Countdown to Kickoff: Day 23
I don't mean to steal Boyz n da Pahokee's thunder, and I'm sure he'll comment on here with the youtube link, but here's day 23.
http://www.mgoblue.com/allaccess/?media=185042
It features a "holy-shit-denard-to-roundtree-spread-quarterbacks-shouldn't-be-able-to-throw-like-that-especially-on-the-run-denard-is-a-god-i-can't-wait-for-the-season throw" about 25 seconds in.

I'm filing a claim for my thunder, dammit ;-)
August 12th, 2010 at 8:50 AM ^
...isn't yin and yang, I don't know what is.
August 12th, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
are these guys immune to the insane heat we've had the last few days, whats up with the long sleeves and hoodies?
August 12th, 2010 at 8:27 AM ^
I am really look forward to see how the defense performs. They have the potential talent (a little less now....), but it sounds like they have the drive. I love motivated kids like Jordan.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:35 AM ^
I expect that the simplification of the defense this year is going to go a long way.
The players have been going on and on about how much more comfortable they are with the simplified schemes this year.
The lack of production on D last year in light of the high level of talent we had was puzzling and in hind sight was probably due to nobody having any idea what was going on.
If our D is at least serviceable this year, then we should win 7-8 games without breaking a sweat, and it should be at that level with Woolfolk returning, the positive reviews surrounding Cam Gordon, and a better-than-average D-line.
The big question marks of course are the LB corps and the non-Woolfolk side of the field, but good defenses can have their weaknesses without completely self destructing.

Denard's pass was OK I guess... gotta tighten up that spiral though! Also, he's fast.
Kovacs seems like an awesome kid. I'd like to punch the guy that edits the videos down though... what's up with all the awkward few seconds of silence after someone answers a question?
August 12th, 2010 at 8:33 AM ^
He's fumbling for the giant red button on the side of the camera.
August 12th, 2010 at 8:34 AM ^
I totally agree with your thinking on Denard. But of course, this is the preseason, so every pass I get to see gets drummed up about a thousand times more than it should be in my head.
August 12th, 2010 at 8:39 AM ^
I would kill (well, maybe not, but I'd maim) to just watch the QBs for a whole practice. Please excuse me while I watch that three second clip a dozen more times.
August 12th, 2010 at 2:26 PM ^
I agre completely about the video editor. One of the videos (I think it was schilling) showed Schilling finish a sentence, then Schilling picking at his ear for a second or two.
I don't know what kind of artistic vision the guy has but I certainly don't agree with it.
August 12th, 2010 at 8:36 AM ^
A whole lotta Denard in these clips!
Gotta love Jordan too! These are the type of guys that I want on my team! "Michigan Guys"... Guys that are here because they love Michigan! Guys that have heart! Guys that don't dance around and draw attention to themselves when they make a play like they're supposed to! Where's my 32 jersey?!?!?
August 12th, 2010 at 8:40 AM ^
is a kid that I feel will never find his maximum value, because I don't think he has one. Athletically limited somewhat, sure, but he just knows his stuff! Also, he did catch Denard on a run.
August 12th, 2010 at 8:40 AM ^
Just Sayin.
Denard's throw referenced in the OP is a little wobbly, but also a great throw on the run. If he can throw like that consistently out of the zone read, we're gonna hang 50 on some people
Also, thanks for posting, especially the embedded link. Youtube is blocked at work, but embedded youtube videos at mgoblog are fair game.

Yeah I was going to say..where has Tate been? It's all Shoelace!! Probably just coincidence though.
August 12th, 2010 at 8:43 AM ^
Jordan Kovacs doesn't sleep. He waits.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
He also listened to Nas: "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death." Or maybe not, but I do so ... there's that.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
I like the interviews, but I really, really want to see more football. That throw was awesome and I'm sure it was due to defenders coming up to defend against the run, but STOP LETTING RECEIVERS BY THE DEEP SAFETIES!!
August 12th, 2010 at 9:18 AM ^
not a full squad drill. That may have been a drill for the lines, and then one receiver with one corner.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:26 AM ^
Are you saying I shouldn't read too much into a single pass on a field level shot in which I can't see the whole defense/offense? That's crazy talk.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:19 AM ^
...was conspicuous by his absence as well. Perhaps it was just a fluke of timing. I.e., Denard's turn was up when the crew was shooting. They could have captured all that footage in 30 to 45 minutes.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:28 AM ^
Tate was working with a position coach or something, indeed.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:34 AM ^
Its very telling
August 12th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
but that clip of Woodson still gives me chills. I can't wait for someone to become a major playmaker this season.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:35 AM ^
I too noticed that not only in today's video but in previous videos that Tate does not appear to be taking the snaps. Again, maybe this is just a fluke of when the video was shot rather than a reflection on who is getting more reps. I think Jordan is taking lessons from Chuck Norris.
August 12th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
taking snaps in the previous videos. You'll notice that Gardner doesn't make an appearance in this one either. (Or Kennedy, for that matter). It's just when they were filming.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:31 AM ^
I always questioned the Ray Vinopal offer until now, RichRod wanted to have Kovac's twin brother on the team. Christ those guys look identical
August 12th, 2010 at 10:50 AM ^
Very impressed with the kid. He definitely seems like a kid livin his dream, but he also talks with a bit of swag. I like it.

JORDAN KOVACS NEVER SLEEPS
August 12th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
Once a month, this causes him to totally flip out with sleep deprivation and punch the nearest person in buckeye gear. Not a huge deal, except for once when it was a baby.
In his defense, that baby was seriously ugly.
August 12th, 2010 at 1:00 PM ^
It was funny to hear him say "When I grow up I want to..." You look pretty grown up to me, kid.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
pretty sure its kovacs getting beat on that denard throw too. Great kid who never sleeps, attends class, and wants to have lunch with charles!
August 12th, 2010 at 6:55 PM ^
Why does Jordan keep winking at me with his right eye?
