I know our problems are myriad and complex in some ways, but you've hit on the most basic and fundamental one to me: our offensive and defensive lines are simply unable to physically dominate their opponents at the line of scrimmage in any sustained, consistent manner.

When Barwis was actually here, people bitched about S&C a ton, too. We weren't a physically dominant team. Think back to 2009 Illinois and us getting stuffed four times from the one. We showed more speed than now on offense, but I think that was more about recruiting and scheme. On defense we looked like we were running in mud.

Barwis was always more hype than results

Teams are a direct reflection of their head coach Aglick IMO. There is no "fury" to unleash.
Which is why we comments like "winning is just a statistic".

MGrow, in general I'm a proponent of this theory—that organizations take on the character of their CEO or leader—but I'm not sure it explains everything wrong with the team.
Tom Osborne was a hardly fire-breathing monster on the sideline, but the Huskers under him were always tough, physical teams who you couldn't just push around, even if they were outmatched in pure talent against some teams. Bill Snyder is another coach with a calm demeanor on the sidelines who nonetheless always has KSU competitive in ways that Michigan is not at the moment.

I was also disappointed that Desmond helped perpetuate the "former players are supporting the team when everyone else isn't" narrative. Sigh.
Et tu, Desmond?
October 11th, 2014 at 11:41 AM ^
If Desmond said that, he's a hypocrite of the first order. It was just before the Rutgers game when he said that Peppers was the only guy on the team who wanted to be great.

I'm paraphrasing him, but that was pretty much what I heard come out of his mouth.

We can be sure Devin Gardner will never stand on a table and yell "Fuck her right in the pussy!" So there's that.

Who is this guy? I feel like it's gonna be an "Oh, duh" answer but...

Man I suck sometimes. Good call, thanks.

I had no idea either. I walked in mid-segment and had to rewind to figure it out.

Creating this thread when there was one hour and fifteen minutes left in the show. Odd.

15 minutes would be odd. An hour and 15? That's more than half the show. Plus there's a thread like this every week.

Your statement is mathematically wrong.

...gonna be a chilly night.
Cheer hard. GO BLUE.
I'm going to say this in this thread where few people will see it...that way if I'm wrong, I can act like it never happened.
Michigan is going to win and win solidly in this game.
3 Things
- Night/UTL game
- The support from the former players and having them on the sidelines is going to be huge
- Hoke was unHokian and gave up the gameplan...they're going back to what works and they're going to run Devin.
Hoke is coaching like his job is on the line...and Devin's health may be on the line because I think they're going to run him like last year or Denard the year before. Hoke is going to go down swinging.
Michigan - 31
Penn State - 20
(for us, that's winning big)

I second this. For the same reasons.
This will be one of those "Where the hell was this all along?" 2008 Cap One Bowl / 2013 OSU games.

CBS is supposed to be channel 5 on dish but it's showing as the ACC network and it's plaing the Duke game. Dammit North Carolina

I'm sure if you search ESPN.com, you'll find it. That said, he was only asked two or three questions and it was about 60 seconds long. He said absolutely nothing interesting.

When we are smack dab in the middle of football season. This team should be 6-0 or 5-1 if we had competent coaches. Just on talent alone we should be the 3rd best team in the east division. Now I have to worry that Brandon is going to be allowed to stay on as AD and he will pick an awful coach to satisfy Michigan Man crowd!
