Chris Balas Reporting that Michigan-Maryland Likely at Noon

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

I know that there is a previous thread on the subject, but this is the first Twitter report I have seen from a credible journalist.

I'm OK with this. Much better than the "not at all" option.

Hearing from a good source the Michigan game with Maryland is being moved to noon Saturday. Working to confirm with others. #GoBlue

EDIT: Further rumblings from our overlord.

Also hearing game likely to move to noon.

I wonder if our coach/athletic director are making arrangements for the team to practice indoors somewhere in Maryland next week if they're stranded there for a few days and unable to fly out due to the hurricane. Otherwise it would be tough to prep for Northwestern if they're stuck there until, say, Tuesday, then have to use Wednesday as a travel day.

Based on the most recent forecast, there is extremely high confidence now that the storm will not be in the area on Saturday. Play the game at noon, and the team is gone by Saturday evening.

There is concern for fans traveling to the game as flights on Sunday or Monday could get cancelled, but this is a secondary concern for the AD that I doubt will affect the plan for the game.

As noted above, it also could also affect the team's (and not just fans') ability to fly out of Maryland Saturday evening, which could pose problems if they're stuck there for a few days. Worst case they could bus it back to A2, but that's a long, uncomfortable ride. Better than being standed there until Tuesday or Wednesday and having a travel day mid-week, especially with a tough Northwestern game coming up

Perfect for me. Had a birthday party at a restaurant that I am not certain has TV's. And even if it did, it's a wife's-friends-oriented crowd so I'd need to be "that guy" and recruit any husbands I could round up and sneak over to the bar etc. Disaster averted indeed!

This has been stressing me out beyond belief.  I had a flight to DC on Saturday morning that is to arrive at 10:10 a.m. which was more than enough time for a 8:00 game but not enough for a noon game.  Delta was able to switch me to the Friday night flight to DC with no change fee so I am set to get wet and Go Blue!!  I am no idea what the alumni association is doing with the tailgate.

My flight home is early on Monday morning and it looks like that is right when the storm is going to hit.  If you are going back Sunday I think you will get out but who knows for sure.  I am staying with family so I will just wait it out if I have to.  I figured it was better to rebook my trip out now rather than wait until there are no seats left.  I thought about staying on the morning flight and rent a car to go out there but I have never driven to College Park before, I haven't been there in over 25 years and have no idea what Game Day traffic will be like.  I have to pick up tickets at will call and envisioned missing the first half if I didn't make the change.  I hate to do this on rumors but I think Balas is connected.

Traffic in and around DC is going to suck all weekend like it does every weekend. It'll be especially worse with the rain. Expect delays. Serious delays.

There is a Metro stop in College Park if you are coming from DC...I think it's like 2-3 miles from the stadium, though.

We (Richmond and DC area) are supposed to get heavy rains Friday and then Joaquin potentially later Sunday.  Not sure changing the time will do anything.  Is this confirmed or just rumor?  First Post!

Rumor at this point but Chris Balas and Brian (the guy who runs this site) are extremely plugged in. This is not some random person posting this. The fact multiple reputable people are saying it's going to noon makes it (for me) much more likely it is at noon than 8pm at this point.

For the love of God, do not move the game where Comcast will not play it. I only have one BTN channel with Comast Sports package here in Nashville. I really do not want to watch this game on my laptop.

Get the people in the stadium, play the game, and get them out again (including airline passengers) before there's any trouble at all, regardless of how minor it might turn out to be.

Harbaugh always said he loves those Noon games. Maybe he's actuall in control of the weather, too, and forced this one back to noon himself.
