Conan O'Brien 'trolls' Jim Harbaugh in Michigan skit
I consider this to mostly be weak trolling - but still made me laugh a little overall. In light of recent events personally - and for the world at large - a laugh was nice.
Their 'trolling' moment:
"So get out and vote, 'cause if you don't, you're kind of letting other states that aren't as awesome as Michigan, Ohio, make decisions about your education, your water, your roads and your jobs.
"And unlike Jim Harbaugh, voting costs nothing, it's very effective and it lives up to the hype."

I'd like to see Conan call Jim....Chrissie Evert.

Rome is such an ass. He had that coming. He is still an ass.
October 13th, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
That was all staged
October 14th, 2020 at 5:52 AM ^
Totally staged.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:40 PM ^
I think what Jim Everett meant was that he strongly believes that his gender pronouns are he/him/his. I like Rome, but he was totally in the wrong here, not only because he was insulting Everett, but also because he was using gender to do so.
October 13th, 2020 at 7:31 PM ^
Highly offensive!!
October 13th, 2020 at 1:27 PM ^
It was funny. But that ghastly pronunciation of "Michigander"?
October 13th, 2020 at 3:45 PM ^
Yeah, his research team provided a lot of fun little nuggets, but probably should have given him a pronunciation guide for that one...
October 13th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
So Euchre is just a Michigan thing?
October 14th, 2020 at 8:24 AM ^
Who plays Euchre with a full deck anyways?
October 13th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
The "Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend" podcast has been a godsend for 2020. By far the most consistently funny podcast I've found.
October 13th, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
This is 100% true. Conan is at his best when doing "improv" and just shooting the breeze with people. Most of the skits on his show over the years have been pretty lame. The podcast is unscripted and he mostly just insults his co-workers and then chats with celebrities. I generally don't laugh at podcasts, but I do at his.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
It’s taken a while, but looks like the long awaited Conan and Quentin Tarantino merge is almost complete.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
To each his own as far as humor goes, but I have never found Conan even remotely funny in the limited exposure I have had to him (promotions for his show).
October 13th, 2020 at 1:51 PM ^
Clearly, you just don't like funny things.
October 13th, 2020 at 8:02 PM ^
To each their own.
As above, I agree when Conan is off the cuff and Improv - he is WAY better.
Structured, scripted stuff? Not so much. Andy Richter is always a nice foil, but can't save many of their skits.

I heard this the other day, but I can't recall if it was one of the local sports shows or Dan Le Batard's show. Whoever it was said they always found Conan to be really entertaining when he was a guest on other shows. He always seemed more relaxed and natural and it allowed his humor to come through so much better than when he was hosting his own show.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:52 PM ^
I don’t get the joke.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:53 PM ^
Ironically, voting is not effective and definitely doesn't live up to any hype whatsoever.
October 13th, 2020 at 1:58 PM ^
Is Conan O'Brien still on TV? Wow!
October 13th, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
Yeah, he's buried on TBS. He landed there after NBC dumped him only a month (or so) after Leno retired, so Leno could come back. He got royally fucked by Leno and (especially) NBC in that fiasco. Leno finally retired for good less than a year later. I was never a fan of Leno... And NBC copyrighted Conan's best material, so he couldn't take it with him. His writers at TBS also suck, so his show now is only a shell of what it used to be.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
Agreed. I thought he was banished to the future.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:25 PM ^
I loved Conan's 12:35 show on NBC. But when he tried 11:35 he was out of his element. His type of humor just did not work with the broader, older audience that watches TV at that earlier hour. That and The Jay Leno Show were two huge gambles by NBC and in both cases, it lost.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:32 PM ^
Who seriously watches tv at that hour? I’m in bed by 10!
October 13th, 2020 at 8:18 PM ^
Well, most of us here aren't someone's grandmother...
October 13th, 2020 at 2:01 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh, shockingly, seems far more thick-skinned than I'd anticipated from the whole Colin Cowherd situation a bit back, I'm sure he got a giggle despite him more than likely denying it to anyone who asks
October 13th, 2020 at 2:18 PM ^
I remember the good old days of the 90s and early 00s... back when we were winning conference championships, about as often as not, and when Conan O'Brien was funny. Sadly, neither of those have been true for over 15yrs now.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:30 PM ^
You know, I was thinking about this just the other day. Include the late 80s, 90s and early 00s. Good times for Michigan football for sure and includes my 4 years there. But by my calculation, UM's best winning streak against OSU was 4. Even shitty Cooper managed to beat UM a few times to stop winning streaks, '94 and '98 specifically. That's a far cry from what's going on right now.
October 13th, 2020 at 2:23 PM ^
As funny as he ever is.
October 13th, 2020 at 2:37 PM ^
People still pay attention to Conan O'Brien?
October 13th, 2020 at 3:14 PM ^
Curious what beef he has with Michigan, since he’s not from Ohio, didn’t go to OSU or any rival school, doesn’t appear even remotely associated with having an interest in any college team, or if he’s just going after low hanging fruit. Either that or he’s got a writer on staff who hates Michigan or something.
I don’t care one way or the other. Just curious what beef he has.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:19 PM ^
I don't think he has a beef. Just doing humor.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
Outside of the Michigan family, it's pretty well accepted that Jimmy is highly overrated and is currently a go to reference.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
He takes a dig at Ohio during the video as well... wouldn't think about it any deeper than just putting together a bunch of jokes relevant to a specific state. He's made videos for most states that could be remotely considered "swing" states in this elections.
October 13th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
He did videos—which were just as side-splittingly hilarious—about Florida, Arizona, etc.
October 13th, 2020 at 3:19 PM ^
After Conan's stint on The Tonight Show and his largely overlooked show on TBS, isn't him mocking Harbaugh for not living up to the hype a big case of the pot calling the kettle black?
October 13th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
Considering the state of Late NIght - this is appropriate:
October 13th, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
I've been Team Coco since 1998, before such thing even existed. While I don't watch his show all that often, as many have noted his podcast is a huge hit. And, what makes Conan so great is that he is much more than "just" a show - he's essentially launching an entire production company. Tv, podcasts, comedians, specials, live shows. Chances are, if you don't like him personally, you like someone or something that he's directly behind. It's quiet impressive.
October 13th, 2020 at 8:06 PM ^
Not always the biggest fan of the scripted stuff - but I would agree.
Conan is a HUGE advocate for those unnoticed in the industry and does a WONDERFUL job of promoting those who need the boost.
I think he is a genuinely decent guy as well. Haven't heard of any b.s. or scandals.
October 13th, 2020 at 10:55 PM ^
For that matter, Harbaugh is a decent guy, too. He acts on his sincere beliefs, just as Conan would have you believe he does. Wouldn’t be surprised if Conan makes more money, though, and all without having any direct performance metrics to be held to. Unlike Harbaugh.
October 13th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
im completely lost on this one
October 13th, 2020 at 8:06 PM ^
He basically was saying Harbaugh is overrated...with humor.
October 13th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Another dig.
Us against the World.
Go Blue.
PS - is it just me, or has "kicking somebody in the head while their down" become the latest fashion accessory in American culture?
October 13th, 2020 at 10:02 PM ^
He never even brought out a Staee hat. Michigan needs to step on their throats this season.
