Coaching carousel: LSU

Submitted by Mr Miggle on

There is a lot of speculation that LSU will part ways with Les Miles, with their boosters paying off his huge buyout. Les is expected to address that with his team tomorrow. While who might replace him is an interesting topic, I'm interested in what he'll do next year.

A TV gig seems most likely. Does he become a candidate for oher P5 jobs? Not many fired coaches go straight to another HC job, but he would have that opportunity. How crazy would it be for him to come here for a year? He could be an analyst rather than a position coach. He stays involved in coaching without a high pressure position and gets to come home. Salary is irrelevant with his buyout. .

LSU might as well can Miles and hire Chip Kelly. No way Chip survives this clusterfuck of a performance today against the Bucs.

Winston has 5 TDs against us... are you fucking serious?!?!?!?

Miles will be hired somewhere else. He would be the best available coach. I can see him at USC or even Maryland.

Or shiet... If LSU somehow lands Jimbo Fisher, then I can see Miles at FSU.

Well, Les' background is on the offensive side of the ball (OL coach and OC).  If Drevno gets a HC gig, his experience would fit Drevno's responsibilities perfectly.

I don't follow recruiting that well.  Are there any recruits that we're after that he could swing our way?

I didn't say he would.  I only said that his experiences would replace Drevno perfectly (OL coach and OC).

With all of the HC openings available this year, there's no way he steps down to a coordinator position.  I wasn't saying he would.

Personally, I'd like to see Les take Corso's spot on Gameday.

Once they face a defense with equal talent, they are usually toasted.  Unless their defense stifles the opposing offense and they win a low scoring squeaker.

Your point about his shitt QB and average at best offense is spot on.

Something I've heard mentioned a few times is how Harbaugh's offense is simple looking to a novice (like me), but in actuality is really very difficult to defend.  This was mentioned in the broadcast yesterday, how Michigan has had something like 60 or 70 different player and/or formation combinations this year.

Very happy with our current HC and coaching staff situation.

Les Miles will get a job in a heartbeat if fired. He has a national title and a great record at LSU when the SEC was at its strongest. There are so many job openings this year that I'm sure hell get something. I'd be more interested in seeing who LSU hires to replace him.

If Les Miles wants to continue working, there will be more than enough offers for him. I am more intrigued to see what kind of job he wants or is willing to take. Would Miles sit out a year to wait and see if someone will offer an elite job (like Urban Meyer) or would he take a job at a middle-tier Power 5 school like Illinois? I think part of this also depends on the terms of his buyout as well.

I actually heard someone today say Texas was a possible landing spot. I don't buy it, but I think VA Tech would be a great landing spot for him. He could keep Bud Foster around. I believe Les could bring a good OC to Blacksburg.
