Chip Kelly post game promo
Did you happen to hear the post game interview with Chip Kelly as he spoke to the crowd? At the end he said, "we're going to go drink some Dr. Pepper and mail our Christmas gifts by UPS."
Is he or Oregon getting paid for him to say that? That's a new one to me. Anything for a buck.
>> edit: after researching a bit more I guess they were founding partners of the game, but have you ever heard after the Tosittos Fiesta bowl "We're going to eat some Tostitos" or after the Outback Bowl "I'm going to get me a bloomin' Onion". Maybe it was a requirement of the sponsorship, but man it's going overboard.

The University of Oregon owns UPS. And Dr. Pepper owns the entire state of Oregon. It's all part of their master plan to outfit the entire world in Pro Combat (shuudddder).

Are they sponsoring any bowls? Or the bowl selection show or something like that? Or do they have some ties to Oregon?
That's about all I can think of. With Nike funding the program I doubt they are that hard up for cash.

I guess his sandwhich board was in the equipment room for repairs. I didn't stay up to watch the interview, but man, that's a new one on me. Maybe he'll sing the Dr. Pepper jingle it they win their bowl game.

Send Oregon to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Somehow the thought of Kelly starting to sing, "Oh, oh, oh ice cold milk and an Oreo cookie...." makes me smile.

"I'm a booster, she's a booster, he's a booster, wouldn't you like to be a booster too?"

from that $30k "recruiting" guide he purchased last year.

To be fair, it only cost $25k for Seastrunk.

The media went to a football interview and a NASCAR interview broke out.

The Nike UPS DR. Pepper Oregon offense was runnin' real good for us all day. UCLA tried to wreck us in #3 but we was too strong for 'em. *Switches to Nike swoosh hat*

and he told me he misspoke. He meant to say the game is sponsored by Jean's feminine wipes, brought to you by Andy's lead-based paint chips. "Once you pop...your heart stops."

Kelly is a real doucher. If you need convincing

Also, Enjoy Slurm
That is all.

Kelly has the "selective vision" needed to gloss over poor off-field decisions.

Dumb question but will the PAC 12 Championship always be in Eugene?

of the best record of the two division winners. Gives some more motivation to have the best record, besides, you know, winning.

is to keep attendance high and avoid the half-empty neutral sites like that infamous ACC championship game. If the game is in a home stadium, there's little reason for fans not to go.

Except that last nights game didn't sell out. At least yesterday morning they were still trying. Tickets were under $20.
December 3rd, 2011 at 2:58 PM ^
It may not have sold out but it was pretty darn full. I didn't notice any shots of totally empty sections.

The money he received for doing that will simply be reinvested to procure new recruits from the state of Texas.

I was wondering the same thing. Didn't realize they were sponsoring the game. I thought Oregon was just plugging them in to get some money, which wouldn't surprise me.

The Pac12 championship changed my mind about having the B1G championship game at home sites. If we ever had to host the corporate mess in the big house I'd die. There were Pac12 logos everywhere and fireworks and cheezy national anthems and Dr Pepper themed halftime entertainment and even the coach plugging Dr Pepper. I know Oregon is a corporate whore, but it's even a bit embarassing for them
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:56 AM ^
Yeah, except that when you put that whole mess inside a soulless NFL dome, it compounds the schlock even further.
At least a home venue like Autzen or the Big House still gives it something recognizable as a CFB event and not an Arena Football League game.

I wish the Outback Bowl trophy was a giant golden bloomin onion. That would be awesome and I'd hope for that bowl in years we didn't make the Rose Bowl.

Chip was trying to make a joke.
December 3rd, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
Could you imagine Brady Hoke saying that? I'm glad that I won't ever have to worry about this happening at Michigan.

The Oregon president was just ousted.

It pays for the game we love to watch.
When I was president of a little league I had to find revenues anywhere I could to keep the costs to the players' families down. It's just the way things are.

Kelly's a tool.
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
Just found out the SEC championship is also sponsored by Dr. Pepper. How much did they pay for this stuff??? I highly doubt Les Miles (ok ok, or Mark Richt) will mention it in a victory speech though

Just watching that game last night made me wish Fox never is allowed to do college football again.
