The energy Chaundee brings to this team is amazing

It’s down the road apiece and I know there is usually attrition, but that provides an extra dilemma for the roster. We have 6 recruits coming in and now all the Seniors have the opportunity to return. The only guaranteed departure I see is Livers.

My question is, what happens if Brooks, Smith, Davis, Brown Jr. and perhaps Wagner, want to return?

He is enjoying every minute of his senior season and we are fortunate to have him. He has a bright future in the NBA as every team needs a few selfless players like him to do the dirty work.

I wonder if it's a bit of a relief for him TBH.  He had to carry the weight on a mediocre team last year.  This year, he gets to be Vinnie Johnson aka "Microwave" off the bench.  Just come in and score with high energy.  He's got a stronger cast around him allowing him to play a role instead of the lead.  I know I would have more fun in that situation.

Wow.  I hadn't thought of that as a comp until now.  Nice pull.

And, yes, what a selfless player he must be to come in and be "another piece", even off the bench.  You have to think Juwan's pro experience is a key to these guys understanding that who starts doesn't matter - the best NBA teams are 9-10 deep and can basically run out two 5s.  That seems to be exactly what Juwan is doing and the team appears to be bought in.  I love it.

It's not just the intensity, but how he can immediately go from that extreme intensity to having the smile of a kid on Christmas morning in a split second. Really refreshing and fun to watch, you can tell he loves playing on this team.

I love what Chaundee brings to the team.  Reminds me a little of Hardaway Jr.

Unrelated:  Does anyone know why coach was T'd up last night?  I thought Brooks got the technical for hanging on the rim on the fast break.  But then they said Howard got it.  I'm not sure what he would have been mad about since his guys got the steal and fast break dunk.

They stopped play after the dunk to give a flop warning to Chaundee Brown on the defensive possession before the Brooks dunk. If you listen close, you can hear the announcement of it after the whistle.

Then, Howard was in the ear of the ref as he was walking away after the in-bounds pass, which got Howard the technical. So he likely wasn't happy with the flop warning and let the ref know about it with some kind words.

I absolutely love Brown and am so glad we got him. It seems like he has shown enough (of everything) to be in the starting lineup and I would like to see Juwan make that move. If that does happen, and Dickinson makes that move as well, our starting five would absolutely blitz some teams right out of the gate. I have grown to really appreciate Brooks as well but he can definitely be a great energy guy off the bench and leader of the second unit.

I'm a fan of Brown's too.

Also, I agree with what the announcers discussed last night, the wonderful mix of this team. Go big, go small, be intense, be cool, start, come off the bench, fierce defense, tons of options on offense: it's a mosaic. So much to appreciate from so many angles.

Last night was super-encouraging, but I admit to some continuing trepidation as to whether this team is really a Swiss Army Knife or remains a bit of a Frankenstein's monster. I do see Juwan's long bench and many experiments paying off, so I am not complaining, but we're about to find out.

From left-to-right:

Played in a national championship -- played in a national championship -- TBD

Couldn't agree more about appreciating the guy.  Our basketball team seems to attract a whole lot of dudes who are tremendously easy and fun to root for.  I honestly can't recall any players in the past decade where I found myself thinking, "yikes, he really shouldn't have done that but I'll cheer for him anyway because he's on Michigan".

Lets hope he doesnt read this, because as Bo says, it'll make the player soft...

He is a good player and you always want a guy like this on your team, whose energy never wanes.

"Lets hope he doesnt read this, because as Bo says, it'll make the player soft..."

I think that's a silly idea. It's part of being a shitty parent / boss. Instead, be honest with your kids / people and give them useful feedback (positive / neutral / negative) to help them grow.

Last night I was watching highlights of the 2018 and 19 team. After yesterdays game I was finally happy being a Michigan fan again (no looming beatdown of OSU on the horizon anymore). I have to say that this team has a higher peak at least on the offensive side than the 2018 team did. Aside from the Texas A&M game, that team did not play particularly well in the tournament. There were games where teams were cracking 40 with about 10 minutes left to play.

In particular I recognized Matthews contribution to that team. He had a good turnaround and hit a few timely 3's and was a menace on D. I see Chaundee being that but better. He has a better handle and is more explosive off the dribble going to the basket. Also, he seems to be a more efficient 3 point shooter. If Matthews was an A+ defender I would have to give Chaundee an A- (A+ on ball, but he has had some lapses in help so far).

Right now we have a PG who can run the show and dish it out real well (3pt shot still not all the way there yet). At the 2 we have a senior who seems to play better in the 2nd half and is a great defender. At the 3 we have Franz who when he shows his potential could be one of the best all around players in the B1G. Livers is a seasoned vet who shoots incredibly from the 3, has worked on his mid range, and is a solid defender. Lastly we have a 7'1 C who when it comes to his low post skills is about as good as you see from a guy that size and his age. Then off the bench we have Chaundee; who would start on most teams and be the 1 or 2 option. Davis (hopefully he's okay), Williams & Johns. That is even leaving out Zeb who you see the talent there.

This team could do amazing things.

Big fan since game 1. I also noticed how the team rallied around him when the NCAA granted his waiver. He's a winner.

ON ANOTHER POINT it irks me when people whine about football in basketball, baseball, hockey threads. If I wanted to beat that horse I'd click on the latest coaching change thread. #PleaseStop

There was a great article a couple of weeks back (sorry can't remember the source) about Chaundee's transition from Wake Forest to Michigan.  In essence, he came in thinking he was in shape and ready to make an impression.  However, Camp Sanderson changed him - basically tore him down and built him back up so he would be better conditioned and ready to run at will without being gassed.  In the end he explained how happy he was to be a Wolverine and how impressed he's been with the entire team and facilities.  It shows in his on-court performance.

Great thread. He's becoming my favorite player.

Breaks my heart that he won't get to play in front of a full house at Crisler this year. They would LOVE this guy. Hope he gets to experience it next year.

He’s good at several things, and great at a couple, like on-ball D. One aspect of his game I’m really appreciating is his handle. Quickly became one of my favorite players.

I have to admit that I've only watched highlights so far this year, but the descriptions of him sound like like a Dennis Rodman or Ben Wallace even though he is a completely different player and can score hoops.  He is a hustle guy who is athletic and physical.   Everyone loves that kind of player.
