Chuck Filiaga transferring to Minnesota
January 12th, 2022 at 6:28 PM ^
I feel sorry for the guys who have to row his boat.
Best of luck to him.
January 12th, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
Well, the boat is probably lighter overall with Daniel Faalele and his near 400 lbs. going to NFL.
January 12th, 2022 at 10:47 PM ^
Lots of teams could have had Faalele. They didn't think he could be developed to be good enough. But now that Minnesota is done with him, he is projected to be drafted in the 2nd Round. Pretty amazing.
How much can they get out of Filiaga? I think he's making a good move.

Fleck seems to like his o-linemen on the gigantic side. I'll keep an eye out for him next fall. Good luck, Chuck!
January 13th, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
Didn't take Fleck many games vs Wisconsin to realize that winning the B1G West requires a lotta BEEF in the trenches
January 12th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
We do not play Minnesota next year so I will be rooting for him al season, go get them Chuck!
January 12th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
There may be a big ten title game that says otherwise
January 12th, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
Probably not - in crossover games they play Rutgers at home and Penn State/Sparty on the road. They finish with Iowa at home and then Wisconsin on the road.
January 13th, 2022 at 9:00 AM ^
PJ might surprise you..... row the boat
January 12th, 2022 at 6:32 PM ^
Well, that's disappointing. We can always use the depth on the OL.
January 12th, 2022 at 6:45 PM ^
Why is it disappointing? He has already announced he was transferring and as a 6th year guy who is likely being passed by younger players anyway, there’s nothing about this that is disappointing. I’m happy for him.
January 12th, 2022 at 6:50 PM ^
We've seen numerous times when lack of OL depth has killed us. An experienced OL is always good to have.
January 12th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
True. For better or worse, players have options and depth doesn't happen like it did in the early 70s when college teams would scholarship and dress 150 players.
January 12th, 2022 at 7:41 PM ^
We still have an experienced OL without him, even once you get to bench guys. We’d likely have to suffer 3+ Injuries on the OL for this to matter. Not likely, and odds are we’ll have additional linemen playing at a competent level to where it won’t “kill us”
I’d rather a young guy get his practice reps at this point anyway. We have enough depth to sustain an injury or two, and if we’re to the point where we’re getting 3+ injured linemen I’d rather a young guy get those valuable in game reps.

He must have figured that his odds of getting drafted were pretty low and needed a year as a starter. I'm not a PJ Fleck fan, but since we don't play Minnesota, I hope it works out for him.
Unless we meet Minnesota in the conference championship game, that is.
January 12th, 2022 at 6:36 PM ^
Gonna 'sink the boat'
January 12th, 2022 at 6:39 PM ^
Fleck's gonna need a bigger boat!

"Honey come over here and sit on Chuck's lap."
January 12th, 2022 at 7:11 PM ^
“…bring three friends. It’s quite a lap…”
January 12th, 2022 at 8:10 PM ^
"Of course I will PJ...."
January 13th, 2022 at 5:40 AM ^
As we used to say, butter face.
January 13th, 2022 at 7:30 AM ^
Cumong, man - PJ's not that homely.
January 13th, 2022 at 7:47 AM ^
Face...huh, what? Oh yeah, up there.
January 13th, 2022 at 11:15 AM ^
She looks way too much like Chyna.
January 12th, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
Guess he's going to get drafted in the 3rd round in 2023 then...
January 12th, 2022 at 10:50 PM ^
prolly
January 12th, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
Best of luck Chuck! Rumors were he wanted to be close to home. More likely he just wanted to start, and I hope he does!
January 12th, 2022 at 8:05 PM ^
Given that he's from Texas, i'd say he probably just wanted to start
January 12th, 2022 at 8:19 PM ^
To be fair if you are a crow and don't have to drive on highways it is clear than MN is closer than MI to TX! That's the reason!!!

So how do we pronounce Minnesota now?
January 12th, 2022 at 8:07 PM ^
Not a bad place for an OL to go. Best of luck to him
January 12th, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
From the super secret $$$ payboards he is going to be closer to his girlfriend!!!
January 12th, 2022 at 8:27 PM ^
Probably wants a chance at a rushing touchdown.
January 12th, 2022 at 8:30 PM ^
That's bullshit
January 12th, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
I'll take "Doesn't understand the situation" for 100, Alex.
January 12th, 2022 at 9:43 PM ^
Good luck to him. He'll likely start and be a good contributor.
January 12th, 2022 at 10:46 PM ^
I remember back when the Michigan O Line was in pretty sorry shape (pre-Warinner) and Chuck Filiaga committing was a BIG DEAL. It was like manna from heaven. Just think, now he can barely crack the depth chart as a grad student, hence this transfer.
Good luck to him at the other UM and may we continue reeling in big, athletic bodies and feeding them well.
January 12th, 2022 at 10:54 PM ^
O Line was in pretty sorry shape (pre-Warinner)
Ouch, the Greg Frey experiment
January 12th, 2022 at 11:27 PM ^
Good luck, Chuck! Thank you for this season. When both guards went down it was nice to have a capable backup with meaningful experience.
January 14th, 2022 at 4:47 PM ^
Chuck "I Don't know who to Block" Filiaga. Good luck Minnesota RB's. And good luck Chuck hope you find the right guy to block more often than not
