the idea that they are willing enough to at least listen and take a visit is a testament to the respect they have for Harbaugh.

But I'm sure St. Saban threatened McMillon with pulling his offer and I'm sure the same was done here.

That's a heckuva risk to take on a new program just weeks before signing day.

It should be a fun barbecue at the big house this year!

Even Harbaugh isn't going to get them all.  It's one of the consequences of running an ethical program.  However, it should be obvious to anyone watching that Harbaugh is an even better recruiter than Brady Hoke, who did a wonderful job in that department while he was at Michigan.

Sorry to be cynical, but I see it like this.  Some players are seriously interested in Michigan.  Some use it like coaches do: leverage for a better offer.  I am not accusing any particular player here, but one can't be totally naive to the possibilities, either.

Harbaugh will get great players who are right for the University of Michigan.  As a fan, I am not going to worry about those who don't want to play in Ann Arbor.  AFAIC, it's better that they don't sign with Michigan if they don't have a burning desire to don the Maize and Blue.

The kind of kid that chooses michigan commits in July and gets the process done with early. Not sure why, they just do. It seems a lot of these kids like to have their ego stroked by harbaughs celebrity. Shut it down, work on 2016.

Hell no. We can still piece together a top 30 class in 2015 if we have a good NSD. That may not be great, but given the circumstances it is better than shuting it down and looking to 2016.

Harbaugh is going after some big game. He may miss, but at least he is taking a shot. I like that we are trying to flip recruits. I like that we are going to California and Texas. Recruit National footprint.

It fits Harbagugh to be the bully. Yeah, we want your recruits, the ones in your back yard, the ones you had sown up. We aren't afraid to make it known either. You know what it takes to win? Big properly inflated balls. Harbaugh has them. We might be underdogs with recruits this year, but we still fight.

This is Michigan, we do not shut it down. We fight you tooth and nail for every yard, every basket, every goal.

Well said, Mr. TheThief.  But where has this voice of reason and passion been since 2011??  You been laying low in hideout??  On the lamb??  Crossing off days in the Jimmy???  Just damn glad you got sprung, Thief, we need more guys out of the halfway house and back on this blog with fire in their bellies...

The idiot boasting around here about how Harbaugh is just going to march in and grab whatever kid he wants from any school regardless of the fact that the kid has had a relationship with the other coach for a year or two and has known JH for maybe two weeks is entertaining. The meltdown at our first loss of the Harbaugh era is going to be epic.

Kinda like how coaches get raises.  1) Rumor of a new job,  2) Gets raise 3) Surprise, stays in old job.   Irony.

I sure hope all of these kids are just looking for verbal assurances from coaches in lieu of "raises".

There's been a lot of Harbaugh and Michigan trash talk on the UCLA boards, think they're frustrated that Michigan keeps going after their commits and I guess some Michigan "fans" have been acting like idiots on Clark's twitter.  The lack of success of the last seven years has also led to a "what track record" type of reaction when people bring up Harbaugh's track record with Tight Ends.  Most of this is understandable and a good reason why it's time to start f'ing winning again in order to get back the respect that seems to have been lost.

Still, you'd think a fan base that has to deal with the batshit insanity of Bruins Nation would perhaps understand better that you can't judge a fanbase by a selected group of internet representatives.

Mora calling the commits up and asking them WTF is going on and that if they indeed go on the visit that he will have to keep recruiting their position with other recruits and/or he tells them that he will pull the offer if they do go on the visit, like Hoke used to be able to do.

I'm sure that's the case. At the same time, though, shouldn't this be something commits know before they decided to announce they're visiting somewhere else?

I just don't get it. My parents would flip shit if I were pulling someone's leg during such a public process as this, whether it be the team I was already committed to or the staff I told I was going to go visit.

Look ... these are kids. One cannot reasonably expect high school seniors to exercise the judgment of a mature adult. It would be more wise for a verbally committed recruit who wants to visit anothef school to remain quiet and not publicize the visit. Much like an emplyed adult would do if interviewing for another job.

I think that some of these kids would really like to visit Michigan and Harbaugh. Yet, its close to NSD. If the staffs at other schools threaten not to hold their spots, what if they visit Michigan, and then decide it's not for them? They're left in a vulnerable position, particularly if someone else fills their previously committed spot.

Different for someone like Marshall who has yet to verbally commit.

Ultimately, our new staff will have great success on the recruiting trail once they have time to develop relationships with kids, their families, and high school coaches. They're greatly handicapped this year by the late start. All things considered, so far, so good. We're not going to get 'em all and it's silly and unrealistic to expect otherwise.
