+1 I am assuming you have some kind of medical background so thanks for explaining. So if a player doesn't complain about symptoms would a trainer or physician give a concussion test. I've been on sidelines as a player in highschool and it is a terrible view of what is happening on the field and I could see them missing a hit that would cause a conncussion. ( not trying to say this is what happened in the morris incident just as a general statement) We know if u get a head injury your not thinking correctly and if it's bad enough you might not even know or realize you are in a bad spot, why can't we get refs to help the staffs in getting a player that might be concussed an evaluation?

had taken to wearing their chin straps loose and not snapping the second strap which was causing a lot of helmets to come off at the slightest hit.  The penalty rule is to encourage the players to wear their helmet correctly.  Also, if the helmet is ripped off during a personal foul penalty, the player who lost his helmet can remain in the game.

Most of us know the rule. But also helmets are made to pop off when hit a certain way. Like when Vincent smiths helmet came off on the clowney hit and how Devins popped off during that play. On certain hits it is safer for the helmet to come off then the whiplash it can create from staying on.

The Shane Morris incident would tell me otherwise, if I were a parent of a recruit.  For Hoke to keep that kid in the game for 2 quarters, limping around defenseless, and then not take him out after suffering two devasting hits on the same drive, claiming "he didnt see it"...would show me that he is either incompetent or a liar.

This is correct. What I worry about is how many of today's coaches even care about developing people. I think all the money at stake and the short contract terms and the nature of the sports world has created a class of coaches that just don't care about anything but winning. It makes our ideal coach harder to find. Look at the top coaches at the moment: Saban, Miles, Mullen, Malzahn, Kelly, Meyer, Helfrich, Dantonio, Fisher. Saban doesn't even pretend to do anything but win and send guys to the NFL. Miles is similar. Meyer sends more kids to prison than the workforce. Dantonio refused to suspend kids who had been convicted of crimes. Fisher played a guy during a rape investigation. I'm not comfortable with that kind of coach. I'm sure we will get a coach who can do both. But it seems a daunting task nowadays. That's why I'd really like Harbaugh.

I know several parents who are, in fact, happy that their sons play for a quality human being who strives to do things the right way. And is succeeding by any measure that matters, except for wins and losses the last 14 or so games. You can legitimately criticize that record. The rest is bs and you've no idea what you're talking about. In the words of mr Brandon, get a life or get a new hobby!

trying to recruit right now. All they can really do is encourage recruits to wait and see what happens. I just hope they don't try to fill out the class now by offering a slew of plan B prospects.

The coaches, and they will lose their jobs most likely.  It doesn't mean you can't have sympathy for them, because by all accounts they are guys that players and fans have loved and who have done everything they can to succeed.  It just hasn't worked.

I don't have sympathy for Dave Brandon.  I do for Brady Hoke and his staff.

You understand most of these kids aspire to play in the NFL right?  Hoke and co.'s inability to develop players is no secret, even to these kids.  Why would they want to come here and possibly miss out on a chance to play at the NFL when they have multiple offers from other top notch programs?

I just disagree with the premise that Hoke has an inability to develop players.  He has an inability to coach a winning football team, but that doesn't mean he has impeded the individual talent of any players.

Coming to Michigan won't cause you to miss out on playing in the NFL.  Hoke has sent Michigan players to the league and a number of guys currently on our roster will end up there as well.

He also graduates players better than most any coach in the country.  Considering most college football players don't go to the NFL (or do for a short enough time that they can't make a career out of it), I don't think it's such a bad option.

It kind of is.  Look at how many kids have decomitted since last season.  This class was supposed to be the one to lead Michigan back into the national title conversation, instead recruits are dropping like flies.

back to national title contention? Anyways, that's not how national title teams are built. It's a series of good glasses with a couple of gamechangers(Winston at FSU, Newton at Auburn) thrown in.

The most important player in this class is Malzone simply because of the position he plays. These other positions can be filled by the new coach either this year or next.

I agree with you 100%.  Which is why we need to take as long as we need to make sure we get the right coach in place.  We shouldn't rush into a coaching hire with the idea that he can salvage some of the recruiting class.  If we need to wait until mid-January or February to land Harbaugh or Miles, then so be it.

Disagree with you on the timeline in general. Waiting till after the bowl game to get rid of RR put this coaching staff way behind on recruiting for this years seniors and redshirt juniors. A lot of the reason why we r not winning this year has to do with youth because we had two terrible recruiting classes in a row and on top of that a lot of attrition. Gardners class I think started with 27 and now he has one other red shirt senior graduating with him. There is only one coach that would be worth waiting that long to make a coaching for. I hope with back channels they can find out if Jimmy is going to take the job. If not the next coach is going to be in a similar situation that hoke is in now with what would still be an impatient fan base.

Yeah, it is.  This was going to be a relatively small class anyway, and whatever new coach comes in, Harbaugh or not, will sell excitement, hope, opportunity, etc.  Just like Franklin is doing at PSU.  And if the new coach isn't here in time for salvage much of this class, the 2016 class will be gangbusters and will have plenty of spots for everyone.

People have been sold two pigs in a Michigan poke over the last six years, they'll not be fooled again.  If there is to be a coaching change he'll have to be an all star to generate excitement.  Days of "This is Michigan fergoshsakes" and "I would have walked here" just aren't going to cut it.  Neither is the promise of a new exciting basketball on grass type offense, everyone knows Michigan is full of players that aren't those type of players.

Honestly, I think the Blues Brothers need to be sent on an assignment to the Bay Area with one absolute objective, bring back that dude named Harbaugh.  People are expecting that to happen and anything less than that and I'm afraid the program starts crashing.
