade now. They got great value. But If Dax Hill falls to 32, THAT'S who I wanted. Karlaftis would be fun to add opposite Hutch but he went 30.

I don’t think there’s a QB worth taking a risk on with the amount of holes this roster has and the desperate need for an influx of talent. Lions have too many needs to take a chance on a prospect.

Though I agree that Goff isn’t the guy, I just don’t think Lions are in a position to waste a pick on a guy who is also probably not the guy.

The Lions have so many other holes that I'd say you can probably hold onto Goff for one more year and fill a bigger position of need instead. Is Goff the long term answer? No, he isn't. But he's not a guy that you need to replace right now. I'm also betting on next year's QB draft class being better than this year's.

Looking at a trade chart, I’d agree. Looking at this specific draft and the needs of the team, I’m not sure yet.

Obviously I’ll need to see who is picked at 46 before my opinion is complete, but I just think right now that getting Dean and either Cine/Brisker/Pitre at 32 and 34 makes the Lions a better team moving forward than Williams and whoever is taken at 46. Add in the third round pick as well.

I like Williams, and I think he’ll be a really, really good player. I just look at the Lions and their desperate need for talent on the defensive side of the ball and they passed up the ability to get two defensive players at a position of need that were getting first round grades in Cine and Dean.

Now obviously there’s no way of knowing Dean would be there when the trade was made, but you did know there would be a safety. If Dean was gone, going safety at 32 and then WR at 34 was also an option.

If Brisker or Pitre fall to 46, that lessens the blow significantly for me. I’m not as big of a fan of the linebackers or corners projected to go in that range. Definitely not a fan of taking a chance on a QB.

Williams was INSANE for Alabama. 175 yards vs GA in the first half. It was shocking what he could do. IF IF IF he does heal, which word is he's on track, then he is great value. He is legit a game changer. Aiden is a game changer. Two actual game changers in the first day of the draft is always a win.

The only downside I had was seeing Dax almost fall to the Lions' original pick 32, and a good chance they would have taken him b/c they need a safety. Dax would have filled a lot of roles/needs for Detroit.

But Williams? Sky is the limit.

It’s not a knock on Williams at all. I don’t hate that they picked him and I think he’s going to be a great player. I just don’t think they should have made the trade up in the first place because of what was going to be available at the end of the first.

The Lions had a bottom 5 defense last season. You had the opportunity to add 3 players on defense in the first 34 picks. all of whom were receiving first round grades and would address each level of the defense. In my opinion that’s something that would have made the Lions a better team moving forward. Much more so than drafting Williams based on the current structure of the Lions roster.

One way to look at it is a trade scenario. Would you trade Williams and 46 for Cine, Dean, and a 3rd round pick? I can’t say with certainty that I’d say yes there. I’m not mad the Lions did it, it’s hard to complain about who they got, but it’s just not a move I would have made.

I can't blame the Lions going after a speedy downfield WR. If they kept number 32 they would have not gotten Daxton, so good move by the Lions. So far I'll give the Lions a grade of A in the 1st round at least. A big improvement in the first round during the past 10 years.

Yeah, they basically missed out on Cine and some other dude for a receiver with elite production in the SEC, and elite speed. Something they definitely need too. That WR group is very lacking. Quality over quantity. Game changers over above average/average players. I dig the move.

Also, congrats to Dax.

I almost got kicked out of work one day in Dayton (way back, in the early-mid 2000's).  I changed the background colors of the systems' console screens to blue and yellow (maize wasn't a color option).  The site lead wasn't amused...  I, however, LMAO - and only laughed harder the madder he got at me.

Come to think of it, I've never been back to that site.  Huh...  LOL!!  Who cares?

Congratulations  to Dax Hill !  Cincy got a steal and Dax is a first round pick with a playoff team.

Good luck and thanks for the memories Dax !
