I saw this title and I was all...

Then, I saw the crazy sideburns and handlebar mustache.  I thought he was stopping there, and I was all...

He cut those off too, and now I'm all...

Hopefully, by noon, he will have grown it back again.  He's like a Chia-Pet.

To everything - turn, turn, turn There is a season - turn, turn, turn And a time for every purpose under heaven A time to be shorn, a time to shave A time to buzz, a time to reap A time to prune, a time to clip A time to laugh, a time to weep

The complexities of the entertainment value of this site continues to comfound me. The most interesting board news in recent memory details the demise of some fabulous facial hair.

Well, as let down as I feel not getting any football clips in there the peice did a nice job of really showing what a nice, genuine, down to earth guy Elliot is.  Another great representation of a Michigan student athlete.

A little pre-shave oil A dab of Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar on a silver-tip badger brush Whip until in a frenzy of foam, apply hot with circular motion A Merkur Futur razor with Feather blades, set at "3" A total of three passes, applying new layers of foam at the end of each pass- with, across, then finally against the grain; Ice cold water rinse, dabbing carefully Apply some aftershave balm...ahh!!!! But not shaving can be a ritual too.....RESPECT.

...it is a nice morning ritual that takes less than 10 minutes once you get used to it. Part of the problem is in the past guys would learn from their fathers the proper way to shave, but this has gone by the wayside in this age of multi-blade cartridges and pressurized goo from a can. There are very few instances where men really take the time to take care of themselves, and this can be one of them. The Art of Shaving stuff is a nice gateway drug, but you will quickly move past it. You can even start with the brush, shaving soap, oils, etc. but still use your cartridge shaver; afterward you will at least want to get into a decent double-edged blade. That little smoke shop in the Nichols Arcade in Ann Arbor has a lot of that stuff. Some people go all the way to the straight edge razor with the strop and everything, but personally I think that is a bit too much. It was the invention of the double-edged razor blade and safety razor that got people out of the barbershops and into their homes in the first place. There is however, a really cool retro thing about the straight edge razor, just don't expect to be able to take it in your carry-on baggage!

Be aware, there is a learning curve to shaving properly, but there are also many resources (check out Mantic59 on YouTube, or the Badgers and Blades website) to get you going. The overall results, are really worth it.

Real men, like Elliott Mealer, need no cream or water to shave.  They chop their beards off with axes and laugh at the foolish mortals watching in awe.
