Him getting some run meant my expectations for him far exceeded what i expected of him coming out of high school.  He had some of the slowest feet ive seen.  If he goes to a mashing team, that would fit his skill set much better - which is straight up engage and drive back.

This makes some sense, but not really.  He's got tackle size, but has skills for a guard.  I liked his game on the Oline, but he feel just a little short of potential.

With that, I wish him well in his next stop.

That's closer to how it's pronounced:

Samoan consonants are pronounced a lot like in English, with a couple of exceptions:

  • The letter ‘g’ represents the unreleased ‘ng’ sound as in the English word singer and not the released-g sound as in the word finger. Since virtually all English speakers can pronounce singer, it always surprises me how many people stumble over the Samoan ‘g’…although I’m less surprised at the stumble when the same sound comes at the beginning of a word. Almost invariably the pronounce it as a hard-g, as in the English word ‘gun’ or get.

Thanks for that! Did not know that he was even Samoan, much less about the pronunciation. (The only similar thing I could think of is the ą in Polish which is pronounced "ahn" but did not think he was polakiem) Glad to have that cleared up after 5 years of wondering.

Was excited when he signed on, he had a productive career for UM and wish him well

This makes sense. He was likely going to be a depth player and only has one year left. Best of luck and thanks for you contribution to this amazing team Chuck!

So, the OL next year will most likely be:

OT:  Hayes and Barnhart

OG:  Zinter and Keegan

C:  Oluwatimi

1st off the bench: Redshirt Sophomores Trente Jones and Greg Crippen

We'll still have Redshirt freshmen El-Hadi and Raheem Anderson waiting their turn.  Strong!

RT will be the big question mark. Barnhart and Jones would seem like the leading candidates, but we’ve got quite a few young tackles on the roster and it’s not inconceivable that one of them could have a monster offseason and make it interesting.

As for the thread, not surprised at all and I was actually expecting it. Best of luck to Chuck though and thanks for being a part of the team that finally beat Ohio State and won the B1G again.

I’d think Trente Jones is the leader for the other tackle position over Barnhart. They liked Barnhart a lot at first and used him as a utility lineman, but playing both guard and tackle may have allowed Trente to catch up. If I remember correctly, the 2nd string line was Persi Barnhart Crippen Atteburry Jones

I hope he has a school picked out that fits his long term professional goals. This doesn’t seem entirely football related. He was a big part of a great over achieving once in generation team that really can’t be replicated. Part of me thinks he doesn’t necessarily want to go through the mental and physical grind that took Michigan to the top of the Big Ten. Go do you big Chuck.

Nearly everyone that was on the fence to go early to the NFL or transfer has done so. I feel like this means Harbaugh has told the team he is gone.

Hinton is really the only surprise. Baldwin I guess, but he's been in school for four years and was likely to lose playing time with Bell back and the freshman WR coming in. Hill was going to the NFL. Haskins was going to the NFL. Everyone knew this and it made sense, their stocks were about as high as they could get and they can go get paid and start their careers.

The guys who have transferred have either been a) buried on the depth chart and getting passed by younger guys (Soloman, DGW, Seldon, Johnson III, Vilari) or would be 5th-year or 6th year guys next year (Filiaga, Ross)

UM was something like 15 scholarships over the limit for next year. A bunch of guys were going to leave one way or the other, and with the free Covid year, there are a lot of guys who normally would just graduate or not have their 5th-year picked up that are transferring to go play.

Harbaugh may leave and may already be planning on being gone. But the guys leaving are not a sign of this.

I think I remember watching him picking the UM hat at the Army All American game. I went to 4 or 5 of the games, and he and Will Campbell are the only ones I remember picking UM.
