Chris Balas Reporting that Michigan-Maryland Likely at Noon
I know that there is a previous thread on the subject, but this is the first Twitter report I have seen from a credible journalist.
I'm OK with this. Much better than the "not at all" option.
Hearing from a good source the Michigan game with Maryland is being moved to noon Saturday. Working to confirm with others. #GoBlue

EDIT: Further rumblings from our overlord.
Also hearing game likely to move to noon.

They're still in play!

+1 to you Mr. Yost. thanks for the belly laugh!

Still can't get over the fact that he's a 60 year old man with a bowl cut
From the comments section: "He told the barber that he wanted the Super Bowl and I guess he misunderstood."

I wonder if our coach/athletic director are making arrangements for the team to practice indoors somewhere in Maryland next week if they're stranded there for a few days and unable to fly out due to the hurricane. Otherwise it would be tough to prep for Northwestern if they're stuck there until, say, Tuesday, then have to use Wednesday as a travel day.

What are you going on about? This is a legitimate concern that the athletic department will need to address. As far as I know this hasn't come up before, so I'm wondering how they'll address it.

I'm hearing they're going to bus Northwestern to Maryland and play the game at Byrd.

If you have to ask...
October 1st, 2015 at 11:25 AM ^
Based on the most recent forecast, there is extremely high confidence now that the storm will not be in the area on Saturday. Play the game at noon, and the team is gone by Saturday evening.
There is concern for fans traveling to the game as flights on Sunday or Monday could get cancelled, but this is a secondary concern for the AD that I doubt will affect the plan for the game.
October 1st, 2015 at 11:47 AM ^
As noted above, it also could also affect the team's (and not just fans') ability to fly out of Maryland Saturday evening, which could pose problems if they're stuck there for a few days. Worst case they could bus it back to A2, but that's a long, uncomfortable ride. Better than being standed there until Tuesday or Wednesday and having a travel day mid-week, especially with a tough Northwestern game coming up
October 1st, 2015 at 11:57 AM ^
I put it in all caps this time in case you missed it the first time. There will be no flight cancellations on Saturday.
October 1st, 2015 at 11:06 AM ^
If they close the airport, I imagine they'll simply bus them home. It would be a trek, but certainly a better plan than trying to prepare in Maryland.

This has been stressing me out beyond belief. I had a flight to DC on Saturday morning that is to arrive at 10:10 a.m. which was more than enough time for a 8:00 game but not enough for a noon game. Delta was able to switch me to the Friday night flight to DC with no change fee so I am set to get wet and Go Blue!! I am no idea what the alumni association is doing with the tailgate.

My flight home is early on Monday morning and it looks like that is right when the storm is going to hit. If you are going back Sunday I think you will get out but who knows for sure. I am staying with family so I will just wait it out if I have to. I figured it was better to rebook my trip out now rather than wait until there are no seats left. I thought about staying on the morning flight and rent a car to go out there but I have never driven to College Park before, I haven't been there in over 25 years and have no idea what Game Day traffic will be like. I have to pick up tickets at will call and envisioned missing the first half if I didn't make the change. I hate to do this on rumors but I think Balas is connected.

Traffic in and around DC is going to suck all weekend like it does every weekend. It'll be especially worse with the rain. Expect delays. Serious delays.
There is a Metro stop in College Park if you are coming from DC...I think it's like 2-3 miles from the stadium, though.

and Was all set to get back in time to watch the night game..Now im going to Miss it entirely....sooooo pissed
October 1st, 2015 at 11:08 AM ^
Alumni Assoc will probably move the tailgate to 9:00 AM. Breakfast anyone?
I hate morning tailgates. They are lifeless and dead. But what are you going to do? At least it's indoors.

Even though Joaquin won't be there by Saturday, the wind will already be kicking up by noon:
October 1st, 2015 at 10:54 AM ^
Well, probably won't be able to watch a good chunk of the fourth quarter. But, I'll take it.
October 1st, 2015 at 11:09 AM ^
You'll miss all those Speight handoffs.
October 1st, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
We (Richmond and DC area) are supposed to get heavy rains Friday and then Joaquin potentially later Sunday. Not sure changing the time will do anything. Is this confirmed or just rumor? First Post!
October 1st, 2015 at 11:00 AM ^
Rumor at this point but Chris Balas and Brian (the guy who runs this site) are extremely plugged in. This is not some random person posting this. The fact multiple reputable people are saying it's going to noon makes it (for me) much more likely it is at noon than 8pm at this point.

so gross, but I can... not... resist:

For the love of God, do not move the game where Comcast will not play it. I only have one BTN channel with Comast Sports package here in Nashville. I really do not want to watch this game on my laptop.

Connect your laptop to your big screen via Chromecast or HDMI.

So many other options for viewing this game. The most important thing is that the players and coaches remain safe so you can watch many more Michigan football telecasts.

It seems everybody wants the game to stay at 8:00 pm.
I'll have a word with God about changing the course of the storm.

Get the people in the stadium, play the game, and get them out again (including airline passengers) before there's any trouble at all, regardless of how minor it might turn out to be.

Harbaugh always said he loves those Noon games. Maybe he's actuall in control of the weather, too, and forced this one back to noon himself.
