Crystal balls coming in for 2024 [HSP] Jaden Smith
3 crystal balls have come in from Sam Webb, Steve Lorenz, and Josh Edwards for currently unranked S Jaden Smith out of Charlotte. While he's currently unranked, his Hudl tape is pretty impressive. He's 6'3" 195, fast, violent tackler, plays well in space, and shows off some ball skills. Most of his tape is at OLB and it's not hard to see him perhaps ending up there in that Jaylen Harrell role. I doubt he will be unranked for long.
I liked the original Karate Kid much better but I thought he did a great job regardless.
Nio one believes me but the album he made a couple years back is actually pretty good. "Icon" is a banger.
Let's not forget his contributions to childish Gambino's Kauai
I'm justcwaiting for Jaden to be mature gambino
I love "Ghost" and the music video he did for it.
/shouts to the heavens
WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST CALL IT "THE KUNG FU KID"????? THEY MAKE EFFORTS IN THE SCRIPT TO LET THE AUDIENCE KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT, REPEAT, NOT KARATE!!! PLUS, "KUNG FU KID" STILL HAS THAT SWEET ALLITERATION EVERYONE LOVES!!!
Raise your hand if you tried this move.
If do right, no can defense
God help us if Kim Jong Un ever learns the technique
Sal Vulcano approves.
Just be sure to keep his mom’s name out your f****** mouth.
Best move?
- Sweep the leg
- Shoot the glass
One of my favorite quotes of all time: How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real. Right behind "Magnets, how do they work?"
I thought he'd be playing basketball after what his dad accomplished at Bel Air Academy.
Maybe he intentionally blew his shot with the scout for his cross-town rival after he found out the dude had a kid and college basketball was his ticket out da hood.
Has to be a late riser, right? Offers from VA Tech, Miami, Kentucky, and USC over the past few months.
Late riser, or just one that went unfound.
I only had to watch three snaps from the Hudl video to confirm this is another Harbaugh uncovered gem. He's going to be a stud at Michigan.
So, boo is gone? The write up said we were reaching at safety. This appears to confirm it
Boo Carter would likely be a nickel corner
Correct, but Carter is committing in a couple weeks and is strongly expected to choose Tennessee. Highly unlikely he ends up in the class unless he ends up flipping later on.
While he is deciding soon and has 2 crystal balls in for Tennessee, one is from October and one is from a Tennessee insider. Michigan is getting Carter's last official visit, is 7v7 teammates with Jacob Oden and Jeremiah Beasley, and Sam Webb was apparently hearing extremely strong buzz surrounding Michigan this weekend. While it's not a given, saying "strongly expected to choose Tennessee" is not true
Ok fine, strike the "strongly" if you want, but Tennessee is absolutely the favorite. A set commitment date is usually a reliable indicator a recruit's decision has already started to crystallize. He's visited Tennessee 6 times, and Michigan once. All sites, not just 247 are predicting he goes to Tennessee. I'll concede I hadn't heard of this specific buzz from Sam Webb, but Webb, Holland, and all the recruiting insiders are notorious for vague, non-predictive hype to drive up clicks. Maybe an exceptional visit could sway him, but I stand by that Tennessee is the presumed destination.
We have long to be considered a favorite and every report about him mentions how he and Oden are always attached at the hip.
Jeremiah Beasley and Boo Carter have talked about being a packaged deal as well
Tennessee is wack.
Looks like a nice, aggressive, violent, young man. Football should work out well.
Why Safety? Seems odd. Looks like a linebacker, so my untrained expertise tells me.
Why do they insist on speeding up the videos? The OL’s are running 4.5’s.
He's fast enough to overtake a fast smaller player. He diagnoses plays before the snap. He tackles downhill with violence. He's not big enough to be a B1G LB. I'm guessing they're looking for him to play strong safety as run support and hat-on-hat in the flat for any flex TE play- a lot of times they're switching down closer to the edge whereas free safeties are often faster and more coverage focused- especially in the Raven's system. Here's a play from Mike Macdonald's playbook as an illustrative example.
Good points...though he does have the frame to accommodate the weight to play LB. That said, he would appear to be an apt successor for Makari.
He is a pretty hard hitter and seems to react quickly and get through traffic. He doesn't really cover much though besides a couple short routes in the flat. I feel like he won't be a safety at the next level, do we know which position he's being recruited for?
I think most of the Michigan recruiting reporters have indicated he's being recruited for a hybrid role, much more like a linebacker than a safety. He will probably play a lot of linebacker and will be placed in interesting positions in exotic formations.
I like to be placed in interesting positions in exotic formations
Strange that he is unranked at this stage. Must be some story there? Injuries or something? While his offer sheet isn’t a who’s who, he has some major schools in there - USC, Miami, Kentucky, Utah, etc - it’s definitely at least a three star offer list. So what gives?
Edit: Also Alex referred to him as a 3* in the recruiting roundup? Strange...
On3 is the only site that has a rating for him. To them, he's a (high) 3*, the #30 LB in the class, and the #14 player in North Carolina.
I’m guessing he’s a 3* in the roundup because the only site that has bothered to evaluate and grade him says he’s a high 3*. I wouldn’t consider “we haven’t even seen him yet” from the other three sites as part of the ranking if I were writing about him.
Does anyone know if the staff views him as a LB or safety? The ranking sites seem divided.
Edit: In the recent recruiting update he was listed as a LB but made it sound he is the backup plan to Chiles/Beasley.
Has anyone, "ever" heard anything positive, from a Tesla?
The color yellow is definitely overrated, but the song is great.
To make sure I'm up to speed, we currently have a commitment from Jerod Smith, expecting one from his brother, Jacob Smith, and are now receiveing crystal balls for Jaden Smith (unrelated). Any other J Smith's out there?
Forget Hill/Hill-Green/Green/Green, here comes JSmith JSmith JSmith
#1 WR and current OSU commit Jerimiah Smith...
Damn, Georgia got to him first
John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith
man with crystal balls should not ride bareback

Maizen….come out to play.
After last year's OSU game, I kept thinking "Elevenwarriors, come out to play-ay!"
Bet you didn't know that line was an ad lib.
At first glance I thought it was our DL recruits twin brother, until I saw the weight listed.
Another Charlie boy! (different school, I know...)
This looks like a backup plan at OLB, unless we have room to take that many OLBs. Is Curtis a flight risk?
