Tough break for the kid.

He is one of Sparty's starting Wide Receivers.  Given their running game struggles, I expected him to be one of the biggest threats to our D in 3 weeks.   I doubt he'd return for this in 3 weeks, but without knowing the nature of the fracture, its impossible to say.

I haven't watched every MSU snap, but Davis has won every one-on-one matchup I've seen him go for, and I've never seen him drop a catchable ball. White may be the better player, but I haven't gathered that from the MSU games I've seen.

Lewerke running, and Davis catching 50/50 balls are going to be my main concern when we play Sparty. Hopefully we take advantage of their less than stellar pass D.

They are a team whose primary goal when they play Michigan is to injure the QB.  I am sorry for White as a human being because he deserves compassion, but not for Sparty.

I’m sure it won’t matter against us.  I am sure he will either be back, or one of their other very average players will have the game or their lives.

As an FYI.. supposedly their injured punter is going to redshirt and return next year.  Punting could be a real issue for them against us.

Edit:  I’m a little confused by the redshirt, as he is a 5th year senior.  However, Hartbarger’s dad works where I do and told this to a co-worker.

What's the status of their o line?

Last I saw during the Indiana game the starting tackles weighed about 280lbs each. I'm assuming some of those guys were pressed into duty due to injuries but oh man they sound like prime bull rush candidates for Winovich et al

They've got some injuries.  They're abysmal at run blocking, but have been surprisingly OK at pass pro.

They've moved Higby to LT: he started the year at center and was getting pushed into the backfield on the regular, so yes your bullrush comment seems appropriate.  They put Matt Allen at center and he looks OK, but since he couldn't beat Higby to start the year I'm suspecting he has a weakness (seems like they really wanted Allen to take that job in the spring/Fall).  Beedle is below average at guard, but fine in pass pro.  Jarvis was a 4* kid who was fine at the other guard, but he looks hurt now.  They moved last year's right tackle Matt Campbell to fill that spot.  I'd say he's above average or so.  Again, terrible as a unit at run blocking.  LJ Scott wasted a year of his life.

Chewins is their LT of choice, but he's been out all year, with some sporadic plays the last few games.  He's probably ready to go for Michigan, but might not be in physical shape.

We should be able to have our way with them.  We said that last year and for many years back.  Dantonio seems to find a way with quick passes or cut blocking or scheme.  But against the full big ten schedule this limitation should cost them some games.

Not sure if there was a post about it but it's been mentioned. He's their second best WR and was a freshman AA last year. He may be out for the year, TBD for now but odds he's back for Michigan are slim.

From my count MSU's injury report is currently:

WR: White, Jalen Nailor, Darrell Stewart and Cam Chambers. Stewart is a starter, Nailor and Chambers are backups who play a lot. All 3 missed CMU but probably won't be out long term.

RB: LJ Scott, out the past two games. Dressed for CMU but didn't play so may be back soon.

FB: Colin Lucas. Starting FB who missed CMU.

OL: LT Cole Chewins, LG David Beedle, RG Kevin Jarvis, RT Luke Campbell. Jarvis didn't dress for CMU, Chewins and Beedle have both missed games this year and played vs Indiana but didn't start. Campbell went out vs Indiana but came back at the end. I think all 3 played vs CMU but not 100% sure.

DE: Jacub Panasiuk, Starting DE who played against CMU for the first time since Utah St.

CB: Josiah Scott and Josh Butler. Scott is their best CB who has been out all year and hasn't started rehabing yet, probably (?) won't play against UM. Butler is his replacement who missed CMU.

P: Jake Hartburger. Starter, probably out for the year.

If you watched the slo-mo replay, that was one terrible looking broken wrist.

If you have not watched it, don't

Sort of like watching the Joe Theisman broken leg play.

And if you have not seen that one, don't go Googling around for it.  You don't want to see it.

I (vaguely) know both Cody and his dad - former Giants/Lions/Bengals CB Sheldon White (also did scouting for the Lions for years).  He is a good kid and they are a good family even if they chose MSU....  tough break for him and hope he has a quick recovery and as always I hope we annihilate MSU.

Since we're talking MSU, I'll chime in.

White is our best receiver, more explosive than Davis imo. Losing him is huge. MSU has been suprisingly injury plagued this year, probably 2-3 starters a week have been out. Against CMU, we were down to Davis and a bunch of backup slot WRs.

Our OL has also been pretty snake bit this year. Three different projected starts this preseason have missed games. I'm including Chewins in there, but he probably can't be considered a starter anymore. He hasn't started yet this year (started every game last year), but has played in I think 3 of the games. OL coach said he's still dealing with the injury so I doubt he's 100% at any point this year.
