I know our problems are myriad and complex in some ways, but you've hit on the most basic and fundamental one to me: our offensive and defensive lines are simply unable to physically dominate their opponents at the line of scrimmage in any sustained, consistent manner.

When Barwis was actually here, people bitched about S&C a ton, too.  We weren't  a physically dominant team.  Think back to 2009 Illinois and us getting stuffed four times from the one.  We showed more speed than now on offense, but I think that was more about recruiting and scheme.  On defense we looked like we were running in mud.

MGrow, in general I'm a proponent of this theory—that organizations take on the character of their CEO or leader—but I'm not sure it explains everything wrong with the team.

Tom Osborne was a hardly fire-breathing monster on the sideline, but the Huskers under him were always tough, physical teams who you couldn't just push around, even if they were outmatched in pure talent against some teams. Bill Snyder is another coach with a calm demeanor on the sidelines who nonetheless always has KSU competitive in ways that Michigan is not at the moment.

I know. It's just frustrating because I know the talent's there. The recruiting services can't all be wrong. There's certainly no Hoke bump like Beilein may get due to our basketball team's insane talent development. Literally the only explaination is piss poor coaching and the team reflecting the coaches' laid back attitude. It's just frustrating as I know you and many others know and feel. Last weekend my sister and I were driving back from Break Fast and she just didn't and doesn't get it. She couldn't understand why I had to listen to the rest of the game and why I care. I wish I could turn it off but at least for now I just can't. I love Brian's "it's not your fault" message. It's not our fault MgoBretheren and MgoSisters. Frankly it doesn't matter whose fault it is except to get them out of the positions of power so they can do no further harm. Just fix what is clearly a broken program somebody, anybody. Please.

...gonna be a chilly night.

Cheer hard. GO BLUE.

I'm going to say this in this thread where few people will see it...that way if I'm wrong, I can act like it never happened.

Michigan is going to win and win solidly in this game.

3 Things

  1. Night/UTL game
  2. The support from the former players and having them on the sidelines is going to be huge
  3. Hoke was unHokian and gave up the gameplan...they're going back to what works and they're going to run Devin.

Hoke is coaching like his job is on the line...and Devin's health may be on the line because I think they're going to run him like last year or Denard the year before. Hoke is going to go down swinging.

Michigan - 31

Penn State - 20

(for us, that's winning big)

When we are smack dab in the middle of football season. This team should be 6-0 or 5-1 if we had competent coaches. Just on talent alone we should be the 3rd best team in the east division. Now I have to worry that Brandon is going to be allowed to stay on as AD and he will pick an awful coach to satisfy Michigan Man crowd!
